      Hi. I live in Taiwan and have lived in China. The US' official position is that Taiwan's status is an unsettled question. It doesn't deny or affirm Taiwanese statehood, but the reality is that Taiwan has its own democratic government, military, and identity. Frankly, those things are worth defending for people here, and only 1 percent want to unify with PRC. Why would we? Taiwan citizens enjoy far more freedom, higher per capita GDP, less economic inequality, higher rates of women in office than US or UK, single-payer healthcare, LGBTQ rights, Indigenous recognition and rights (China doesn't recognize its Indigenous peoples as such), real labor unions, etc. The US and the world know that Taiwan is a country and unwilling to unify, but we all pretend not to, to avert war.

    • @lagrangewei
      @lagrangewei 11 месяцев назад +5

      @@feelin_fine you are incorrect, US official position on Taiwan is settle, it does not recognise Taiwan. this is why there is no US embassy in Taiwan. one can argue Crimea and Palestine has it own democratic government, military and identity, that does not mean US recognise them. you either do or you don't and US simply does not. to claim China doesn't recognise indigenous people is just igorance, the indigenous people of Taiwan live on the east coast, I suggest you look at WHO THEY VOTE FOR. yes the native of Taiwan vote for pro china parties. because the "identity" of Taiwan you are talking about is a threat to them as it seek to define "Taiwanese" a CHINESE WORD about chinese who live in Taiwan as the defacto owner of the island. to understand this, think about what "american" means to the native american... it means their land is taken from them and the "american" culture is replace with one that is based on the colonizers. so it is silly to argue they have an identity without realizing that identity is a colonial chinese one.

If you're sanctioning the protagonist, the Chinese general on the other side, it's perfectly normal for the other side to request the removal of the dialogue b4 pursuing any more dialogue. Or China could also slap sanction on general Austin or general Milley and that will be even and dialogue can happen in Singapore instead.

It is for them to decide and no one else. That is the US position. The US Navy will also continue to sail international waters to ensure they are open for trade and access to everyone. It is wise to just keep the dialog open, make sure our military leaders are in contact to avoid accidents, and not to change anything right now.

US MUST really learn that China’s hospitality in “welcoming” Blinken is just Chinese courtesy to visitors to their house even for strangers. If Blinken thought that his visit is successful, he is naive about Chinese culture and don’t underestimate the Chinese inability to see through US hypocritical moves and actions.
    Blinken even has the cheek to talk about China’s human rights in Xinjiang, provocative actions on Taiwan and too friendly with Russia when in actual fact US is the one creating all those in the first place. If US is sincere in wanting to talk to China, then it must stopped all such hypocrisy IMMEDIATELY ! Otherwise, as China had reacted correctly lately, there’s no point in further meeting let alone talking !

    Furthermore, even only from what Blinken has said above, one can easily conclude that, just like many other things the U$ does, it has undertaken this visit purely for the show. To show itself as the good guy who wants to talk and resolve 'differences' through diplomacy. But we all know of the countless unprovoked U$ аttacks on Сhina in the last several years. Was there a typo mistake on "Secy" with the correct letter X as of X-Rated, not C, as of Chicken 🐔?🤔?..Please have any ESL professors proofread before airings for "LIVE" on UTUBE..😉😉..
