In 2003, the area surrounding St. Anthony Hospital in Midtown Oklahoma City was in serious decline with numerous boarded up, dilapidated properties and unattractive streetscapes. Clearly Midtown had seen better days. As a result, St. Anthony leaders faced a difficult decision: stay where our roots are firmly planted in Midtown, or move to another Oklahoma City location. After collaboration with community and civic leaders, St. Anthony decided to stay and invest $220 million in its campus. The synergy of that decision and the investment that followed resulted in a Midtown that is vibrant and alive-and what has been characterized as “One of Oklahoma City’s greatest success stories.”
