- On my drive home from the exhaust video spot, I saw a muffler shop that I never noticed before and pulled into the parking lot. This was 4PM on Black Friday. We rolled the car in and had the resonators deleted in less than 45 minutes!

Stay tuned for more crazy!
Everyone calm down. He took it to an exhaust shop. They do this everyday. They used the right pipe, welded properly, and gave him a decent price. There is nothing to really mess up. It's cutting and replacing pipe.
Bingo!
Indeed pro work!
Allan Harris it's called an x pipe.the most aggressive sounding as well and very loud. They have x and h pipes
Alex1234845 I did this to my truck and man, souds like a truck now!
AWD Mustang?? Must be watching too many Ken Block videos.
I can't believe u didn't get the AWD. Unsubed.
what ?
+Daniel Shulman watch the video
please tell me that was sarcasm. people these days. smh
NihselAuto LOL
7:56 😂😂😂
After seeing your plate they probably think GT 350's come with a turbo I6 to go along with the AWD
All wheel drive Mustang?
Shit, I forgot this is a muffler shop in Florida :-)
Oh yeah maybe not in this version lmao
was that a joke? I'm not really sure lol..are these guys really that clueless regarding vehicles?
Jason 56 Most of this guys don't live on the internet they just talk it out with people.
SpyderRios you have to live on the internet to know that Ford has never made an AWD mustang?
they did...for ken block ; D
If it was me getting work done, and the tech asked why I didn't get the AWD version of the GT350....stop everything, and gimme my car back cuz you ain't TOUCHING it. GTFO
Yeah, that was a bit cringe-worthy. I know it must have been tough for Matt. He had to second guess pulling in there after that question.
bykrdood7 im pretty sure the guy was talking about the AWD mustang Ken block has...at least I hope he was talking about that one lol
Didn't bother me one bit.
bykrdood7 in all fairness I don't think that would be an indicator of wether or not they can work on something. Now let's say the piping fell off half way home ...
cutting a pipe section, not replacing engine
I think the chick wanted to go for a ride....
Haha.
"If you're test driving I'm riding along"
Matt was quick with that not broken in engine response. I don't blame him.
Yea.. Not broken in.. More line lock testing needed...
"Not broken in." when he said earlier in the video that he did 40 red line runs. ha
$90 sounds like a pretty solid deal!
T-WRX Good price. I can't believe people pay hundreds for muffler delete kits.
T-WRX i paid $70 for my reso delete on my charger.
T-WRX paid $80 for my res delete. No tax or anything, they did a great job too
Yea and it's two resonators so that's 45 bucks each!
Just got quoted $257 from Midas to do the delete where are you guys going :(
where you go Midas? good thing you stuck around, they would have welded on a few cheery Bombs if you weren't there.
BigpoppaKC no lol
Muffler Man
Who thinks a third video is on its way tonight?
Working on it... I won't have it done.
Oh well, there's always tomorrow. There are at least 6 of us rootin' for you, Matt. Thanks for all the cool stuff you do... much appreciated.
Come on man you ended with that? Come on Matt lets get that going!
Matt, please tell me that guy was goofin about the "awd model".. lmboo
Get your stuff done at Lamotta Performance in Longwood, FL if you want someone who knows what they're doing with these cars.
+Josh H they didn't weld the exhaust all the way around. So technically there is an exhaust leak
Depending on what his plans are, you just added a section of aluminized steel in an otherwise stainless exhaust. I think he planned to go aftermarket exhaust anyway, that section of pipe will rust much sooner. Personally I'd have had stainless sections tig welded in. The work they did for what they have isn't really "wrong" it's just muffler shop stuff.
Notifications on because this is one of my favorite channels
Thanks!
Obsessed Garage hey....u can check out the competition magnaflow catback exhaust with 4"tips ... they're just awesome one the gt350 or the R model !!👍👍
This is how I've always done resonator deletes, looks like they did a great job and gave you a very reasonable price!
"90 bucks cool?"
