There's nothing wrong with quality beef in any dish and I argue beef is more nutritional than chicken. From how grossly most chickens are raised (packed in barns with little room to move) and then all the added hormones, beef actually isn't as bad for you as the world tries to tell you. Beef has a source rich of iron that the body needs for proper function. And it's more easily absorbed by the body than iron found in other foods. Chicken doesn't contain as much iron so unless you're getting pounds of chicken a week or of iron rich veggies and nuts, you'll probably end up anemic or close. So if you're not a vegetarian or have anything against eating cows, help yourself to any quality cut or prepared dish with beef! Your red blood cells will thank you!

I love to try different oriental restaurants, but my favorite type is still the American Chinese. I don't eat out enough to care about how healthy it is, I'm there for the occasional treat. I have cooked my own versions at home, mostly fried rice with ginger root and garlic, egg and veggies. I love Egg Foo Yung, but hard to find one I like, now that so many older restaurants have closed. Occasionally I'll buy canned oriental vegetables and make my own at home. Also a good way to use up leftovers, or just add sautéed fresh bean sprouts, mushrooms, green onions and whatever I feel like, top it with a gravy or a sauce made from pan drippings, broth or water and soy sauce.

Good grief, Mashed, if you’re gonna warn everyone to avoid Chinese dishes cooked in oil, covered in sodium or sugar, or made with noodles 🙄, then you might as well advise people to avoid American Chinese restaurants altogether. This video is kinda ridiculous. I should’ve stopped watching after you slammed fried rice, of all things. But morbid curiosity kept me watching, and now I wish I hadn’t wondered what kind of video this would be in the first place. That’ll learn me.

The Chinese staff in a restaurant in Las Vegas took us to a place outside town after hours where many of them would eat. Cheap and yum as as you can can't believe. Don't know if its still there, or others like it, but it qualifies as a "major secret" in my books. NEVER eat at the chinese restaurants. Ask the staff where to go.

Furthermore, most of their information is outdated for significant parts of the country. Those cholesterol levels assume wok-frying or deep-frying in lard. Many cities and states have outlawed lard in restaurants and mandate low- or no-cholesterol alternatives, such as safflower oil.

Cheap and fast? Then it's going to be fried. Extra time to trim the fat during prep? Nope. American culture always looked at chinese cuisine as low down cheap. There are quality dishes, and yeah, they are at the proper restaurants. They have the $40-80 to $100+.look at bbq meats. Shredded pork, ribs. You think they'll take extra 20 minutes per rack to trim out the excess fat that buried in the meat? No, rough slice of what's visible, and into the smoker.

I try not to go to the channel "Eat This, Not That" because they make me feel guilty AF. I feel horrible now, so this couldn't be a Mashed video.
