This store is a very poor performer for Macy’s. Even since it opened nine years ago, it never did well. The only reason they opened were the incentives the mall and town offered them in 2012. They would close, but their lease runs through 2025, I believe, or somewhere in that timeframe. It costs less for them to just wait it out instead of paying to terminate the lease. However, since Boston Store closed, they have seen an uptick in sales, so who knows what the future holds.
@@davis6123 Macys Inc has classified this store as a neighborhood store back in February 2020 before the pandemic hit. Macys planned to close all the neighborhood stores by 2022 as part of there 3 year polaris strategy plan. But if this stores numbers continue to improve then who knows.
@@retailhiphop1991 Had not seen that they designated this as a neighborhood store, but not surprised. The location was making some progress after Boston Store closed, sales were up in the double digits percentage wise in the following months. Not sure how COVID has affected this store, but wouldn’t be surprised if it derailed that progress. Where can you see which stores have been designated as neighborhood stores?
