This deck can be awesome, but it can also suck without a decent draw. Too many useful cards but no spies to draw them out. Sadly there are a lot of great cards that I just can't include in my build because it waters the deck down too much. When you have no spies you have to keep a deck really tight. I've come to the conclusion that a lot of the tight bond cards have to get the boot to make room for all muster possibilities. Kinda have to play it like the monster deck if you want to have a deck that will win consistently. If they allowed you just one unique skellige spy it would change everything. I actually love playing it against NR and Nilfgard cause I decoy a few of their spies and I become a damn wrecking ball, but vs another skellige or monsters it is easy to fall apart because you just don't have the right combos of cards and absolutely no way to get them.

    • @8butsideways295
      @8butsideways295 3 года назад +1

Its a confirmed win... But its also a close win... If you just want a overwhelming victory just use NR but skellige deck is the nr and nilfguardian deck killer squiatell is mhe monster can be trouble with the reshuffle card but you can still beat them easily also its just so satisfying to hav just 1 card in the start of round 3 and the ai has 5 cards and you end up winning that's really fun...

    • @jeffvella9765
      @jeffvella9765 3 года назад +13

Here is a solution for you.
The key to the skellige deck is understanding that the second round is the round you need to prepare for the 3 rd round.
keep your deck as small as possible(mine 25 cards)
3 decoy + 22 unit cards and all muster and heros.(forget berserkers)
First round burn through the muster cards to make the deck as small as possible(AI will give up or waste scorch usually), then and only then use the spy card/s.(this pretty much doubles the chances of winning the game)(use decoys to collect opponent spy cards or let them go in the discard pile so you can collect them later with a healing/revive card.
(Unlike other decks where you usually use the spy cards ASAP to increase your options, the Skellig deck REQUIRES you to draw from a very small diminished deck.)
Second round you need to leave only 2 strong non hero units on the board then use the leader ability before folding or wasting opponents cards with decoys.(if you leave one of the revived muster unit, it be ideal)
Third round you will have your 2 strong units revived from the discard pile left by round 2(if they are musters, they will muster again from the deck ;))
Now is time to use the heros and everything you have left.
I never lost with this strategy against any deck the AI throws at me, it is indeed really powerful since it uses the fact that the AI never fights well on the first round since it is programmed to save cards for the second round.
It is important that the second round is used to waste AI cards and is lost on purpose to make it impossible for the AI to win on the 3'rd round.
I managed to get some 221 points on the third round, poor AI did not stand a chance.

    My built strategy:
    A. Hero cards:
    Mysterious Elf, Yennefer, and Cerys.
    B. Unit cards:
Gaunter O'Dimm Darkness x3, Gaunter O'Dimm x1, Olaf x1, Clan an Craite Warrior x3, War Longship x3, Light Longship x3, Clan Drummond Shield Maiden x3, Birna Bran x1, and Kambi x1.
    C. Leader Crach an Craite.
No need for any special cards. So we can have 22 cards total. Minimizing randomness. With muster and bond tactics, then recycling cards by Cerys and Gaunter O'Dimm after Crach an Craite ability, really feel OP.
With two medic cards (Birna and Yennefer), along with Kambi and Spy Card (Mysterious Elf) with this tactics, you can feel you have more cards to play. No need to decoy AI spy cards to be used again. Just hit them hard with all the spy cards points they give us in the first round. Olaf was always usefull doing this.
In second round, lure the AI to win by give them a good fight with cards you want to use it again in third round. Just don't forget to use Crach an Craite ability before passing for that round.
Sometimes, against NE Deck with cancelling leader ability, just at the draw two cards opportunity to left out muster cards ability and hope our bond cards ability come more into play. We don't need to play spy cards to be honest. So don't worry if we can't decoy back theirs.
In the third round, we still have more cards to play than them. 2 to 4 cards from round two graveyard and Cerys! Absolutely the King of Third Round.

In this set try using Muster+decoy or split muster. Eg use dark ODim muster in round one, Reshuffle graveyard with leader in round three. then use 2-point O'Dim card to get the whole muster back. Works well with Cerys and her muster also

Too many cards in the deck for me I don't like to have more than 30. I try to keep it small and potent but honestly the skellige deck doesn't match up against the nr or nilf decks just because of the spy decoy combo. Playing the gwent beta I can see why they changed the game so drastically as some decks were much stronger than others.

The reshuffling ability becomes dangerous when against monster decks. If they’ve recalled one of their musterable cards from the graveyard and then you use the ability it reshuffles them all back into the deck. So if they have a decoy, they can re-muster those cards.

