Dude that is super organized! Having a holder for your thumb oiler is a great idea though. I have a few that I use and they tend to fall over. Especially the pump ones.
Thanks man! Some parts of the shop are very organized. Others...... and train wreck lol. I have a little craftsman pump oiler I stupidly put BLO in and gummed it up. That will definitely need to be another clean up project eventually lol. This I'd is very handy but I could use some more capacity for how much rusty stuff is in the shop haha
These used to come with Singer Sewing Machines and they are very handy little tools. I use them for a variety of oils and penetrating fluids and they all live on a little shelf behind the bench
I definitely plan on picking up some more this flea market season. It's been super handy having it right on the back of the bench..... especially with the amount of rusty metal stuff in have haha
LOVE these things. Living in my grandfathers house, I found a few of these - used it for BLO, for oiling the wedge/proud handle hang top of the eye and big mistake LOL. It gunked it up BIG TIME! I have to keep a safety in in the hole to keep the BLO from completely shutting the whole! I think I may either put danish oil or tung oil in it - I believe I have the exact same one. I have to clean mine hardcore, with brake cleaner LOL. Wish they had a bigger reservoir tho LOL
They are super handy! I usually come across all kinds of the full sized ones but this little one caught my eye this summer. I did the same thing as you with a craftsman mini trigger oiler. It worked great and then gummed up. Eventually I need to give it a good soak and bring it back to life lol.
Love little thumb oilers. Glad you didn't go overboard polishing it up. I need to get some bigger leather punches now. Entire project is a win. thanks for sharing.
@_BigLife_ I had a little craftsman trigger/pump oiler I was using for BLO but too much air was getting into it and it got gummed up. I need to go back and clean it up again and use it for something else.
I really enjoyed your video. I have one of these oilers. What is that tool rack called that you hung the oiler holder on. I looked on your channel for how it was built. Can you recommend a video in how to make one? Thanks
Thanks for watching and the kind words! It is a French cleat system that I have in the wall behind my workbench. The concept allows for a lot of modularity with the organization which is really handy for when needs and tools change. Tons of wood workers have done videos on it but I will leave a link below to one that I think is a great explanation 👍 ruclips.net/video/usFRvasGW70/видео.htmlsi=-Oo4DjZJaHZXTXdU

It's been very handy having it right there on the back of the bench. I'm honestly surprised how much I've been reaching for it.
@Nsvens89 I have three I use all the time. One for BLO, one for teak oil, and one for Ballistol. They are handy.

@@IronOxAxeAndTool that would be a good video
Gotta get me one !
They really are super handy Joey! I definitely plan on picking up a few more larger ones when flea market season rolls back around 👍
