I think if you bring that shoeprint to the cops if they can use it as some type of fingerprinting obviously with a smaller database but I think you should still bring it up to them.
it also verifies criminals shoes size and stature- skinny enough to slide through bars with that size foot builds a profile to go off of... that and what cameras caught around town might start piecing things together.
Seattle cops don't have the time or money to do that. Seattle hates their cops and have gone out of their to make it harder for them to solve any crimes, or retain enough manpower to be an effective police force.
I was robbed 2 years ago, lost my ps4, switch, sound system, and my childhood ps3 with me Minecraft worlds on it. I feel you bro. It’s not really about the value of the tech I was pissed about it was the memories that was taken away that made me pissed.
Not the childhood PS3 man :[ Especially with the childhood MC worlds too :[ Please tell me you had a PSN Acc or smth and it's somewhere in the cloud....
I feel you man. I had my apartment broken into 6 years ago and out of everything they stole, my dads raggedy old 2011 Macbook with my old Diablo 3 characters on it is what made me cry the most. I could easily replace the Macbook, but I can never recover those memories. On the bright side, I had several significantly more valuable computers in the apartment at the time that they left, presumably they only grabbed the one since it had an Apple logo on the lid. It gives me some slight comfort knowing they went through the effort only to walk away with a $50 (at best) laptop and like $30 worth of old phones :)
I wasn't robbed but my brothers had been robbed years ago before I was even born, the entire pc was I think stolen by our neighbour? Idk exactly cuz I wasn't even a part of the universe at that time but we never got it back.
Feel this... My best friend experienced the same thing. right across the street from me and some bum mfs broke in. We were like 14 or some shit ya know? Makes me wanna crash out honestly.
Im not trying to arouse undue suspicions but it is extremely hard to break into an indoor storage unit facility. Usually they have cctv on the inside (sometimes people cook that crystal inside of the units) and to get in without a keycard would be loud and would probably set off an alarm. So either it is an inside job by an employee, or someone renting another unit. Most rfid key card systems use unique identifiers for each individual card so it would be easy to overlap cctv with key card identifier timestamps (the system almost always logs the card used and time it was used,in addition to what terminal it was used at) and then since you have such a short time period for the robbery to have happened, you can manually search for people who did that. Ask the storage unit complex and if they dont comply, threaten a lawsuit and or calling the police to get it. Resolution to this shouldnt be too difficult but you might not get all of your stuff back
I don't know man. My storage unit has no cameras on the hallways or unit entrances, no key cards, and only a passcoded main door that opens for anyone during business hours and is frequently propped open in the off hours. It would be incredibly easy to rob my storage unit, or of the other units there.
4:31 NOOOO, NOT THE BIONICLES?! Those have insane resale value, but chances are that this thief is an idiot, so its rotting with their kids' lego box...
Yeah, I feel like having locks that insecure on units he rents to people for storage means the owner should have some level of liability for the damages here
@@RonaldMcDonald-nf9jj Contracts only so far and I imagine any judge would rule the owner of the storage units has to take reasonable steps to ensure security It's one think if they picked a lock or cut it off, it's another of the places is so unsecure they climbed in a window and unscrewed a bolt with their fingers
my answer for "Why not take it" for the dev kit is as easy as it is to track down the other shit if you kept serial number logs, that has to be extra identifiable based on the quantity of them and the low number for sale.
This sucks so much dude. The NVIDIA PC was your first video I saw, and I've been watching since. I hope this helps bounce back and I look forward to your next vid
As someone who had some arcade game data stolen due to namcos unannounced data breach, I can confirm this is literally how it is. Even if it doesn't have any real significance it's still coming down to the emotions of the event itself.
I hate feeling violated. I’ve been sexually groped/molested multiple times and for me at least, it didn’t compare to being stolen from. Such a shitty feeling.
Criminals are incredibly stupid. I legitimately wouldn't be surprised if the person/people who broke in are either currently tenants at the same storage facility, or are somehow connected to someone at the facility. I also wouldn't be surprised if your stuff is in another unit there, or at least was for a brief period after they took it. The fact the stuff they took is also very recognizable and weird should hopefully aid in getting your stuff back. Fingers crossed this has a good ending for ya man!!
They probably sold all of the stuff by now why would they keep it it's probably in some random person hands by now that paid for it and had no idea it was stolen
@@BfhHbbj for the most common items he probably didnt care too much about (not the wiiiiis) sure, but there's no way they sold off that Nvidia PC in a timely manner. It looks funky and anyone who'd be willing to buy it would recognize it as it's not something you just find and sell.
I left my car unlocked one time and they stole my owners manual and some garbage. They left all the tools I kept in the car, left my spare, opened my hood to see what's in there and didn't take anything. Just my owners manual. The priorities of thieves nowadays are bizzare.
I can't lie man, when I saw those bars above the door with the GIANT gaps between I couldn't help but think that would have been a deal breaker for me renting that unit. That is a massive and obvious security flaw. Someone can just hop up, see all the nice stuff they want and even if they can't squeeze through, they can just cut the lock and take whatever they want.
Yep, methheads usually work in groups around here and have females that squeeze into windows and stuff. I would have instantly said no way on renting that unit.
Yeah this is my first time ever renting something like this, and I thought it was a bit weird too but figured it was probably fine... But my standards for where I'm keeping my stuff going forward are significantly higher after this

