I will forever love Jimmy Eat World; I have been listening to them for as long as I can remember (they formed a year before I was born). I think Taylor Swift's song was genius, & the fact that this version is so heartfelt shows that it can span generations. It can mean something to Jimmy Eat World & their audience, which is decidedly older than me, as well as Taylor Swift & hers, which is mostly a bit younger than me.
A+ all around.
Ive heard literally hundreds of Taylor covers, and I think this is the best one. I always come back to it

This is crazy good, it's like a good song when they sing it.
Like it or not, it's quite genius. A good single is a catchy song that gets your attention. Plus, there are lots of people who like the song. I don't see why you have to hate on this song?

Got to disagree with SpriteBat. The song is a catchy pop tune. Nothing more, nothing less. And Taylor Swift is VERY good at that. It's neat to see reinventions like this, when people boil down a song and then fill it back up with their own ideas. This shows really well how much songwriting is affected by it's presentation: this sounds like a completely different song because of the instrumentation and meter. I love it!

A think a band should experiment. As Jimmy Eat World always has. Given that you don't know the correct name of the album (its not plural) I'm going to assume you didnt listen to it very much. I didnt love it at first. And that has never happened for me with a JEW album, but tell you what, keep listening and you WILL love Damage. I can't turn it off.

The goal of a top-40 song is to be catchy and repetitive. Just like all the Classic Rock anthems that we all enjoy are mostly catchy and repetitive with very short verses. If you listen to Swift's Red album, you'll realize those teeny-bopper singles she released were marketing ploys for radio play. The rest of the album is lyrically and musically well crafted. To each their own music taste though.
