Two super wintery books which quite literally gave me chills are The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden and I Remember You by Yrsa Sigurdardottir. The first is the start to a historical fantasy trilogy set in Russia which centers house spirits and winter demons against people bringing the new religion of Christianity. The second is a supernatural Icelandic story set in an isolated fishing village during the off-season where three friends are supposed to be alone on the island as they renovate a home. It soon becomes clear theirs is not the only presence on the island. It also follows another set of characters who are investigating the violent vandalism of a preschool and the subsequent suicide of an elderly woman.
Hi Syn, greetings again from Toronto 🇨🇦. I hope you are well. Working on Christmas day? Thanks for the video, lots of interesting books. I will check out Dead of Winter, even though Darcy Coates is hit or miss with me. I will see if my library has books by Brom. I will also check out Boys in the Valley. The Winter Garden also looks cool (no pun intended). Favourite winter reads are The Shining, A Christmas Carol, The Left Hand of Darkness (SF) by Ursula K LeGuin and Ghost Story (horror) by Peter Straub. Have a great New Year’s!
Out of all of these Boys in the Valley is my fav. Ghost Story by Peter Straub is one I want to get to at some point in time, it's on my TBR. Nice choices for winter reads! Hope you have a great New Year's as well.😊
Dead of Winter was so obvious as far as the whodonit, but I still thought it was a lot of fun. Dark Matter by Michelle Paver is a favorite of mine, and Ghost Story by Peter Straub.
Do you have any favorite winter-themed books?

I’ll have to look those up. Both premises sound pretty good. Thank you for sharing these!☺️📚❄️

The Shining is peak winter horror. But Misery is crazy. That movie/book is so cockadoodie intense. 😂