We are in Vancouver, Washington. We don’t deal with PC stuff at all, but we will keep our eyes out for the video game stuff. One of your viewers sent us an email to let us know about this video. So sorry this happened to you, and I hope you get your stuff back.
Hope you get some of your stuff back. Nobody deserves to get robbed. Stuff might look like a price tag to them but to the owners its part of there lifes with the memories and experiences each item has. Things might look gloomy but believe me theres PLENTY of things to run Steam OS on.
yeah that’s why they took the ps5 and left the super rare, but otherwise obscure xbox prototype. they know they can flip a ps5 quick and without a whole lot of questions. they have no idea what they are doing beyond that
Agreed, robbers like this are just messed up. They're just looking to make a quick buck with the least amount of work. Therefor, they don't do any research on how to get the best bang for their buck... That's the only pleasure we can get out of this (for now): They didn't really get their "money's worth"

Respect for not ebegging to turn your troubles into your fans problem. And being overwhelmingly positive about all this. I hope they get caught and you recoup some of your gear or monetary value back. Such a violating feeling. I remember when my car got broken into 3 times in a year. Such a helpless and worrying feeling
Its especially sad that a lot of what was taken has very little value beyond the sentimental aspect. The NVidia PC for example, its hardware isn't worth much to anyone but the time and effort you put into it is worth more than the hardware ever would be.
@80HD-hf1jl It's probably not even worth $500, tbh. It's from that undesirable era of "old, but new enough to have PCI-e slots" that's just mostly undesirable at the moment.
I mean it's an insanely rare piece of whatever that is also a tech piece and there is a lot of tech nerds, which means it could have quite a value, despite the capabilities of the hardware