Always great to find a help video from you. We go way back to Dragon Age Inquisition. This video helped me figure out my Skellige deck build considerably. Thank you. I've found I don't really use weather cards much, however putting a couple Skellige storm into my monster deck and using the leader card for getting a weather card can really help that front row heavy deck shine. I use all my decks really, Northern Realms for tough opponents, Scoiatael with the biting frost leader ability against monster decks can be helpful, Nilfgaard is probably my favorite for spy heavy, use the leader ability to draw from opponents library to grab one of my spies on the next round. What I like best about Gwent is that it's against npcs rather than people like MTG Arena, because whenever I have the upper hand, people forfeit. Did you post a strategy guide to either Gwent tournament?

  • @alishehab190
    @alishehab190 2 года назад +2

There is a combo with Crache as leader and Skellige faction ability that I found very useful. Since the faction ability garuntees a +2 card advantage in the third round, it's very good to go all out on that turn. However, it will return any random 2 cards on the field which isn't ideal.
If however, you win the first round and still have two strong cards in your hand that you'd like revived for the last round (like beserkers) you can do the following:
Play the two cards you want in the second round then use your leader ability and pass. That way you can garuntee that they'll be revived in the last round (since now they are the only two in the discard pile) and you force your opponent to waste at least 3 cards in the second round. This like a +5 advantage because your opponent has to waste at least 3 cards in second round and you gain a +2 in last round

Such a love/hate relationship with this deck, it’s incredibly difficult to find consistency due to the different play styles it can create the King Bran/Skellige storm tactic is fun where you just spam weather and your cards are protected but due to the lack of draw power it’s inconsistent, the decoy/muster tactic with gaunter o’dimm and crach as leader seems the best but is surprisingly weak, by far the best strategy is using berserkers with crach

    • @Razor1473
      @Razor1473 2 года назад +2

I know, such insane potential, but held back by it's lack of draw power. Like sure you could potentially get the triple shield maidens *and* Cerys in your starting to be able to play them separately, then use Crach's ability and be able to resummon them with Cerys. But even with a tightly controlled deck, that happens maybe 1 in 10 times. Honestly if anything I hate how only 2 factions having spies insanely overpowers them, there had to be a better way to implement the mechanic.

WHat I liked about the skeliig deck is that it feels you need to plan more and think more in order to win. With the NR and the N decks is a way too easy to win, I barely have to put any thought into it. You do have to plan more with the monster deck but its not really fun to play with that one because your strategy is just putting a shit ton of cards in the board. With Skellige, there are so many variations and things you can do that sometimes you have to pull off some crazy stuff to come out on top, specially when you are starting the deck

I was actually surprised how much I liked it, when I learned you can combine decoys with the Crach shuffle ability. If you can decoy off one of a muster group during turn 1 or 2, then shuffle the discard pile (with the dead muster units). Now you can play that entire muster group again. It's even better if you can ensure that one unit of the muster group is one the board during round 2, then shuffle before the end of the round. If you only have a couple of cards in play during that round, you are likely to draw that card automatically during round 3 with your faction ability. So, you get a free muster group along with whatever other card it drew. So, you can end up with 6 cards on the board at the beginning of round 3 if you do this with two muster groups.

basically you always should choose a unit card over a special card, simply because there are no restrictions on special cards but there are on unit cards.
You want your deck to be as small as possible to increase the chances to get the right cards but you MUST have 22 unit cards.
Merging a unit card with a special card essentially fills in for a unit card from the 22 minimum.

The amount of times i had to retry due the absurd amount of spies using this very deck that you show here was insane. Not blaming your deck in fact i think it's the best Skellige build by far, it's just that Nilfgard is so broken against anything but Northern realms or a mirror match ( Nilfgaard ) due to the insane amount of spies. Love this video, many thanks! I'd been hearing a lot of hate towards the skellige deck and people claiming it could be taken down far too easily with scorch and spies but I wanted to give it a go myself, plus obviously there's the tournament to beat with skellige only that i needed to practice for. I'm usually strictly NR, but I love the extra forward thinking this deck requires.
After a bit of playing around I ended up using the exact same deck as you, although I tend to leave Draig out because I was so rarely drawing longships anyway and he was becoming far too situational. I also only ever use crach cause I love how much he fucks with Nilf, NR and Scoia. Now thanks to your help I won the entire tournament without a single loss, plus win virtually every game I go into against every faction. I don't see Kambi pop up as much as I like but he's definitely something easy enough to work around if he's not drawn. I've also been trying the 'fail round 2 if situation permits' tactic and found it works wonders when you're able to get rid of the discard pile, slam down your two strongest cards, pass then see them pop back up in round 3.

