- Shout-out to CRAIG in this video!! 😉 😉 😉 This particular version of the 6 Strand French Sennit comes from the Rigging Handbook by Brion Toss. If you are wanting to buy a book that is packed with decorative knotting projects, this is not the book for that. This book is dedicated to Rigging for sailing vessels. It is packed full of technical stuff that a rigger would need and want to know. However, there are a couple of decorative projects within the book, and this sennit is part of a decorative knife lanyard shown in the book.
I did find with this particular 6 Strand Sennit, it was a little more difficult to achieve a good even finish. I wonder if, my cordage that I am using is starting to loose it's hard lay qualities, or I was a little to keen to get through this project?
The formula for this 6 strand sennit is as follows; Split the leads into two sets of three (left and right), far left lead over one, under one and then to the bottom right. The far right lead is then passed under one and over two and becomes the bottom left lead.
This particular 6 Strand French Sennit is often used when creating say, decorative knife lanyards, neck lanyards or even as part of a decorative surround on a picture frame.

Nicely done. Thank you for sharing. Wish you well.
Cheers, thanks again for leaving a comment.
Another key ring possibility - coming over to the dark side (though this is a macrame knot too) 13/5 08:07
So I am finishing off a 8 strand Conquistador knot fob, and I have about a foot of cord left on each strand, what would you suggest adding to finish the fob off?
Perhaps put a Matthew Walker Knot at the end, or a Star Knot or perhaps a Multi Strand Diamond Knot. This playlist has those within it: ruclips.net/p/PL7nysDkNnZHeVqirqzmWRE5-NiG6Ce-TZ
I like the different patterns produced by these sennits. Very easy to follow, as always, thanks.
I did notice that with the cord I used, it was a little uneven, I think I had used it too many times other videos.
@@KnottingKnots Sure, why not, a refresh would be good. We previously mentioned color contrast. Two colors would make these sennits jump.
Good video , thanks for sharing , God bless !
Ever reliable............. thanks mate.
Not to nitpick but you said over under when you meant under over
This is what I hate about videos, the mistake are there forever!!! Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.
Thanks Johnny! That’s cool. How can I send you a video?

You make it look easy .....I'll give it a go....have a great day
I have noticed that it seems to work best with fresh pieces of cordage. I think I need to swap out my cordage for the next video. 😉 😉 😉
Thanks for the video Johnny, and the shout out was great That was the best 2 minutes and 54 seconds I've had in the FCC! You Sir, are a legend of the knots! 🙏🏼

Very nice pattern! Where can we get a clamp like that?
That clamp is my old RN Pace Stick............... however, a clipboard will also do the job. Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.
OH! Thank you so much! I try to watch each of your videos, but I somehow missed it. I'll be very useful. Thanks again!
