- Interlaken is very popular with locals as well as tourists visiting Switzerland. If you are planning day trip to explore around Interlaken, this boat ride in Lake Brienz is a wonderful option - take a front row seat to soak in the blues and greens of the landscape in the 1.5 hour ferry ride, you can also stop over in the lake towns of Lake Brienz to experience charming Swiss towns sans the crowds of tourists.

Hey can you tell me the speed of the ferry?and how long is the ferry ride? Also, are there other boat rides? Like smaller boats that are faster than ferry?
👍👋
Excellent! Loving the drone shots as well.
Thank you Aninnn :)
@@shalinitravellifeHello! Planning to use my drone too next year 2024, Do I need to get permits?
@@marshmello3818 for flying drones in Switzerland please adopt the requirements stated here - www.bazl.admin.ch/bazl/en/home/drohnen/open.html
You have to register your drone and label it as mentioned in the link, depending on the type of drone you use permits may or may not be needed.
Switzerland is much more open to flying drones that other EU countries.
It says that you need an insurance for the drone? Or is that for me? Did you get one for your drone and where?
@@marshmello3818 I live in Switzerland - here is common to have liability insurance (if you damage other’s things by you flying the drone or while driving)

Yes and it is maintained that way as well very beautifully. Every corner is a picture postcard.

