  • In this video, I demonstrate how to make Pineapple Golden Balls, a delightful treat often enjoyed during Chinese New Year. The recipe often includes making a buttery dough and a sweet pineapple filling.
    Ingredients for the dough:
    360g all-purpose flour
    2 tbsp custard powder
    250g butter (softened)
    1 egg yolk
    50g icing sugar
    For the filling:
    350g pineapple paste (rolled into 5g balls)
    For the egg wash:
    1 egg yolk
    2 tbsp milk
    Instructions:
    1. Mix flour and custard powder in a bowl. Add softened butter and icing sugar, then mix until crumbly.
    2. Incorporate the egg yolk to form a soft dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
    3. Roll the pineapple paste into 5g balls.
    4. Roll out the dough into 10g portions, place a pineapple ball in the center, fold, and pinch to seal.
    5. Prepare an egg wash with egg yolk and milk, brushing it over each ball.
    6. Bake at 180 degrees C for 15 - 20 minutes until golden brown.
    These golden balls are perfect for sharing with friends or enjoy as a sweet treat anytime!
