The dispatcher is so very cool, everything under control.. the close ups of the beautiful ornate bricks, so sad that such a building is almost destroyed!
I gotta say this. Detroit firefighters are some of the best in the USA and rest of the world. The city is basically broke financially now. And they don't have all of the equipment (Like new equipment they're stuck using old and not always properly functioning) also some of their rigs are long over due to be replaced and I'm sure they malfunction like some of their equipment does. And also the lack of manpower issues as well. But they do a hell of a job improvising and getting these fires out in a timely manner regardless. Just wanted to give DFD a shout out. You make us proud and are perfect examples of how to do and get the job done! Keep on pushing and keep up the great work DFD! Thin Red Line baby! 💯🔥🚒💪
One of the usually unknown problems facing DFD today is the lack of young recruits. I believe I saw the average start age is like 45 years old. These guys rock at what they're doing!!
If that wasn't vacant their could've been no way to send in a firefighter for primary search it looked like it was gonna flashover any minute with that thick smoke and fire rolling out of the attic/roof
Does Ladder 13 still run with Engine 33? It's been years since I've visited a Detroit firehouse, last time I was at Engine 33, Detroit was still running their old white over yellow rigs and Ladder 13 I believe was an American LaFrance Century TDA
The D sure could use a few tower ladders. Maybe something newer than that 1948 Sutphen So it may not be a 1948 but any other community they would have already upgraded at least 3 times.
You know Detroit was bankruptcity. So no new aparatus could be bought. In 2017 all squads will be replaced by new ones also three new platforms and three new ladder trucks, light trucks, engines will coming in.
Kevin Simpson not much I would say 400 gallons or so. That's what my old dept held. one was a E One the other I am not sure about. What I do know is that both of them had there own pumps. No waiting for a engine to supply water. We could hook right up to the hydrant.
DFD has so much working fires and a less of resources. Firefighters there are hard working heroes. In NYC this incident would be a four or five alarmer. 😄
i THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER FOR THAT STRAIGHT LADDER WITH LADDER PIPE TO HAVE BEEN POSITIIONED ON THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING, AND THINK IT WOULD HAVE QUICKLY KNOCKED DOWN A MAJORITY OF THE FIRE. Seems that had to wait on the Tower Ladder, and deploying one 2.5 line would have had a big effect also. Have heard that dispatcher and always impressive!
@@BeytekinConstructionMachinery - Ohh, that's right... If the derelicts are burned, preferebly to the ground, the rubble doesn't cost the city (or the respective owner) as much to have pulled apart and carted away!
@@BeytekinConstructionMachinery Yeah, the video always ends while it's still on fire. Sometimes you'll get a car video that shows it to the end, but that's it.
Mostly not. That was the reason for me to ask the Deputy Comissioner for spent some time with the arson guys. But we didn't come together. Thx for watching.
i also like how they check with each Truck to see if they arrived on scene or enroute to the scene, unless they have to since the trucks are old, but Detroit still does have nice trucks though
Too bad they can't be caught and made to fight fires they set on the front lines....let them eat a little heat and smoke and put their lives on the line...
Detroit has been in the War Years since the 70s. Pretty much after the riots is when things started to take off. 800 actual fires on Devils Night every year in the 80s..They never have got the respect they deserve. 3 man rigs for as long as I can remember. FDNY hasnt ever had 3 man rigs as far as Ive heard.
The dispatcher is so very cool, everything under control.. the close ups of the beautiful ornate bricks, so sad that such a building is almost destroyed!
They have well trained dispatchers and some with a looooooong time experience.
kudos to the dispatcher. Very calm and assuring voice!

Jake, thank you for your loooooong comment!
DFD got and get a lot of new rigs. New bunker gear will coming soon. Step by step it's going better.
One of the usually unknown problems facing DFD today is the lack of young recruits. I believe I saw the average start age is like 45 years old. These guys rock at what they're doing!!
I like the commentary on this you get the despatch person telling the firefighters where to go what to do.
Thank you Kevin!
This is some amazing footage
Thx a lot! 😁 You got a sub.
Such a shame these abandoned buildings going up like this!
I keep Detroit in my prayers, that some day soon she'll be back on her feet!
Step by step Detroit is on a better way now.
firebrigade101 not if the current administration in D.C. Has their way...
Not a shame at all. They should be demolished but the city can't afford it. Saving junk structures is silly.
If that wasn't vacant their could've been no way to send in a firefighter for primary search it looked like it was gonna flashover any minute with that thick smoke and fire rolling out of the attic/roof
Wow! It was a huge fire! Nice scene video and beautiful engines! :)👍
Yes, a bigger blaze. Have 'n nice sunday!
Thanks!
what beautiful fire engines and just what caused the the building to go up in flames like that anyway eh ? and greetings from canada
Great footage Ben! Can't believe I missed this one!
Yeah, bad ride in that heavy rain but nice scenery on scene. Best regards.
It just goes to show that thousands of gallons of water takes quite a while to defeat the fire
All the older wood inside had given fuel to the flames. Happy New Year!
you've got bigger and better fire trucks than what we've got in the U.K.
Or like here in Germany. ;-)
LOL....that young man at about 12 minutes can't wait to bust loose with that 2.5"
Keep safe out there brothers and sisters.
Texas retired, 29 years.
Yeah, and I like the moment the chief laughs about that! :-)
Some of the best fire operations video I've had the privilege to see.
Thank you so much Sir!

