Rewatching it now, it feels ironic watching him realizing he can't get out of mr robot's reality, seeing mr robot as a monster, who's blocked him away, and knowing now where he himself has been keeping the real Elliot all this time even back then.
Even Eliot realized that his character is a lie, and at the end let his ego go away, make the audience question what is real and what is not. What a brilliant drama!
This is one of my favorite TV episodes ever made. The fact it didn't feel out of place is amazing, and a TGIF type sitcom was actually a apt metaphor for the problems America ignores....
I think it might show how powerful MM is compared to Mr. Robot. While Mr. Robot's limbo resembles some shitty sitcom he's not able to completely control, MM's limbo is an almost perfect recreation of reality wrapped up in an endless time loop, which real Elliot could never see through
Imo "real Elliot" (I suppose you're talking post-nuclear-plant-dream-stuff-Elliot) wasn't ever actually trapped in a timeloop, because that would mean various alters being conscious at the same time and I don't think that's how D.I.D. works/ that our mind is capable of that.
I always thought Elliot had fallen into a coma during this scene but now I realise it was actually Mr. Robot taking over his conscious so he could take the beating. Just as Real Elliot was put into Mastermind's false world throughout the show, in this scene, Mastermind was placed into Mr. Robot's.
you know the idea that when you go to sleep you mainly dream about stuff you saw during the day and time before sleeping? yeah, this perfectly demonstrates that concept.
When I was in highschool , one night this came on tv my friend and I never watched Mr. Robot before , this was the first episode we'd ever seen and needless to say we were confused but extremely amused. I later went on to watch the entire show , I never knew how great of a show it would turn out to be. Currently is and probably will remain my favorite show of all time
This entire episode was brilliant! The video of him getting his ass beat on Darlene's gameboy was dope along with Tyrell jumping into the green screen.
I really hope the writers on _WandaVision_ were inspired by this episode. Down Alice went into the rabbit hole. The viewer knows there’s something darker underneath the surface. I think the attack is what keeps the audience engaged past the sitcom gimmick.
3:32 This is such a horrifying line with the later context that it throws into question if Mr Robot is actually helping by saving Elliot from the beating
S4 ending spoilers below: I like to think that this is happening from the perspective of Original Elliot, sitting in the Cinema from the end of the last episode. As he was stuck in an endless loop of various scenes, that could pretty much be one of them, when unexpected happened and New Elliot aka Mastermind entered the imaginary world. The Original Elliot was acting a bit like a child in the Season 4, like he did not really care (truly and absolutely) even about the fact that there is his exact copy in his room. Only at first he wanted to call police but then was like "Meh, does not matter". I feel like he is also part of these laughs of the audience, making fun of very confused New Elliot. It also explains why other personalities kept New Elliot in the dark, so many many times. He was after all a rouge personality, which took to much power and even forget about its original goal and identity. Nothing strange with them getting a bit of revenge even though New Elliot has no idea why they are doing it. The quite bizarre situation really, everything that happened throughout the series is like a joke that first New Elliot was playing on Other Personalities and then it all went too far and no one was sure anymore who should be laughing. I feel that is the perspective of New Elliot, after all he did create all the personalities to shield himself from the world, New Elliot being the ultimate answer to that need. It is fair to assume Original Elliot's personality is that of a carefree child, a bit like Gandalf or Monkey D. Luffy but with a psychotic twist to it.
Wasn't Elliot The Mastermind sitting in the Cinema, I thought it was hinting that. The Original Elliot finally came through and officially fronted after being in The Masterminds fake, repetitive version of America. And when a personality isn't fronted, they're sitting back and watching from the TV screen. But it's a great theory, it's an ending you can say a lot about, and it might just mean various things... Maybe this is the one scene we won't officially decrypt unless Sam Esmail talks about it, which he might of done already...
This scene I guess, was just trying to infer that the world though full of sh1t and chaos out there, is made to be all hunky dory by the sh1tty daily shows or something like that. Elliot realizes it and is unable to fathom, how people around him are so ignorant about it!! Which Mr Robot says at 4:37 too.
and it WAS 12 seconds. the last frame that we see of cop Gideon is at the 2:06 mark, and at 2:18, Elliot says his line. this show is nth but great work honestly.
So was Ray almost beating the life/Elliot moving his dark web website real? Or was it a hallucination, since Ray was the warden and it's common in prison to get jumped?
It was real. Ray ran his website from inside the prison-Elliot works on his website from Ray’s office, which is the only place in prison where he can access a terminal.
@@googa8859 What's strange though, is that towards the end of Elliot's self-induced hallucination of season two (him being in a neighborhood as opposed to a prison) Ray and his bodyguard (the guy who was beating people up) were arrested--and yet when Elliot leaves the prison at the end of season two, you still see them there... That doesn't quite make sense to me. If they were arrested, why were they still there unless that storyline about the website wasn't real? A possible theory being that he could have hallucinated that as well to maintain his sanity through being imprisoned, and was just getting jumped by people there (i.e. his injuries).
@@kbee8517I think when we saw Ray and his goon still active in the prison, that was just a flashback intercut with the present. Ray was arrested and taken away, but we “See” him just so the show can fill in the holes and questions we and the audience have. To put it more simply, I think when we “See” Ray as the warden after he’s arrested, that’s just visual exposition.
TheLoneWanderer is no one going to point out the fact that she didn’t even disappear and is still very clearly sitting in the car, also I doubt it’s the original Elliot since Alf refers to him as E-Master
