100+ hours of playing this game and numerous amounts of gwent battles and I never knew the 2 redraws at the beginning of the games were optional...
lol, lucky that I read your comment
@Rakkety Tam i didn‘t know that… 200+ hours…
How?
What?!
Lol wtf
The game in the 53rd minute is too funny. I mean, the opponent plays Cerys and has none of the Drummond Shield Maidens in his deck, then plays his Skellige Storm which ends up making him use four cards to win the first round leaving him with two total cards against your six for the final two rounds xD
a better strategy for second round in that first game would have been to medic out the bear, then decoy the medic, get the other bear, shuffle away the graveyard, and pass - that forces a crapton of resources from your opponent (he hast to get 45+ to win), and when the third round comes, you don't risk getting a useless kambi or shield maiden, but you get either both bears, or one bear + birna bran (so both bears either way).
also - probably should have gambled on redrawing that shield maiden in the first place (no harm in doing so).
I know this is a really old video but i had to thank you, i played the whole of Witcher 3 with Gwent on easy mode and the Northern Realms Deck, but managed to win the Toussaint tournament on the first try, normal difficulty, with your skellige deck build and after watching this video. Cheers
Love Gwent I have acquired every card in the game
You can get every card in story mode?
@@LogickalP Yes, just be aware of some cards that can be missed easily for the rest of the game.
4 years later. I’m on my way!! Lol
Imagine that you could play vs online. That'd be cool.
Isn't there a Gwent standalone game coming out?
There is indeed. www.playgwent.com/en
However, I believe he was referring to being able to play vs online within the existing game, which would be very cool.
^^^
Not really, this wasn't balanced around being able to play against other players, as a result there are some pretty obvious imbalances and everyone would probably play Northern or Nilfgard since spies are so damn good.
Thank you so much for all your hard work it has been fantastic! Everything I know of this game I have learned from your videos (I have watch ALL of them several times!)
and it is the best out there.... Truly appreciate your efforts!
Wow, that's very kind of you to say. I'm glad you've been finding the content on the channel to be helpful. Thanks for watching!
You should do this episode again now that the next gen upgrade is here. To see if they changed anything in the update. I really enjoy this series and have watched it several times. Just an idea.
26.01- Evil laugh of eminent victory!
Couldn't help but notice you completely let that spy card go, even though you have two decoys. A bold strategy
Bold is my middle name. Mr. "Bold" Codeslinger. ;) Although, after playing so many games they all tend to blur together so more likely than not it was just an oversight, but don't tell anyone... ;)
It's weird that neither you nor your opponents seem to use weather cards. I always used weather, and found that every bot did as well. Frost is usually my secret weapon against high-level monster deck players, who always pull the vampires and crones in the final round. And I always tried to have one in reserve, because they always had a clear weather. But it seems as though because you've cleared them to make room for berzerkers and psilocybin, the AI tends not to use them against you all that often. I think I saw a weather card pulled out maybe three or four times in all of these games.
@MrCodeslinger Kind of a newcomer here. I generally enjoy your videos, though I can't understand why you play spies before you would put down the muster ship card. I usually put them down in the first round, basically to ensure that I won't waste my spy on them, and occasionally to bait out a scorch (and I play heavily on bears and like to get to the 3rd round, so I always reschuffle the muster ships after they went into the graveyard, often in the beginning of the 2nd round). Maybe I don't value that card enough, but I think 12 points aren't so much that it would be worth the risk of getting another one of them instead of a hero card or sg.
Another thing is that I think there's a lot of potential in Cerys' maidens when you use the Crach hero card, bc you use them before using Crach, reschuffle, and then put down Cerys and you get a lot of points easily.
I assume the things I wrote aren't new to you, because I see how deeply you understand the decks of this game, I just find it weird that you do this regularly with this deck (and when you explain the strategy to monster deck, you point out that one doesn't want to use avallach before using all the muster cards)
Respect btw
Exactly how I play this Deck. I just Hope every time that I get Cerys and all shield maiden bc
They fuck decks like monsters and scoia'tel, if you play and shuffle it right
Maaan I've been having so much trouble beating the tournament in BaW, gonna binge your videos, hopefully pick up some strats and go back and beat em. What's your basic thought process during redraws for this deck? I feel like that's what keeps effing me. Great videos though!
I kept the redraw sequence in all of the zone based versus vids so you'll definitely get a feel for it when watching. More or less, I'm trying to get only one of a muster group, matching tight bonds and matching berserk cards as well as picking up decoys when I have a draw or opponent that I can reliably use them with / against.
Decoys the wrong spy, get scorched ... beautiful.
Big oof
The Scoiaʼtael commander plays a biting frost from your deck, aka. you need one in the deck for the ability to be usable. So of course she has one in the deck :)
7:16 you can decoy out kambi (or the cow) and it still summons the other card
In the first game for the 2nd round you really should have utilized Birma to get Kambi then decoy birma for the next round for both bears.
Well outside of that I hope you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching Brandon.
Second match you should have bounced the 4 power spy
Koragg, I know it is hard to believe, but even I'm not perfect ALL the time. ;) Thanks for watching!
Nice vid, some pretty entertaining games there with helpful strategy insights. Btw, that last guy's name isn't "Sommelier," a sommelier is a professional wine expert who recommends wines to people.
A) His last name is whatever I say it is, it could be Sommelier and I could call him Mr. Asshat and his name would be Mr. Asshat. ;) B) To put things into historical context many people's last names used to be tied to their professions such as Carpenter, Thatcher, Shoemaker, etc., etc. ...so that literally could be his name. :)
MrCodeslinger haha, true I guess
Haven't played the skellige deck yet. for the summoning angel card, can you not play decoy and keep playing it to add cards in the one round?
You'd get 4 points from Olaf in ranged row on the first game 3rd round, because the bears would double the +1 morale boost giving +2 for each, and that would be better move there than to put Olaf in melee row.
In the 1st game you play Ermion to win the round instead of Olaf when Olaf can be mediced out the discard pile. Just why?!?
Why do people decoy the highest spy card instead of the lowest? Giving the opponent more points?
normally the ai decoys and gives you back the points, placing you in a better position.
@@kade721 Aah ok. Thanks! :)
@@kade721 but here it gave opponent a good scorch. He was glad to see AI use it but -20 is imo too good of a "bait" to be beneficial for him.
I still don't know how to play this minigame
45:15how is a 4 going to garner a scorch when the opponent has a 5 on the board? 🤪
What is the armor he has on Geralt at the start of the video?
It's the New Moon armor. You can get it in the Hearts of Stone DLC.
@@Danny-no7jp thanks, i played through it once but it seems I've missed it
@@OffishallyDedd You can buy it from certain vendors, or find it in Ewald Borsidi's hideout.
@@Danny-no7jp i just completed the heist and got it, thanks!
You can't draw a bear? Because you have to transform them? So you can't have them on your hand because you wouldn't be able to play them?
I can barely draw stick figures... definitely not a bear.
What a beast. I suck at Gwent so I usually play on easy 🤣
Skellige deck, the most powerful deck in the if you wanna have the highest chance of winning.
Fucking hate it tho, Nilfgardian deck for life brah
y do ur cards look different ??
The Ballad Heroes DLC updated some of the artwork on Neutral cards. I think I have it turned on in the video so you either A) have it turned off or B) don't have it installed. That's the difference you're seeing. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Learn more about scorch…
Skelliga deck sucks it has no spy cards makes it a horrible deck. I seriously hate this deck so many awesome cards yet because you have no spy card you cant play them unless you get the perfect draw. Wtf where did you get that spy card????