Yes. That ladder company was disbanded in 2013 and reorganized in 2016.
Benjamin Beytekin Thanks. Last I remember of 13, wasn't that the truck the driver stopped on an Amtrak line and it got nailed pretty good?
YES!

wow one hell of a fire! does Detroit have much landscape left that hasn't been on fire?
Yes, some nice neighborhoods. But lot of gone houses over decades - so there are a lot of waste land too.
My whole neighborhood is gone! Grew up in the Brightmoor neighborhood of Detroit.
Yes, it's sad what happend to most Detroit neighborhoods in the last decades. An American shame... Nevertheless a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
@@BeytekinConstructionMachinery Happy New Year!

Yes it was. Heavy rain helped a lot!

In 1990 I was driving a 1947 ALF 100' ladder that had been refurbished in 1977! Oh I hated that truck!
Lived in the D 20+ years... the steady erosion drove me out.
Oh, sad. Where're you living now? Any chance you move back to Detroit?
Bought a nice place near lake michigan but I miss the chaos and diversity.
Superbly done video Ben!
Thank you so much Larry!
WOW ! starke Aufnahmen
Danke!
How many gallons of water do the turntable ladders hold?

this is a very nice coverage. colors are beautiful. perfect ☺
Merci bien Jean!
Could someone answer my question: How does a fire start on the third floor of a vacant boarded-up apartment building? Is magic involved?
I told, that there was aliving a gang and set the fire. ;-)
They got it down faster than fdny would even with their old apparatus.
DFD has so much working fires and a less of resources. Firefighters there are hard working heroes. In NYC this incident would be a four or five alarmer. 😄
Very nice quality video.
Thanks for posting it.
Thank you for the compliment and for watching!
I wonder how often google street view cars go through Detroit to keep on all this destruction?
Hehehe, daily tours!
another great video Ben!!!!

I was on the right. in the FDNY Ladder 5 T-shirt under the blue umbrella. wildfirevideosWNY was to my left - he is my son
Awesome video brother!
Thank you so much brother! Hope you're fine.
Welcome. Im doing alright, i hope you're fine too brother.
Nice job Benjamin!
Thx a lot buddy! ;-)
I love the music
Thx
Too bad. That's actually one of the nice areas of Detroit.
Nice neighborhood and mostly nice hispanic people there.
Of course! Vacant and abandoned... Possibly not the first fire...
Looking forward that night - Devil's Night!

good service
I remember this fire. Some crazy homeless guy said he was going to set fire to this building. Shorty after that, it was in flames.
🤕
They never show it to the end for some odd reason.
Which end did you mean? Fire extinguishing?
@@BeytekinConstructionMachinery Yeah, the video always ends while it's still on fire. Sometimes you'll get a car video that shows it to the end, but that's it.
A shame and a waste. Many years ago, this looked like a decent place to live.
It was very nice with large apts.My aunt lived there for several years.

please tell ladder 17 they can turn their wipers off...
I used to live near here.
Cool! Hope no more arsons or? Regards!
why? it was occupied less then 3 years ago?
Arson by a younger persons gang who lived there.
sorry to hear that

3:04 look at smoke in window's he get i in bulding from outside
Fire needs air and sucked in the smoke / air form outside to insde.
Chief you need two more ladders

Phew! That was some fight!
Mind blowing technology

Except for the proper funding. But I see your point. DFD is a kick-ass group of dedicated, courageous firefighters doing the impossible everyday!

This fire department doesn't know anything about distances of ladders to high-voltage lines!
Well, you see, some lines has the protections on.
Dilapidated, boarded-up and a blight on the community. Answer : Surround, Drown and Contain, problem solved.

People in Detriot love fire they burn so many buildings!
