Metal Reinforced Body Fill? Metal joints in body panels and no lead. 1950 Willys Jeepster Hot Rod

  • I have some lap welds and spot welded seams that I want to use body filler on. In the old days, car manufactures and body men used lead. I found a very strong filler that is perfect for that job with out the worry of getting lead poisoning.

    Love the Jeepster build! I’m building for myself a 48 that was too far gone to restore. I’ve “borrowed” tons of ideas! And the mustang ii information has really helped!
    And just FYI, I’m a “professional” paint and body guy. I just quickly knock the top off of the all metal with my 3” Roloc and/or feather out with 80 grit on a da and body fill over.

      I worked at a hot rod shop for a couple years and got the bug to hot rod a car some day. I restored many cars to show quality originals over the years but after building 2 customs now I'm hooked. Great tip with using the Roloc for the all metal. I forget I have that in my tool chest.
