    Paramount + has really improved CBS, ShowTime and the on-demand. They need a DVR for the live sports.

    John & Nicole, great video! Boy, I think you guys are spot on here. I have both the ad-free Paramount Plus and HBO Max, and I couldn't be happier. There's so much great content between the two that I wound up dropping peacock, Hulu and Netflix. Here's a funny coincidence, I got so tired of all the ads on Paramount a couple months ago and knew the new season of Star Trek was coming, decided to pay 99.99 for the annual ad free plan. The very next day they announced the price was increasing to 119.99 but they were adding Showtime. I got my lower amount locked in for one year, and I'm honestly surprised how much I'm enjoying Showtime. I think if someone's on the fence regarding Paramount plus with Showtime, they won't be sorry. But like you guys, my favorite is still HBO Max. 😊

      We know you're somewhat disappointed with Max, especially re: Discovery+ content. We read this week that D+ cancellations were up at a decent clip in June. Makes us wonder how long people who aren't happy with Max, for the same issue, how long will they stay.

    I currently have both Max and Paramount ad free annual plans. I will continue again with annual plans to save money. My only grip is with Paramount which may seem petty, but it makes me mad to have to sit through and ad for some show before my selection starts with no way to skip the ad.

    • @FrugalRules

    I've seen a few movies on Paramount+ that were sub-Public Domain VHS quality. (Most of their "old" ones). Services like Max and Netflix would never charge for such poor quality content. I pay for Paramount+ (mainly for Star Trek and soccer) - but, in my opinion, there's no comparison.

    As someone who is ambivalent at best about reality television, I give the slightest edge to Paramount Plus Showtime. I would have gone to HBO Max with a wider margin, but even now each app are probably one and two in quality. As Disney+ continues to build toward its Hulu integration, it will challenge in more than numbers and sentiment.

    • @FrugalRules
      @FrugalRules  Год назад +1

      Agreed, as Disney+ ramps that up it will be interesting to see how it impacts numbers. Max does have a lot of reality content, thanks in part to its inclusion of Discovery+ content. We can't think of a reality show we've watched on it though...we typically stay away from that style of content.

    Great comparison as always. I have Paramount+ and was happy with it before they added Showtime. I also have Discovery+ and when I heard (at the beginning) that Max was going to have ALL of Discovery+ content as well...I was gearing up to try Max. Now that I know it does not have everything Discovery+ has, I can't justify getting Max (and keeping D+). I might (might) switch if Max and Discovery+ had been a complete merger/combination. Thank you guys for what you do!

    I was a subscriber to HBO max for a long time but changed over to paramount plus with showtime ad free recently for a number of reasons one the price is good and it does not cost more for 4K unlike max. Paramount has some really good tv shows and movies some recent ones added are Oscar winners or nominated , paramount has live channels like cbs, cbsnews , showtime . For me max seems to have less movies now but lots of reality shows it has changed too much from HBO max and I just don’t like the changes .

  • @dathyr1

    Good topic. I feel they are both very good, but it depends on who gets the rights to stream the new movies first, being a movie person. I liked HBO MAX during the pandemic months. I know we can flip flop back and forth depending on what new movies we like - no contracts to stick by. Wonder if in the future if this will ever change and become like cable companies with contracts.
    Time shall Tell. Nothing stays the same in this world.