"oh yeah...."
Totally should have started it with the open X-pipe. Would have been so loud!
can't wait to hear the beast now
It doesn't sound a whole lot different.
someone who goes to the extent of trimming the sprue nubs off there tires then takes there car and has this done by roadside mechanics................makes no sense
This was an exhaust shop. This is what they do all day, everyday.
Obsessed Garage I understand that they were a muffler shop but it doesn't mean there good at what they do. to each his own, I just wouldn't have taken a car like that to a place like that. that's all I'm saying
Why would you bring your GT350 to a random shop and have them hack it up. WTH. You seem very meticulous about your cars so this is surprising.
You guys have such an unrealistic idea of what a shop that works on cars looks like. These guys do this stuff all day everyday. Do we expect them to have master's degrees and a sterile working conditions? You could take it to a dealer with all their fancy equipment, and they wouldn't have a clue how to do any of this.
muffler shops always put me on edge.
if its simple to change the shifter, well why don't you do it lol
No doubt these guys are super talented with fabrication but it looks like they used aluminized exhaust pipe and welded it to the 409 stainless OEM exhaust. If that's the case, the welds will rust away in no time.
Before everyone blasts the poor muffler shop guy.. he has a valid point to the AWD mustang. A reputable mustang news source reported last year that perhaps ford was working on an AWD variation of the mustang.. The reason for this? The front hubs on the GT 350 have splines on them just like an AWD front hub would have. IMO it was likely a hub sourced from another application to save cost.. since the hubs on the 350 are different from the standard GT and have a severe duty style bearing. That's where that rumor came from, that's the power of the internet and people only knowing a portion of the story.
*You should do the Cat Delete too.*
I have some OCD tendencies when it comes to my cars and this shitty execution of a simple mod is against everything Obsessed garage is supposed to be. The WorksMANSHIP Looks Like shit.
I've done hundred of modifications on my cars. Some have gone well, some have not. About 75% of them I've done myself. My guess is you haven't been to many shops to have work done on your car. I got the same comments when I had monoball mounts done to my M3. I think people expect the shop to look like the McLaren production facility and an MIT grad in a racing suit and $100 silk gloves to come out and cut the resonators off my car. This is simple, cut the pipe, weld it, done. That's it. There is nothing more to it. If I had a welder, I would have done it myself on the floor of my wash bay. Would that have been better? I would have banged stuff around, dragged the exhaust on the concrete, cut the pipe with a sawzall holding in in place with my foot, and welded it with little to no experience. Would that have been better? Or should I have taken this to a dealership with nice facilities that has never done anything like this before and had them fumble through it?
There is no reason for me to be defensive of these guys. I don't know them, I probably will have no reason to go back to that shop, but they did exactly what I asked efficiently and properly. This dream that people have that I'm going to drive to Kansas to find the best mig welder in the world to cut my cheap factory exhaust is insane. There is not benefit to that. Cut the pipe, weld another piece in place. That's it. The welds look exactly, I mean exactly, like the welds that held the resonator in place. Basically Ford took their GT350R exhaust and welded in a resonator.
Obsessed Garage
no no I don't mean you should be doing this yourself or traveling to a high-end facility where the floors are cleaner than in a hospital. however this looks like a shitty job done with very little skill and your car and your channel is certainly deserving better. I expect to see an exhaust leak soon, maybe some rattles when the shitty welds covered with spray can exhaust sealer break.
time for a muffler and cat delete am i rite. xD
ANTHONYTheBoMB the only problem with a muffler delete on this is that you'd lose the option to change from 2 exhaust tips to all 4 tips.
Exactly what we want to see! Bunch of dudes standing around cutting pipes and literally zero clips of the sound after the work. Amazing contribution here
Does deleting the resonator void your warranty?
No, it does not.
I'm having mine clamped rather than welded.
Where was the shop? I work at the BMW dealership you bought the M3 from lol!
