    • @davidvivsik6576

      I think they'll just go around the storm if necessary. Also, I think that although some of the garbage will go through, most of it will stay. Nothing is perfect and this will definitely help make the oceans cleaner. Also, the ship is what's pulling the pipe. It's not gonna be going over it.

    • @cobysayo3701
      @cobysayo3701 7 лет назад +3

      No, nothing is pulling the pipes.. it says it moves with the waves. The boat in the video is only collecting the plastic and it does so periodically.

    Doesn't cover the deep stuff and the micro-plastics though. I expect more plastic goes in the ocean each year than we are taking out of it anyway. We need a find a way to destroy plastic and stop using it completely. Then figure a way to filter the micro-plastics out.
    This method will only buy some time to be honest.

    • @surreal9558
      @surreal9558 5 лет назад +8

      no more oil, which means large demand for it, which then means the value of money drops while the value of oil increases twentyfold, which then turns into rioting, which then turns into a calm, which then everyone freaks out because we can't do much at all now, as oil is a major product, then manufacturing slows down, which means less product, which means higher value for many products, money deflates again, a probable overthrow of presidential power, the democratic-republic then turns into a probable people's communist party, the US then falls like the Soviet Union.
      That's a pretty accurate representation of what's going to happen basically.

      Hey I also have this great idea that involves some anchors and motors and a net, where's my 30 million dollars? Sure I don't have a working prototype, sure the math still isn't behind it, sure this wasn't designed to clean the most densely polluted areas even though it's supposed to clean out the pollution but I should definitely get double digit millions right? Oh also it only MIGHT work but we should possibly know more than a year from now. Haha dip shits no working prototype and substantial undeniable tests no funding, this project has neither. But please wallow in your hate and ignorance keyboard warriors I drink your anger and tears.

    • @walgrashon2410
      @walgrashon2410 7 лет назад

      +OK! But then again. I'm not sure what you're trying to get at and half of what you said made no sense, so please clarify what you're trying to say. I am guessing you're not very good at the English language due to your fragmented sentences that are hard to understand. Also thank you for those sources but my point still stands if anything you fortified it by showing me he's backed by companies that only would invest in such products if he has inside connections that require a shit ton of materials to put into effect this making an expensive product; not an actual good invention. Also once again the source you provided trying to say it "works" showed no schematics or simulations with explained parameters and variable to justify this will even remotely work at "cleaning the ocean". Then last but not least to put the nail in your coffin yes some hypothetical subjects they touch on could work but they only have a fraction of it working and not on a life sized scale either. So once again please give me double digit millions of dollars for my "this might work in 2018 plan please". You tried though.

      Matjaž Bajt How is 50% in 5 years not much of a difference?

    • @MajorStarHog
      @MajorStarHog 7 лет назад +6

      +Teus I don't believe for 1 second that that number is anywhere close to reality. That number is so optimistic considering how the thing works that I can't call it anything but a good way to sell the idea. If a good salesman wanted to sell this to someone he would publicly estimate it might clean up around 50% of the trash in that area according to whatever and he will have their attention but in reality the salesman would know it most likely won't happen and I think this is just the case.
      I mean how many devices would be necessary for a 50% cleaning in 5 years, there is no number there, not even an estimate only the sentence "Computation models show a full-scale deployment will lead to a 50 %
      reduction of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 5 years’ time. ". So a full scale deployment is what, 100 of these things, 1000, 2000, 10 000.. So I guess if they go on with a project and don't reach the 50% cleaning in 5 years then I guess we can only blame that the full scale deployment wasn't achieved even if we don't know what that means in numbers.
      The idea is simple, cost effective and just great in general but it will take a much longer time to reduce the trash in that area of the sea and also I believe the current prototype model will certainly be upgraded due to the flaws with testing. You gotta test things before you can perfect them.

The KNOW that most of the plastics are near the surface; they have to be...it's a matter of density...you see, but that would be one of those pesky "SCIENCE" things. MUCH easier to just keep making "stuff" up.