Amazing video! Do you have a 2nd part of the other villages where this cruise stops?
Thank you, this is the only one in this genre. However, I do have videos from other Swiss towns and villages (not necessarily part of this boat ride) in the channel. Like Zermatt, Morcote, Interlaken etc.
Good work
Thank you very much :)
Super 👌from 🇨🇭,,,,,, 🇱🇰
Nandri :)
Amazing video.!! Thanks for this.
Is lake brienz or lake thun cruise better I will have time to do only one of those. Also how do we get back from Brienz to Interlaken ?
Thank you 😊 If you are looking to do the lake cruise closer to sunset then I suggest Lake Thun as the sunset view is nicer, else Lake Brienz. You can either take a boat trip back to Interlaken or it is also well connected by train - it is a 20 min train ride between the 2 places.
Wish you a nice trip!
Hello! Is the 1.5 hours roundtrip? and does it take you back to ost?
1.5 hours is a one way trip from Interlaken Ost to Brienz (there are other stops in between like Istlewald). You can take a return ferry from any of the in between stops to Interlaken if you choose to.
This is beautiful!!! I can’t wait to be there! Will be there in a few weeks ☺️ is it easy to get on the train from interlaken to iseltwald? Where do you buy the ticket for the ferry ride? Thank you so much
It is easier to get to Iseltwald by boat ride or bus. You can buy the ticket to ferry ride right opposite Interlaken Ost train station if you plan to take the ferry from there, it is the starting point for the ferry ride.
@@shalinitravellife I’m
Hello we are in Interlaken right now, what is the name of place or port we can get the cruise ship from to Lake Brienz? Thank you
You can take the ferry from Interlaken OST to Brienz, there is Istlewald stop where you can board and get off as well if you want to explore that village
Can you get off/on the ferry as you please? For example, if we purchased the ticket from Interlaken Ost to Brienz, can we get off at the different stops along the way? If so, do you just show the boat crew your ticket to get back on? Thanks in advance!
Yes you can get off from ferry in the stops in between and get on again to reach your destination.
If you have a pass, a day pass or swiss travel pass etc
what do you mean by a day pass? There are plenty of passes. I am not sure which one are you talking about that lets you board free in the boats? Is it the Swiss pass or something else? Kindly let me know. would be super helpful!
Swiss one day saver pass
The boat ride is part of any Swiss day pass that you take. For more details refer to www.bls-schiff.ch/en there is response in the FAQ section that specifically answers your question.
Did you ride from Interlaken Ost ferry going to Brienz? I will have swiss travel is that included?
If you have a Swiss travel day pass or multi day pass then this will be part of the pass. For more details you can check www.bls-schiff.ch/en
do you need to book the ferry in advance? is this covered by one of your passes?
This is covered in the passes if you have a day pass. Even otherwise, you can buy ticket at the counter and not having to book in advance.
Hello. We have 2 nights in interlaken. How would you suggest we spend our time there. I am thinking one whole day will be taken with the cruise and stopping at different viewpoints. Kindly assist and what places to visit
Hi Shabbir, lake cruise in Lake Brienz or a sunset cruise in Lake Thun are both very nice. Grindelwald is a nice Swiss village to visit that is close to Interlaken. Lauterbrunnen valley is beautiful and has many waterfalls. You can also visit one of the peaks Harderkulm / Schynigge plate (you can take the funicular or cable car up). Highly recommend visiting Zermatt if time allow and is not already in your plan. It is home to the famous Matterhorn mountain (it is a bit far from Interlaken)
How much does the ticket cost from Brienz to Giessbach falls??
The ferry travel is part of the day pass if you are using one. Else the price should be around 25 CHF without any travel pass or half fare card for a one way journey. You can use the SBB app to check prices for travel between places in Switzerland.
Fantatic videos! Did you get any permit to fly your drone there? We are planning to use one on our trip 2024
Thank you very much. Please refer to the official drone rules and requirements to follow here - www.bazl.admin.ch/bazl/en/home/drohnen/open.html
Hey did u take ferry from interlaken ost ? And how much was first class ticket
I had a day pass and did not have to pay additional for the ferry ride. You can check here for fare details www.bls-schiff.ch/en
Hi, where do you book this?
You can purchase the ticket just by the ferry alight point, not necessary to purchase before hand. If you prefer to plan and purchase earlier you can do so in the link below - www.bls-schiff.ch/en
Can you please tell me the one-way ferry ride price? And do i have to book it beforehand or can I book the tickets on spot?
Hi Swagatam, the ferry ride costs about 25 CHF one way, around INR 2000. You can buy the ticket on spot. Please check the ferry times here www.bls.ch/en/freizeit-und-ferien/schiff/schiffseinsatzplan as it changes with season.
Happy planning and a nice time when you visit.
@@shalinitravellife thank you!
is the cruise trip and ferry trip same?
Yes they are in most cases in Lake Breinz / Switzerland. There are some themed ferry/cruise journeys which include dining options as well for you to consider if that is of interest.
What is the closing time of Lake Brienz cruise ? Can anybody please confirm ?
Same question can you pls update if you are aware
www.bls-schiff.ch/sites/default/files/2024-04/timetable-bls-schifffahrt_2024.pdf
Pls check this link / pdf which has exact schedule of the cruise. It varies during different parts of the year and you will find all details herein. Let us know if you have more questions
Is it possible to stop at istlewald ?
Yes, the ferry did stop at Istlewald.
Can you tell the price of boat trip ?I gonna visit in August
If you are looking to travel only between Interlaken Ost and Breinz (this route shown in the video), then one way journey is CHF 17.50 . Swiss travel pass for the day starts from CHF 49 (depending on how early you book) which will include all travel within Switzerland (except for mountain railway) and boat trips are part of the day travel pass.
Is it free with the swiss travel pass?
Yes it is part of Swiss travel pass
I am assuming you are referring to a day pass or multi day travel pass
Can I take from Brienz and stop at Interlaken? Just one way! How much?
Yes, you can. One way journey for the route you are asking currently is CHF 17.50
@@shalinitravellife Thanks for your info! If I have Swiss Pass I can get it free right?
@@Ducati368 if you have a Swiss day pass or the GA travel card for the day you are travelling the ride is part of it.
@@shalinitravellife ok thanks 🙏🙏🙏
Good video! Thanks to the author of the channel for this fascinating video! It is interesting to see how people live in other countries! It is very important to know foreign languages on such trips. I would like to recommend to all travelers a practical guide to learning foreign languages by Yuriy Ivantsiv "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages". This book contains a lot of useful tips on how to learn a foreign language for tourists, students, entrepreneurs and anyone who needs a foreign language in life. There are a lot of good tips on how to solve problems with the language from beginner to advanced level of language learning. It turns out that the traveler only needs to know a few dialogues and you can easily travel around the world! You don't have to spend a lot of time to fully learn a foreign language, you just need to learn what you can use when you travel. I wish everyone exciting travels!