+Mr. Leesbirg
Just subscribed
Didn’t know the gt350r didn’t have resonators
what good does it do getting rid of those
Louder, more airflow
" it only has 800 miles on it its not broken in ill bring it back" earlier- " i did about 40 passes up to redline earlier"
Joke
All wheel drive? can't know everything I guess. If you know how to weld pipe that's good enough for welding pipe.
did they even weld around the top ?
Yes
''i just did 40 pulls to redline'' .......10 minutes later, ''yeah sorry it hasn't been broken in yet'' LOLOLOL
Take it to the specialist they'll fix it for me. Take it to the pros and they dont dont even know shit half the time. Dude was giving reasons on why not to cut it. Shoulda been like dude its gonna sound bad ass with no resonators they serve zero purpose. Then you tellin him how and where to cut you couldve honestly saved yourself time and money by cutting it of yourself.
Back to back uploads.
Nice!
Muffler Man?
Yes, it was in Leesburg...
Thought so.
Yep
impulse move, love it! Get it done now.....
I never thought you'd hack that badass sounding factory exhaust set up.I honestly thought you were just gonna do intake and maybe long tube headders and a tune and call it a day.Looking forward to the next video!
I won't be surprised if ford makes an AWD by 2020....
No fucking way I’d let those two hayseeds work on my GT350.
Sounded like a $670 Corsa double X- pipes !! Less $$$ nice 👍
I’d get the boila lol.
How about the all wheel drive model 🤣🤣🤣🤣
He says the easiest modification hes ever done yet he literally didnt do anything
Joey Almeida he paid for it with his car if you didn't pay for it it wouldn't be done think about that
i REALLY wanted to see inside the resonators! anyhow ive always said if you want steel welded a decent muffler shop guy is usually a master at welding for the simple fact that many states require an airtight exhaust, so no holes in the weld or pops when he was welding...just a nice smooth gzzzzzzzzzzt sound and welding upside down sucks so anyone who mastered that is the best
freakin cool dude cant wait to see more matt
be curious to see how the toggle adjustable exhaust works. is there a cable or motor activator near the mufflers.
I think it's an electronic motor.
Haha, not quite sure there is an awd version for the mustang. Would be interesting though!
Nice teaser Matt. Didn't get to really hear it after! Welds looked great, the welder used the "dental mirror" to check the top of the pipes, so you won't have any leaks. For $90, this was a good deal.
Editing the video now!
I don't think Ford has ever made a production awd mustang lolol
I will be going with a CF driveshaft on my GT350. Better build quality, better joints, less rotational mass, makes sense to me.
Troy Power Is that carbon fiber driveshaft even gonna work? the guys at SVTPerformance FORUM asked the GT350'S CHIEF ENGINEER why the GT500 had a CF driveshaft and the GT350 didnt. the Chief Engineer said that the CF driveshaft wasn't stiff enough to endure the extra vibration from the Flat plane crank engine.
“We needed the stiffest driveshaft we could get, he added. “We looked at a carbon-fiber driveshaft and we couldn’t get it stiff enough, so we went with the two-piece steel.”
Said Jamal Hameedi a.k.a Mr Chief Engineer.
What is most ironic is that the pre-production GT350 used for the reveal in Las Vegas, looked to be sporting a CF shaft. quote from svtperformance.com article.
So they really tried.
www.svtperformance.com/2014/12/01/video-jamal-hameedi-interview/
I did the same to my Fiesta ST before i went full 3in
That's probably the best looking factory exhaust I've ever seen. Pretty d@mn nice!
*It's even got Factory Mandrel Bent Headers.*
I bought a Corsa Double Helix X-Pipe for the resonator delete on mine. But Ford dealer says that it will void my warranty. You were cool with potentially voiding your warranty making this modification?
There is no such thing as voiding your warranty. That dealer doesn't know what they are talking about.
all wheel drive mustang..... well ok then lol
I can’t imagine you going to a place like this now
nice group of guys but did he just claim there is an AWD model?!?!? he definitely wasn't joking either lol
Nicholas Mangione yeah there is a awd mustang but its custom made jaja
Just an fyi, don't remove those harmonic balancers (or whatever you call those orange things hanging off your cats are called). We did and it wasn't a month before the vibration from the flat plane crank popped the rear exhaust hanger welds.
