0:50 the pole on the front is called A Wire Catcher, it was used because GIs would drive with the windshields down and the enemy would place strands of barb wire across roads and paths taking off the heads of troops. So they came up with a piece of angle iron that has a notch at the top that breaks it while driving through it. I have one for my ww2 jeep once it gets restored
The purpose of the bar on the front of the Jeep was that during WW2, Americans would ride with the windshield down, the Germans noticed this and put fishing lines on the trees, which decapitated Americans when they drove through. The bar was meant to cut the fishing line.
