I used to live near by Junren. I haven't been there over 20 years... Now, I'm living in Germany and miss the place so much. Shingen was also one of my favourite shop. I'll be in Sapporo in a few weeks so I'm looking forward to visit either of them (or may be both).
That's amazing you were close by! I think you'll have to end up visiting both...for old times sake 😃 Enjoy revisiting the old stomping grounds in Sapporo!
Once again you’ve made a hot day here a bit cooler with all the snow, and extremely hungrier for a bowl of Ramen,. Thanks Frank for another great ramen video.😘😘. Dashing off now to make an instant Ramen.
Hi Frank… why do I watch your ramen videos on an empty stomach lol 😆 now I’m starving and craving ramen or noodles of any kind. Another great video and I really enjoy when you share some of the history. I’m curious, other than ramen what are some of you fav foods? 😊🇨🇦
Need to make sure you have some noodles nearby before playing a video 😊. Glad you liked this one. It's a long list after ramen - sushi, soba, udon, sisig, laksa, khao soi, kottu, mapo tofu, pierogi, pad thai, bun bo hue, pizza, to name a few! Might be a fun video in the future, making a list!
Wow! Finally we know what Frank eats when he's not having ramen! Love miso ramen! I'm not too fond of porky broth (but maybe it would be ok in the middle of winter) so the first and fourth bowl appeal to me the most. The first because I'd like to try the original miso ramen. But I think the fourth bowl stands out because I like broth that's rich but not porky. Would definitely love to try it with corn and butter too!
That's awesome! The Aji no Sanpei location definitely is a big part of the experience. Sapporo will be waiting for you when Japan fully reopens again 👍
Good question! We need to ask that 5 AM Croissant guy 😅 Here's a list of the best bakeries in Tokyo, according to Tabelog: award.tabelog.com/hyakumeiten/bread_tokyo/2020/
Hi ,Frank . I have followed you for years. Your ramen trips are so wonderful and tasty. I am so keen to know how those great skilled reman chef trained ? Like in Australia, chefs are trained in Tafe. What about Japan?
Thanks so much for watching and for following! Great question. The training here isn't really that formal - although some people might go to an actual ramen school. What often occurs though is people working at ramen shops and then opening their own places. More famous ramen shops may have have more cases of this.
I received both the Sumire and the Junren in past orders; Both excellent, but I seem to remember liking the Junren just a tad bit more. If I remember correctly, the Sumire was thicker and, I thought, a bit richer tasting, and the Junren toned it down a little. I could be mixing them up though because I did receive the Sumire twice and the Junren only once.
Just like me in the video on site, it seems like Junren's instant version got you more excited 😃 Similarly, Sumire has a thicker soup because of a bit more pork lard. Your new pack includes some other ones...but of course with thick noodles 😃
Very great and informative video, plus all the ramen looks so tasty!! I can almost second-handedly feel your pain near the end since those ramen looks sooo heavy 😅 Amusingly I also just saw the show あたしンち showing how the miso ramen was made, and its almost the same as what you said! ruclips.net/user/shortsME9ae_6jmXk Though funnily this isn't the first time I heard a ramen existing because a customer brought a different food and mixed it in the soup lol. Also the Junren/Sumire story is extremely funny! Always appreciate the research and facts you share with your ramen journey!
Happy you enjoyed it! Haha, you were there cheering me on in spirit as I finished that last big bowl. Thanks for sharing あたしンち too - I didn't know about it until now! I've been missing out. I think my Junren / Sumire explanation could have been better lol...I was confused when explaining it probably too. Thanks for watching and will keep the ramen info rolling!
Let me know your favorite bowls!
Really love how you talk about Ramen. Next level detail. Frozen in time. I'm watching this midnight. Not good for my brains and gut. You're legendary
You sir, are the legend! Love the piano mixes.
Looks so yummy
Love miso ramen it is most authentically and well known Japanese favor
A Japan representative ramen style, indeed!

Great descriptions and history, Frank! We appreciate your sacrifice for our edification!
Thanks for always watching and supporting the channel!
Im still undecided if I want to visit Hokkaido because of all the snow but Im excited to try my first miso ramen at Santora when I get to Toyko.
Santora is as good as it gets without trudging through that Sapporo snow 😃
Hokkaido is fantastic in the summer too.
SALUDOS DESDE MI PAÍS CHILE 🇨🇱🌶️😍
SALUDOS DESDE MI PAÍS JAPAN!!
Great as usual Frank! I think Junren looks the best.
Thanks for watching, as always! Junren might have been my favorite from the 4...you'd love it!

Great choices! I understand why you decided on those two. In the next video in this series, I'm eating a donut at one point 😊
@@5AMRamen gasp!
I went to Shingen a while back and had a religious experience, that bowl of soup would've been worth queueing a decade for.
So glad you went to Shingen and loved it!
Had a chance to try Ramen Shingen before the pandemic and it was awesome! I will definitely try the original miso ramen next time. Cool location!

I love croissants too....where can you get the best in Japan.

Dude, is it still snowing in Hokkaido? Even in the summer? Jokes aside, love your videos.
Haha, wish it was snowing now (the intense humidity is starting to kick in here). Always happy to hear that, thanks for watching!