Great tip.
Does your active exhaust still work ? Like changing the modes from quiet to loud ?
Wondering because I have the same exact car that I bought last month.
Yep, this doesn't affect the valves.
thanks
What did you hate about it? I remember I had a 2015 GT and i got a custom exhaust, It had a drone that drovee insane, literally. I then though to myself, why did i do this!
I don't like the disorganization, cracking, and popping the resonator delete give. I prefer a more civilized note.
I can't believe you let Gomer work on your car
I have had my GT350 since February 2016, I've contemplated doing this to my exhaust. But don't really want to deal with the possible rattle or additional rasp. I'm just on the fence on this one. Any advice would be appreciated.
I hated it, but I'm in the minority.
Well the GT350R comes with no resonators from factory
Your 45 min wait is our 11 min wait lol
I did a resonator delete on mine a few months ago, it's loud! shop had to make a new 3" pipe section...cost $120.00...took couple hours...you can view my video by just searching my name Louis Adney...enjoy
Listened to your vid on the resonator delete. Sounds good
It doesn't sound much different to me other than some extra rasp.
Cant believe I watched with anticipation....and then don't even get to listen to it! What was all that about then?
Umm....
So an almost 12 min vid of some cutting and welding and a tease at the end with no before and after ? Some YTers are terrible people.
I guess I can't win them all. I put up five other videos this weekend. This was the conclusion of my weekend. I ran out of daylight.
The only thing about these muffler shops is a lot of the time they don't have people helping them that are professionals. I remember when I took my GT Mustang to get a resonator delete and when they cut the stock system off the front and back parts of the exhaust were not supported and just fell down when they made the cut like your front one did. Also they had to take off the back part of the muffler and they were about to pull it off without unhooking the active exhaust, it was a good thing I was watching and told them it had to be unhooked. Next when they put the exhaust back they didn't align the Mufflers. I just don't feel comfortable taking my GT350 to these shops because of this. I think I will probably just keep the stock system, it sounds damn good anyway.
LoL the AWD comment...
TURBO I6v lol awesome
that can't possibly make a big difference should have deleted the axle back instead
It doesn't. It's very subtle. Certainly not a big enough change for me. But worth $90.
Seem like a pretty shitty job.. Every welder is screaming inside
Welds look identical to factory ones we cut off.
Is that Sam from Game of Thrones?!
So much for saving the stock resonators .... they do make an after market delete that’s fits perfectly well with out hacking your exhaust up. Just sayin .....all wheel drive huh ???
Yeeeeeeeeeees
Damn.. $90 for res delete on a $60,000 car..
I paid $200 for a muffler delete on my ecoboost Mustang Lol.. but then again the tips alone were $40 each so I guess it wasn't too bad.
They too did the job in literally 30 minutes.. cut both mufflers, bent new straight through pipes, welded with hangars and everything in half an hour tops.
Other than the new Dodge there isn't any other awd American muscle cars. The only one in existence still is the 1965 mustang prototype most people don't know about.
second
Teaser
Ur gonna regret modding ur nice factory setup.
Pulling out resonators is gonna put a drone or vibes into the system at certain revs, loads, etc.
Also that pipe quality isn't as good as the factory's.
Scary thing is these guys know nothing about the car.
I hope u took the old pipes with u . You're gonna want them.
That's a lot of definites in one post.
nibot kram have you seen any of the other videos? It's not like he's a newbie at this...he literally installed 16 exhausts on his GT3 before finding the right one.
lets hear her purr
What an awesome feeling that is when you go beyond that point of no return.....Ha Ha! AWD Shelby mustang GT 350 funny., looking forward to the next vid, happy holidays.
how much in USA this "Garage" took from you for this service??