The spy will draw 2 cards for you though and that 6 point pirate should be a scorch for the ranged line, there's a scorch for the close combat and siege line already, plus an all rows scorch

Who would you say is the hardest main NPC to beat in Gwent? Not including all the shop keepers or people in inns someone who would give you a tough time maybe even on Medium difficulty not to mention Hard
Plus my strategy with Crach an Craite leader is to win first round and go into the second round to lose but use the leader ability and play two cards I want into the third round say if i was to lure out any Scorches or weather cards by playing two tight bond cards that way by the end of the round they're the only two in the discard pile and they come straight back out in the third round ready to finish my opponent off for the win with the other cards i save for round three
I keep editing this as I watch the video to make points on certain cards....my decoy trick is to decoy any and all spies when against a Nilfgaardian deck and play them in the second round (one I want to lose) so that I can max my draw out for the third round as much as possible not worrying too much about them using a medic on them in the third round as I can take the point bonus to mine and in most of my gwent games I've been lucky and they haven't drawn anything which turns the game in their favor that late in.

The only opponent that ever made me change my deck was in the real Gwent tournament at Passiflora. The chick who had the Nilf deck was a massive pain in the ass to beat with the NR deck I was running at the time. If you watch the tournament video on the channel you'll see that's the only time I wound up swapping to a Monster deck just for a quick win.

i have a question about the skellige deck. I recently bought the gwent cards and me and my friends play with it all the time. my question is, when i play gwent in real life, not on the pc, do i need to have the transformed bears in the deck along with the berserkers to use them, or is it enough to just have the berserkers and the bear on the side? the same question come with the cow and kambi.
I dont know how this works in the witcher 3 game, if it is automaticly replaced with the hemdall, bears or bovine defence force...

It’s not a bad deck but some of it’s design seems vestigial. Tbh I stopped running Berzerkers and the muster to get better tight bond card draw. So much has to align for those berzerkers to be really powerful. If you only get one young berserker plus a transform card I generally think the opportunity cost of using two cards to get one 8 point card is not worth it

In the end, after a solid 3 hours of playtesting, I decided to remove the berserker cards completely, remove all muster cards except Shield Mates, fuck outta here to that butt-pirate, 22 creatures, loads of heroes, only front-row critters... with only 3 Skellige Storm as spells. No Decoy, no Scorch, no Horns... only Storm. In the end, It was easily the best combinaison I came up with.

The deck I’m having the most success with is focusing on berserkers to abuse Crach’s shuffle ability, So win round 1 bait round 2 shuffle win round 3 it’s still kinda weak to Niflgard decks but mostly obliterates everyone else
    24 cards
    2x Mardroeme
    Geralt
    Ciri
    Yennefer
    Avallach
    Villentretenmerth
    Dandelion
    Hjalmar
    Ermion
    Cerys
    3x Shield Maiden
    3x Light Longship
    3x Young Berserker
    Berserker
    Olaf
    Birna Bran
    Kambi
The goal is to win round 1 by playing heroes like Geralt/Ciri early, Kambi, and of course the longships if drawn, always return the shield maidens if drawn or mardroeme if double drawn
Round 2 try and spam berserkers, ermion or Olaf, Yennefer + Birna Bran can revive them if they are scorched early bc they will also be revived next round; also if Kambi was played Hemdall just adds more to it; but at some point shuffle before round 3 making sure the only cards in graveyard by the end of the round are the evolved berserkers or Olaf Your opponent will likely scorch or out card you so pass
Round 3 then should always start you with 2 13/14 powered cards or double young berserkers so at least 27-33 power off the bat, if you can try and save dandelion and Cerys for this round or an extra hero you will always get to 100ish easy sometimes saving Yennefer/birna for this round helps too

I will have to say though, the Skellige deck does provide a good bit of enjoyment when playing it. Switch it with o'dimm's cards and add a commanders horn , added with the leaders ability to shuffle back to your deck with a good use of decoys, you're good to go.

A 35 cards deck. U are basically lower ur synergy. The pirate scorch card is great if u synergize w the leader ability. Best use is in round 1. For this deck, i tend to win round 1, then leader ability to reset discard pile then set up the transformed bear in round 2. Round 3 should always be a win. If there is no scorch pirate then i can lose round 1 set up bears in round 2 and win the next 2 round. If i see no bears at drawing then i throw away the transform ability cards or even ermion cuz there no use for both.