It's more likely they were sold to pawn shops. But after you file a police report with images of your stolen items, it should be easy to track down. It's from my understanding that pawn shops are required by law to interface with a police database to be notified of stolen items. It might also be prudent to see if there is CCTV footage. But it might require more police intervention with the storage facility you are at.
Everytime I've been robbed or had some shit stolen the police have never been very helpful so I doubt they're going to be getting his stuff back, he'd probably have more luck relying on viewers looking for it online or finding it at a local pawn shop, most likely he's just not getting that stuff back though.
Sadly, whether the police and pawn shops will be of any help is heavily dependent on the area. Hoping for a quick and easy resolution for the guy, but both the police and pawn shops could be very unhelpful.
Hello Bringus, You might remember me from your old videos where I commented. I truly feel bad about your loss. However, Steam OS will always be installed. Whether its Chimera or Bazzite.
So sorry for you, i know how it feels to been robbed. It really sucks and i hope they get em. Communitys often work together so maybe ''we'' can find some of your things via online listings etc.
Pretty much everything that was stolen were appreciating assets worth a high value, so you definitely have a case for multi-grand theft that the police should hopefully take more seriously than just petty theft. I seriously recommend making an Excel spreadsheet of everything you remember being stolen and their approximate value. The total value of things stolen should get them to act pretty quick (one would hope, anyway). Make sure law enforcement tells you they've notified local pawn shops to be on the lookout for items that were stolen, or ask if/how you can do this yourself. Keep that shoeprint safe, it could be what gets them.
In general, make a damn spreadsheet documenting EVERYTHING you own! I got spreadsheets that document everything valuable I own, so that if my shit gets broken into, I can easily do inventory and provide the authorities with a receipt of everything stolen. Also, here's a pro tip, when putting stuff into storage, make sure to label everything on the inside and outside that it is yours'! I got wiis, xboxes, and old PCs whose disc drives have blank discs inside their trays that say on the top "Hi there, this is stolen hardware. Email me at [email] if you bought it!" and on the bottom "Hi thief, fuck you!"
well, the dev kit you're not supposed to have anyway, legally speaking, but yeah, good idea to tally up (of course err on the upper side of price) and report, worst case, they won't do anything, worst case if you don't report: also nothing happens, lol and if police AND subscribers are searching, then stuff will likely be found
What a glaring security issue, "let's design these private storage units in such a way where anyone could take a peek in and see whats inside!" One might think one could sue
I wouldn't even consider paying for a storage unit that has a gaping hole above the door which is only blocked by sparse, thin metal bars. That's just a nonsensical design; it honestly looks like a scam.
Yeah never ever store anything important in a storage unit. My dad's a police sergeant and as far as I'm aware there isn't a single storage unit, at least in my city, that has never been broken into.
I don't know how it's hindsight to keep your valuable in a place you are often and not a detached unit far away from your house. That's unguarded unfrequented.
Indeed, I try to keep everything of value stored on-site at my house, and make sure anything not so valuable does not have big recognizable logos that would entice thieves. You can tell by what was stolen that this thief specifically shopped by logo rather than take stuff with some more knowledge would get you money.
My university's eSports arena got broken into in September of last year, and they stole 5 PCs including the streaming PC I spent so much time working on. And even though that none of it was mine, just the fact that I was there so often made it feel so violating. It gave me a lot of anxiety around being robbed myself. I can't even imagine how you feel right now. I hope that everything valuable is found and returned to you some how. Wishing you luck, man.
Jon, I send you my love and respect from Turkey. It truly breaks my heart to see what you are going through. At the end of the day, it is good to see you healthy and safe, I hope your belongings are somehow found and returned to you. Much love, my brother
The same thing literally just happened to me last week. My unit had my entire game collection worth up to $70000. You have my sympathy, I know how you feel.
on you for putting a valuable collection in a public storage unit and not somewhere you know is safe and not run by someone who makes a living holding onto people's stuff. Storage Units are for furniture lol
@@Matt-xc6spthat is if the unit was broken into by someone cutting the locks or crashing a vehicle into it. But the flaw with it is that it seemed like a robbery which didn’t need any tools and is showing that the storage unit company had the place secure and locked if someone can easily undo a bolt with their fingers or move a panel to get through the shutter etc I think the storage company is responsible 😊

Yeah this isn't gonna be a JCS Inspired story. The shoeprint would be useful in a murder case & they have a suspect & want to place the suspect at the crime scene - but this isn't a murder case; they're not gonna waste crime scene resources.
They didn't take more because they probably didn't have enough time if they had to squeeze through that gap at the top. They took what they could. The storage unit company is involved, 100%.
@@justsomebadjuju1120 Nah, they just got in through the gap, but then opened the door from the inside and could walk out with anything. Dunno why they would take bionicles and leave a PS4 tho. Probably some crackheads that couldn't even see straight.
@@ZaloKimPlay he went over it in the video. The lock is easy to undo from inside, which shouldn't happen, so they rolled up the door and took the stuff out from there. Absolutely sucks. Jon is such a nice guy who just loves tech, so it's a typical example of bad things happening to good people. Don't want guys like him getting robbed, so it's a damn shame. Hope you find some of the things. It can happen. Lee from Sonic Youth had some guitars stolen several years back and some of them were tracked down. Power of the Internet hopefully.
Man, I feel you there. My car was stolen recently, and I just started a new job. And to make it worse, my car was then used in a string of robberies and a shooting in my town. So even though it's been found, who knows when I will get it back. This sucks for you though. I hope they are able to catch the guy who did it and that you might be able to recover even some of the stolen goods.
I think in regards to the Xbox devkit not being stolen, the important aspect to the thieves is ease of flipping the item into cash. You'll find someone to buy a PS5 for below MSRP in minutes, but finding someone interested in a devkit who isn't going to ask any questions is a massive headache to begin with, and thats before including how long it would take.

I feel like the storage unit area also has some semi-liability. It is dumb that such a gap is left in those storage units, and so to some extent, the storage provider that you use for this should have some liability in this. It's such an oversight that they could've done to fix, etc.
That sucks. It sounds like they went for 'things that look valuable and/or easy to fence if you don't know what you're doing'. If possible, get the serial number of the PS5 from the retailer you purchased it from - that might be trackable? On the bright side, I had several significantly more valuable computers in the apartment at the time that they left, presumably they only grabbed the one since it had an Apple logo on the lid. It gives me some slight comfort knowing they went through the effort only to walk away with a $50 (at best) laptop and like $30 worth of old phones :)

The Minecraft worlds is unacceptable :( take the hardware but leave the hard drives, have some class when stealing things!
Resolution to this shouldnt be too difficult but you might not get all of your stuff back
Engaging to boost I guess.