$90
Obsessed Garage wooow thats cheep
this was such a tease, only giving us start up lol. can't wait for the next video
As the co-owner of a GT-350, all I can ask is....why?
It's the most common, simple modification on the GT350. I didn't like it and eventually changed to the ARH full exhaust.
If I owned this car, I wouldn't be taking it to the local mom and pop muffler shop for $90. Did they replace it with titanium sections?
Ha, ha... My experience with titanium is not so great with exhausts. The resonant frequency of the metal is much different and tends to sound very thin to me. No to mention the rest of the exhaust is stainless steel, so titanium wouldn't work.
OK. I guess the rest of the exhaust was heat treated where it got that color whereas the new sections they installed were not. Anyway, sweet ride... One that many of us want but can't afford (or get, even if we could).
Its possible, over video I wondered the same thing. Then I had it done with my charger and they really don't need that much space to weld the top area. He has to weld the whole thing, not just far as he can go, are itll mess with sound an I also think itll pop up a code for a leak maybe, not 100% sure
Trying to improve on the sound with a resonator delete at Cooters Garage......didn't see this coming.
LOL "TURBO I6". Old plates from the M, I'm sure. I should get "4 BANGR" for mine.
The welding could've been better
Looked exactly like the factory welds on the resonator.
Says the car is not broken in yet but did 40 redline runs. Smh
Come on man, that was a joke.
Any problems with the way you did your delete? I just got a 2017 gt 350. And I want to delete the res.
Shortly after doing this, I had to change the exhaust. I really didn't like how it sounded after deleting the resonators.
Obsessed Garage thanks for the reply. What did u end up putting on you 350?
i wonder if the guy was getting confused with the AWD uk mondeo because the rear suspension is very similar if not the same
Hey Matt get a roush exhaust on it. My friend has it and his car screams. If you don't like it aggressive and loud do not get roush hahaha
Does Roush have one for the GT350 yet?
Obsessed Garage i'm not sure he has a GT. You could go to AmericanMuscle.con they have all the info there.
had mine deleted today, it sounds amazing, the only thing is this annoying vibrating sound inside the cabin near the glove box, i looked if theres a loose metal or coins etc in there, theres nothing, its annoying.
Surprisingly mine has zero rattles.
thanks for the reply..love your channel.
You should have welded in a soup can. WTH? You have the money, spend it on a quality exhaust. Yes what you did does work but looks like shit. Hey homer, booger weld me an exhaust please.
This is the first standard mod on the GT350 that most do. You might be right though. I'm not sure that I like the way it sounds.
Some web sites have sound clips for different exhausts. That's what I did and love how my Mustang sounds over stock. Love the vids!

Seems like they did fine with the cutting work. Not sure I'd trust them on a shifter replacement requiring a trans drop.
$90 bucks for a resonator delete I definitely got ripped of with mine then 😭 then again I also got a new muffler welded on too
So we waited all that time and we got two wee revvs from the exhaust? Fuck sake man
Would you come and be my camera man?
Obsessed Garage
Well it seems like you found it hard to let it record for 10 seconds longer so yeah! I will send my 1 year old to do it :)
Basically my point is this; The viewing public clicked on this video to HEAR a de restricted nice muscle car, instead we watched a grease monkey hack an exhaust and then reverse the car out a garage...even that was cut short.
See you in 10 hours :)
I had a feeling it would sound like that, thank you for your time. Aftet chatting with you, I don't believe I will be doing this. Also, I believe there is no HP gain.
Should've left it. Like the exhaust is worth a lot of money now it's just scrap
The factory exhaust is worth maybe $200. That is if you could find someone that needed one for some reason.
Obsessed Garage ya you're the reason
Delete? What the fuck, is it a fucking email? I've removed a lot of things from vehicles, never deleted anything from a vehicle.
What would prefer I call it?
Obsessed Garage Remove and replace. You removed the resonator and replaced with a pipe.
Obsessed Garage it's a delete. Nice, love it
