The sound quality is poor, but you can feel the energy, the virtuosity of the musicians. Love this band. Perhaps Eric's best work very well could be Layla.......I do think it's one of the greatest albums of all time.

Layla is a Bobby Whitlock album.

Jim Gordon was one helluva drummer. Apparently, he and EC had their issues.

He was (has been) lucky of having (Clapton /Gordon) written after "Layla. Wealthy x ever

live club date or Miami demo - it's the deal. Was this Eric's favorite ever combo?

Wow, this is so cool! And Clapton with an LP to boot in the still. Always thought it was a mistake that he totally abandoned it for the Strat. And I agree with Baci302, without Bobby Whitlock this album doesn't even exist. It's a crime against classic rock that this band didn't put out more than one studio album. And it has to be Clapton's ego that he never worked with Whitlock again after this, a shame.

I am sorry, but Bobby thinks he is better than he is

@@pabloperez4063 That may be true, but that does not change my opinion about the album. Clapton needed another songwriter to pull that album together. Bobby Whitlock is no Steve Winwood, but he's what Clapton needed and without him that album doesn't exist, and that is not even debatable.

I think that's Bobby Whitlock singing, with Eric. Is Duane on this?

No Duane, this is from before they met him.

I thought it was after they recorded the album and Duane went back to the Allman's instead of touring with Eric and the band.

Tom Caswell - Duane Allman played the slide on the original. This show was a couple of months after they returned to England from Miami. Duane stayed back in the US to tour with the Allman Brothers.

John G - It is. Tom Caswell is a bloviating attention-seeker.
