Had to DIY a 240 last year from out champion generator to our Big Aims inverter for the off grid cabin. Well... shed to house! I did have to tin the ends since it was going into a terminal block. Fun project all in all. Ok watching.
I noticed in the instructions they had the wires split like a v before inserting in each terminal... Does it matter, saw that you kept wire together and tightened. Thank you! Getting ready to replace mine, so this has been very helpful. Was hoping I could cut the plug and save some wire but this seems easier

That is the way I've always installed the wires. Both ways are good, just make sure the connections are tight.
