    I met Igor Senin at a Balalaika at a Domra Players Association of America convention years ago. (BDAA). Played Kamarinskaya and "Russian Tears" for him. He is an amazing artist. I have many old Ossipov Orchestra LPs in my collection. This is one of the best groups for this sort of music. Valenki played here is very popular song. Just recently learned it for accordion.

    I saw the Osipov perform back in 1968 or '69 when they performed at East Carolina University in North Carolina, USA. They were great then and I've NEVER forgotten the wonderfully joyous, mournful and sublimely beautiful music of Russia!

    It's hard to decide who I like better in the cadenza: Concertmaster Senin or young virtuosa Turina. Her best performance is with Matsuev as a solo performer.
    Senin is an amazing section leader, and this recording shows more to the strength of the full Osipov, rather than one musician.
    Astonishing!! Brava!!!

      Hey Shaurya, I think it's the sound of glissandos played at the beautiful Clavichord Guslis (it took me a while, finding out the name 😅) in the front of the orchestra. You can see it at 2:42.

    Thank you, Salih, for posting this video! It is always a pleasure to watch the great balalaika concert master, Igor Senin, seated on the right, and his colleagues perform classic Russian Folk Music, as only the Russians can do it! Do you have any other selections from this performance at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, in Moscow, that you could include on your channel? Many thanks, again!

      I watched this video on youtube for the first time. Then the video was deleted. it took me weeks to find this orchestra that I remembered only its melody. And I decided to upload this video to youtube for other people to watch. Unfortunately, I only have this video of this orchestra. Thanks for your informative comment.

      Hi again, Salih: The name of this work is “Valenki,” and it is part of the most popular repertoire of Russian Folk Music one can hear in Moscow’s concert halls today. Mr. Igor Senin’s performance with The Osipov Balalaika Orchestra in your video is the best I’ve seen on RUclips, although they have posted earlier presentations of the same piece that are very nice as well. I hope you will keep this one up as long as possible. I like to show it to friends who come to my house and also on the big screen at our church’s auditorium to demonstrate what is available on “Russian TV”! It is always a crowd pleaser!

    • @hauptmannbalalaika
      @hauptmannbalalaika 2 года назад

      @@garygiuffre I also recognized 'Valenki' which actually means felt shoes, or maybe felt boots - from the times when that was what the poor could afford. Ruslanova was of that time and sang it so well. Whether she was the first to popularize it, I don't know. You may find more videos when using the spelling I know Ossipov, or the German spelling Ossipow, maybe French Ossipoff? Fantastic arrangement and execution, hat off!