As you said: it's just stuff. The worst part is the feeling of violation.
exactly.
As someone who had some arcade game data stolen due to namcos unannounced data breach, I can confirm this is literally how it is. Even if it doesn't have any real significance it's still coming down to the emotions of the event itself.

Imagine the police doing something
Everytime I've been robbed or had some shit stolen the police have never been very helpful so I doubt they're going to be getting his stuff back, he'd probably have more luck relying on viewers looking for it online or finding it at a local pawn shop, most likely he's just not getting that stuff back though.

Damn bro.I just hope you are fine and that there isn't something of what you mencioned (like identity theft).
Hope you recover everything
I hope he sees this comment!

Thanks captain hindsight, you're just in time.
Lesson learned the hard way :/. Really sad.
And you'd be surprised how many of these "robberies" are actually inside jobs.

For extra security for your house, install new 8 screw security strikeplates on your doors with 3 inch screws, and put up ADT stickers. With that strikeplate with screws deep in the door frame, it makes in almost impossible for someone to hypothetically kick your door.
They can kick, it won't budge and will have to use a window lol
@@kynsilok And that's when you run a bunch of super thin wires across the area of the window. Each wire alternating between 100KV AC and ground. Whoever climbs through first is getting sent to hell with same-day shipping.
My house was robbed about 8 years ago and it just absolutely destroys your sense of security. Our thieves were so petty they not only stole our PS4 and our mounted TV, but they also took food out of our fridge and cabinets.. I'm so sorry you had to go through it. It's one of the worst violating feelings to have. I wish nothing but the absolute worst for the piece of crap that did this.
I can't imagine the feeling of coming to your storage unit and finding it broken into and robbed. Your heart must have dropped to the ground...the fact that someone went through all your personal stuff with both monetary and sentimental value...I really hope tha they'll somehow find whoever did this to you. Best wishes! Hope you'll recover quickly from this massive blowback
I feel like the storage unit area also has some semi-liability. It is dumb that such a gap is left in those storage units, and so to some extent, the storage provider that you use for this should have some liability in this. It's such an oversight that they could've done to fix, etc.

"Ooohh PS5!"
"..Ew an Xbox"
Good thing they were a Sony fanboy or he would be sad at level 134823
Why does this translate
Hey man, I was also robbed today after work in Germany. I really did not expect myself to spend my night going to the police
That sucks. It sounds like they went for 'things that look valuable and/or easy to fence if you don't know what you're doing'. If possible, get the serial number of the PS5 from the retailer you purchased it from - that might be trackable? Silly other thing: check your logged in Steam devices - make sure they don't screw you over there. Beyond that, you've got me thinking about my storage unit and how I need to secure it.
That PS5 is definitely not running launch firmware anymore, it really doesn't matter.
@@nizzymo It litt is a special launch edition one which he never powered on, so it DOES matter.
@@lnfinyx The theives have either sold it to someone else, and they used it. Or they stole it to use it, which means for the average person, they updated it. Making the value of the console completely worthless. I had various launch consoles, they are NOT expensive if updated, although i did have one with PT on it.
@@nizzymo Yea but it recently happened so there is a chance it hasnt been sold yet and is just sitting in storage, so it does matter
@@lnfinyx If it was an addict, it absolutely would have been sold immedietely. No chance it's still on release firmware if someone got a brand new PS5. Everyone who would steal one would either sell it, or use it.
Investigate the owner of the storage building. ALWAYS.
Probably gonna point to the "we're not held liable for any theft or damage" CYA they have on the lease contract.
If they have security cameras in the hallways absolutely get them to release the footage.
Yep they do it in apartments all the time - is the super
A thief taking the PlayStation and completely ignoring the XBOX literally right next to it is maybe the best summary of Microsoft’s foray into the console business you could ever hope for.
Also think it‘s pretty funny how they took some kind of prototype Steam Deck controllers but left two PS4‘s right next to it.
@@Tamay. They were prototype Valve Index controllers.
@@myrddinphoenix7755 Yep, didn‘t know the name, mb
@@Tamay. No point of stealing a useless last gen console even if they did took the ps4s people would low ball for it
@@BfhHbbj But they took a freaking firewall 😭😭
Oh man, I share your feelings so much. I had a lot of old DVDs, and my clothes that had been stolen, and many were terribly rare.
