I love this discussion so much! These are my favorite horror films, and I love hearing from others who appreciate them. I think Ari Aster is just a genius. In my opinion, he’s the new master of dread, and I can’t wait to see how his filmography grows!🙌❤️
Hi guys great episode, I finally got around to watching Midsommar and wow what a trip, question tho, you guys said that it didnt have a supernatural aspect to it like Hereditary where people were possessed and there was a floating body, but in the part where Dani won May Queen she spoke Swedish and before she spoke we had a frame where it was a pile up of her going left and right it made it look like the sun almost or at least that's how i saw it, then to her surprise spoke Swedish , i took it as the sun goddess possessing her, that's how i interpreted that scene i could be wrong idk BUT i was wondering how you guys took that scene.

Weirdly enough, Hereditary is one of my comfort movies lol it’s just such good acting and I find something new every time I watch it. Also, The Wicker Man screwed me up way more than Midsommar, like I watched that movie when I was like 12 and I’ve never been able to watch it again 😆
at 1:26:40 they do cut Christian up they just dont show it. according to old folklore, which Aster reference heavily while writing this script, in this tradition they cut the limbs off of the person going inside the suit, but bc christian has been given a paralyzer he cant react. which adds to the disturbing quality that you take with after the movie is over. which are the best horror movies. i was so disturbed by both these films. the whole theatre gasped during a few hereditary scenes. thank you for doing these movies! they are a fav! have the hereditary screenplay book from the A24 online shop, there isnt a midsommar one :(
This is the second non-Harry Potter review that y’all have done that I literally watched both movies you talk about the night before the video is posted. I just watched Hereditary and Midsommar like 12 hours ago, and the exact same thing happened with the Kill Bill review lol.
Great video guys, but I’ve always wondered( this isn’t rly about the video itself) which funkos you guys each have. I can only figure out a couple, so what are each of them?
Fairly becoming my favourite podcast, I found you guys after watching knives out and wanted to find a review podcast as I had no one to talk about it with, Love both of these films too and can't wait for his next piece, Have you seen his short film he is basing his new feature on?
I can’t recount another horror film from the last decade that has the ability to affect and terrify an audience quite like Hereditary (only Midsommar comes close in my eyes). It’s unrelenting and I couldn’t help but think about it hours and days after the credits rolled. Many of its imagery was burned into my mind. In my opinion, it’s well on its way to being considered a modern classic.
Midsommar is by far my least favorite movie, my problem was how disturbing this movie is and how realistic it feels, i do appreciate how it’s a movie that takes place during the day. I get why people love it, it’s just not for me
It’s pronounced Midsummer not midSOmar.. really takes you out of it when you pronounce it so ridiculously stupid. Other than that good breakdown of the movies.
Midsommar was the first horror movie in a long time that actually made me gasp!
Same! It was so shocking

The god picking her to be May Queen is what I meant because there’s a silhouette of Dani as May queen before it happens
Love that 🙌

Willem Dafoe was never Dracula…. But he was a vampire in Daybreakers. 10 pts Slytherin 🐍
True! We figured it out, James was thinking of the Nosfuratu remake he starred in 🦇
