That s54 engine man..there’s just something so mechanical and granular about it’s nature that’s hard to describe, people can say the v10 or v8 is the pinnacle but for me that barking mechanical induction noise can’t and will never be matched. BMW at their absolute best.
If I had to choose between the Z4M & the e46 M3 it would always be the e46 for me as I prefer the looks and the interior. But do agree, the Z4M given that it’s an exclusive 2 seater with one BMW’s best engines and handling tweaks you would think they would be twice the price! Such a shame this video was let down with interior audio recording (thankfully times have changed and I have some decent microphones)
Great cars especially with a few modifications 👍 I covered a more standard one in an older video on the channel - carbon airbox on the S54 engine is beautiful thing
It is a gorgeous z4m! Thank you for the cool video. A bit of a shame you didn't have a proper mic though, as your voice was very quiet. It's a surprise that the Z4M is almost the same weight as an E46 M3 too. I would have thought it would be at least 150+ kg lighter.
Your welcome & glad you enjoyed 😎 The videos shortly after this are now filmed with a proper microphone - something I hadn’t noticed massively when editing but always double check on head phones to ensure the audio quality is suitable 👍 (life of learning RUclips 😅)
Yes same one side ways sid reviewed recently, I don’t have his talent in the drifting department lol so maybe mine wasn’t as exciting to watch but I had fun 😁
What most don't realize, is BMW horsepower ain't equal to our north American standard ,,,it's higher ... my old 1989 325i with a 190 generous hp , was shaming Mustangs with 60 hp more than me lol 😆,, gotta get an m coupe .. that engine is already race proven .. crazy video my good sir
Running alpha n with Geoff steel intake on my e46. Hated it to start off with and was always intending to do maf. Weirdly you just learn to drive around any flat spot and don’t notice any flaw 6 months in.... cold start is a bit lumpy in my opinion 🤷♂️
Mine doesn't have any flat spots(my tuner apparently did a custom alpha n) but on really cold mornings it does do lumpy when pulling away for about 20 meters. Then its all good
Alpha N is more than usable but no match for the MAP sensor built cars, I drove one on the open trumpet set-up (rubbish) and then this one which wasn’t an issue for even low speed driving, as per G4RR377 comments I think a lot of it comes down to who fitted/ mapped it
about that diff ratio 4.1, I considered it as well on my M3, but the guys that I spoke with told me that it's more for track use. they said, you'll then make your 6th gear completely useless. can you comment on that with your driving experience?
Who ever advised you of that has never used one on the road lol.. I actually have a 4.1 Z4M diff now installed on my e46 M3 and drove 450 miles from London to Scotland on the motorway with zero issues, fuel consumption doesn’t appear to have changed at all either. In 6th gear it sits roughly 500rpm higher than the standard diff ratio - it’s one of the best modifications you can do to improve acceleration/ torque, every gear feels alive (if you watch my Euro trip video vs the North coast 500 you can hear the difference on the hair pin climbs.
@@stoneautomotive Thanks for your reply. I now have a standard 3.64 ratio with a new V10 E60 M5 rebuild Diff. (thats a huge handling upgrade) But if I'm correct it's always possible to change out the pinion for the 4.1 ratio. I'm diving right back in this subject. Cheers.
Hi Duncan, He was running the VAC floor mounts, nice bits of kit! Link : www.raceparts.biz/vac-floor-mount-adapter-for-bmw-e36-e46-drivers-side-rhd-uk.html
In terms of pace/ handling/ sound very similar (dare I say it I missed the SMG 😬) Very similar in many ways but the e46 is still king of that class for me but obviously it will be a personal opinion! As the video should hopefully show it really was a lovely car
This was something I had read about when i installed the purple tag rack (not the same ratio as the blue tag (CSL rack) but shorter ratio than the green tag rack (stock) From what I had researched the pre-LCI can throw an abs/traction fault from the yaw sensor but the LCI is not a problem - my e46 runs the purple tag with no fault lights/codes
That noise. You’d never get bored of that.
100% - the sound is spine tingling good 😎

Agreed, S54 + carbon airbox on full chat is a wonderful thing 😎
I also did a Shrick cams and Supersprint headers on mine. 322WHP. Love the thing!!
Good work with the WHP - bet that shifts!
The seats are Recaro pole positions
Looking at this video again it hits me these are STILL undervalued… What a car it is

Love it… everything about it… my search continues!
Old video now, shame the audio was so bad as it was such a cool car this one!
Got the 👍🏻 from me at the thumbnail already! Very very tasteful modifications 👌🏻
that Zupra is sick :D
Best car ever!!!!
I've been looking at the Z4m for a couple of weeks now. I think it might be a possible next car for me, gorgeous little motor.

Nice video man. 🤩
Someone should be following you , that car is too gorgeous not to show it more .
Thanks 👍
Such a shame this one was hit with my poor audio issue 😫
@@stoneautomotive nah its all good..... all positive criticism 😉

It's 200 lb pounds lighter then the e46 m3 idk what ur talking about

Glad you enjoyed 😎 yes there are many cases of manufactures quoting figures that don’t really reflect in the real world 😅

Hi mate! !! Just love the fake recaro,s money well spent! !!!!!
Campbell Inglis fake Recaro’s? What gives you that impression? Safe to say if you look at the specification on that car it’s not had corners cut 🤷♂️
Are they still cheap in the UK, because in the north EU, they are so expensive (starting from 29K with high milage 100k+ miles )?
Cheaper than you mention but a Coupe with decent mileage is still starting at 20k plus

Liam Neeson a relation?
I will look for you, I will find you and I will... Like your video clip :-)

What model Recaro are those?
Seems that - Recaro Pole Position
About the CSL steering wrack, is it a simple retrofit? Read somewhere that you also need to change steering position sensors for TC calibration...

hi,what's the rims name and what is the size?
Hi, the wheels are Apex ARC8 - unfortunately I’m unable to confirm off sets/ rim depths as they were fitted to the car when the owner purchased it
@@stoneautomotive thx. it looks so nice
Which exhaust is that?
Hi, I can’t recall the system unfortunately
I thought this car was gorgeous until i saw that gauge cluster🤮
Yea I’m not a fan of the clusters and for me it’s a big part of the car as your looking at it most of the time 😅
