  • The Boat Anchor Buick 350 has been completed, efi is installed and we get things ready to hang a cheap GT45 Turbski right off the front of this bone stocker just to see what the 80's Grand National 3.8 Liter recipe does to it's Bigger and Bolder Brother!

I'm Blue Oval for over 40 years, but the GN was the most successful execution of a factory hot rod. Like a USA version of a WRX.👍

I guess a 300 would be closest to a 3.8 with two extra cylinders. I can't wait to hear that thing scream!

Yeah, they have the same style of exhaust port. I put a hot air turbo regal header on a 300, and it just needs some length in the middle of the log and a 4th primary added. A turbo 300 would be cool too...

    • @DanEBoyd
      @DanEBoyd 8 месяцев назад

@@HSTvids357 Probably be easier to actually build one from tubing stock and some flat pieces, like you would a set of headers. Just build it in the log manifold format instead, and it will be way easier than headers with their long primaries which need to be carefully routed.

If you run the oil drain back to the timing cover you can send extra oil to the distributor gear and timing chain. Probably would be a good idea to run the oil through an oil cooler first so it's not super heated turbo oil draining on the distributor and cam gears and chain.
This would make it super simple for the guy doing this that has the engine installed in the car already.
And the number 1 performance upgrade for a sbb 350 is good pistons that aren't .080" in the hole with a head gasket installed. The pistons that AutoTec makes for the sbb 350 work great.😎👍

I firmly believe that with a girdle, forged bottom end and rotating assembly, with a haltech computer and coil on valve covers like the LS along with some hellaciously worked aluminum heads and intake, you can make a 1,000 plus hp with a turbo OR an F1X pro charger and of course intercooler.
I understand that you are doing it on a budget with parts you already have mostly.
I’ve been wanting to do this for years but money tied up in business and not expendable has kept me from it. I’ve got 2 GNs sitting here a hour away from u on the TN/KY border. Sold all my V8 Buicks years ago. Inherited a GN last year.
The GNs would start detonating over 14 lbs boost even though the stock waste gate was actually set at 16 lbs of boost so we had to back them down back in the day to get more efficient performance. I’d start at 14 with good octane. Only downside is you don’t have the forged internals.
Look forward to seeing your progress.

I've completed that swap of 350 SBB into 1976 Skyhawk. I put it together in the late 1990s and still have the car. I take it for a spin a couple times a week. Try ks_skyhawk

If you get the v6 HEI for computer control and swap the ring, pickup from like a chevy v8 and the 350 ti.ming gear you have an easy efi distributor. I sis this for a 455.

You're getting gooder. Run ls coils so you can vary timing cylinder to cylinder.

My estimates based on stock 1973 Buick 350 factory ratings and 15psi of boost. It should be close to 520hp and 740 ft/lbs.

Interesting video. I’d be curious as to how that engine would run in your Suburban. Especially with the twin pitch. Fuel mileage and torque?? Maybe.

I wish you the best of luck with your operation. A 215 stroker is very cool but have you considered using a Rover block? You can get one of those with a 3.700" bore. If you didn't already know about D&D in Michigan, they have lots of info and products to help with your build.😎👍
