I now think this exercise should even preceed the paradiddle. After flundering around on drums for 30 years, I've got to go back to the beginning with single stroke roll, then double stroke roll and then paradiddle. Also the RLL and the LRR triplet. Now the same with double bass? Too many rudiments at once can overwhelm a beginner.
Simple easy to understand for me. Going to work on them right now!

What bpm at 16th notes would you just use wrist before moving to drop catch technique ?
Around 160 bpm for me
