Nice trip report! There are currently no eurostar trains at all stopping at Ashford and Ebbsfleet, and Eurostar aren't planning on using them anytime soon, as they focus on their main hubs for economical reasons. They lost quite a bit of money during covid and took out the smaller stations for their routes.
It's a shame, when I recorded this,.it was also the same situation. I was hoping this has changed when I published this video but actually not. I understand the use for main hubs however it would be great to see Eurostar trains to other places than just London.
Also when traveling in the UK, if you can, always book in advance (I suggest a minimum of 2 weeks for the best prices, and directly with the operator in question where possible, although all UK TOC's will sell you a ticket for any UK operator), as well as making use of "Split Tickets" (I especially save a fortune doing this). Another good way for savings, is the use of "Rover" type of tickets, which could be for the day (Like Derbyshire Wayfairer, which also covers bus travel in Derbyshire), a few days, a week etc.
So you need to walk for 40 minutes from the ferry to Dover Priory. Wow. And then negotiate another obstacle course of automatic barriers. In the old days, you walked down a foot ramp, crossed a platform at Dover Western Docks and embarked on the train which took you directly to London Victoria. They call it "progress" I believe.
Good report. When leaving Dover station, is it clearly marked for the walk to the cruise port? I didn't see a cab station, and I heard that Dover taxi's may not take credit cards. Do you have any information on this?
I just used Google maps for directions. Actually, I didn't notice directions because of this. Honestly, I almost never take a cab because they're often overpriced.
@TheJm, Taxi's in the UK, are very hit / miss with taking card payments outside the main cities, so be prepared. That said, both Uber and Bolt (I tend to use Bolt myself) should be available.
@@stanmarsh14 Thanks for the info. I never heard of or used Bolt before, but I do use Uber. Do you think Uber is sufficient for the UK or should I consider Bolt?

@@Trainviking oh absolutely, I really hope they will combine some of the Eurostar routes with the Thalys ones to Germany now it's one company
2:22 In the UK the CTRL is now called HS1.
Aahhh, makes more sense with the extention of the network.

@@TheJm129 yes should be, but you can have both apps on your phone to cover all issues.
At what time of day did you travel from Dover?
It was somewhere in the evening, don't know the exact time anymore (it was in September 2022)
@@Trainviking Thank you very much for the reply. I really enjoy your content! My best wishes go out to you and your dears.
The IC225 should’ve been operating at the same speeds - vandalised by someone at BR!!!
"this is a southeastern service to St Pancras International..." and? 😅
