in california (bay area) all garbages facilities has a winter pad, to prevent this to happen, having a truck stuck in the middle of the line is losing money for every one.
Dump trailers generally ride higher. I have a pretty tall truck on 35s and have an adjustable hitch that I had to raise this week for the dump trailer I borrowed.
If you can afford the difference, always go with the deckover model. You want that box elevated so you can keep a tight pile if you want. Also so you dont hang up in little spots like this.
I see a clear lack of oilfield experience going on here! Shovel the debris in from of the wheels and drive the trailer up and over the stuff under the trailer. Something on top of the debris to prevent punctures.
Can someone help me please? My dump trailer unhooked from the ball, but it was attached correctly. I started to drive forward to drop the remains of my load and it broke loose. My trailer was fully up. Before I pulled forward, should I have lowered it a lot more to stop it from bouncing when the load/weight came out. Most of the load was out already but it was heavy rock. Do the locking mechanism between the ball and trailer mount ever go bad? I have a lot to learn, but can be scared anymore of this trailer. I know it sounds crazy. Today, I attacked this fear and the trailer did some crazy stuff, and I broke the lifter too. Still happy to have tried.
Hauling and Balling with a RAM 1500 5.7 Hemi Sport Short bed with air lift airbags, tekonsha trailer break. Hooking and booking 2 days a week averaging $500-$1000 ea day . Lucky I guess don't overload it 7x12x4 trailer!
The dump i go to has a BIG sign. 2WD not recommended. We will NOT pull you out. I've seen guys helping other guys get out. I keep the traffic control guys happy by putting any recyclables like copper wire in the back so they can have easy access to it. Kind of like a tip for these guys.
At the dump I go to they will not push any trailers. If your battery dies oh well. Deal with it. I’ve had some guys hook a chain up to the dozer and pull me out. But even then they act like they aren’t supposed to. They obviously have been sued.
Boy can I relate to that chaos going to the dump. I remember oh I don't know three or four trips back that I went to the dump, there was somebody else there, and I kind of had to move over to the shoulder to make room for him to come out. Yeah, that's just how busy our dump is, lol.
Tire pressure looked low on passenger side rear tire of the dump trailer. Correct tire pressures would have raised the trailer off the ground higher (less likely to catch debris when pushed out). The trailer isn't riding level on both axles. For optimal control while pulling everything should be the same plane (truck and trailer). Once the trailer is up for the dump, yes, the weight is off the rear of the truck significantly. If this happens, let whatever you are dumping come out as much as possible, lower the dump bed back down and then try to get unstuck with 4X4. By lowering the dump you are putting the weight back onto the rear truck tires. Once you have moved up, dump again. Repeat as necessary. I have a F450 crew cab that I pull my dump trailer with. I figured out how to get out by lowering the dump back down and pulling forward a ittle, then dump again. I have had to lower my dump twice to get the full load to come out before. My truck is rear wheel drive only. If you have everything set up properly and have good tires, it shouldn't be much of a problem unless you are on ice or sink to the axles, which I have also done. Luckily the way I had my trailer built, I was able to lift the trailer up off the ground as well as the truck's read drive tires, shovel stone that I was hauling under all of the tires. Lower everything back down and pull out of the situation I was in. 4X4 would have helped a lot.
My truck is a 99 f150 5 speed its strong pulling my lawn equipment zero-turn weed eaters the bed of the truck full of stuff coming up to a heel on the interstate I don't never have to drop a gear I can keep it in 5th gear and keep on going
Thinking about getting a 6x12 dump trailer and pulling it with a tundra.. do you think it is adequate enough to tow the trailer with? I wasn't really wanting to go to a 3/4 ton truck because it would be my personal vehicle as well..
Consider what you plan on hauling and the frequency. Also, will you need to go up/down hills often? A half-ton (any of them, really) would be more than adequate for most junk hauling jobs, but would struggle if you need it to pull dirt/roofing/rock/etc often. Try to keep what you tow at about 70--80% of stated capacity and only max out your capacity on rare occasions and with great care.
My Aunt is really wanting to do a trailer business, except she was wanting to clean out sheds and barns by hand and I don't have the back for that anymore, I hauled for family dollar and dollar general back in the early 2000's and unloading freight off the floor back then was how I ruined my back! I give her the idea about getting a dump trailer so I could haul aggregate between her finding haul off job's, but she's got to find someone to load the trailer! So it's difficult to figure out all the logistics unfortunately. Checked with my pallet buyer only one that we have and 3.00 per pallet is topped out pay pretty much. He said that occasionally he'll go $4.50 a pallet if they're oak pallets in a perfect condition only been used once. So he warned of the forklift driver's wallet's being padded by the guy who wants all the pallets being likely to tell you falsely that it's under contract, crazy right !?!
Be Responsible for your own Recovery. Get a Kinetic rope from Yankum Ropes. This vehicle could have been recovered by a two-wheel-drive pickup truck and a kinetic rope. Being hooked to a bulldozer by a cable can be more jarring to your rig.
I drop my trailer as soon as its empty, my local landfill will NOT help us if we are stuck... It is a liability incase they damage your vehicle and or equipment..

I pickup my dump trailer next weekend. Was supposed to get it today, but blizzard! Thanks for all the good ideas.
You’re supposed to keep your trailer level when you tow so you got to get a different hitch for your truck and you were never had that problem
That dump is a dump. Guess I'm fortunate, most everything around here is paved pit.
Robs good people.
Talked to him through private message on fb. Great guy.
Looks like y’all need to invest in a drop hitch for your trailer to sit level, and some decent all terrain tires

The DOT man try to keep you down! Great video. 😂
Good video. Maybe it was just the angle but it looks like he needs a 4” or 6” drop hitch.

We deal with ice up here. I’ve seen dump trucks flip because the load was frozen inside the box and the driver wasn’t paying attention.
Looks like the answer is don't go to the dump in the rain, lol. Another great video!
Thanks 👍
Or anywhere with bald tires

Ask Rob how many tires he's patched with all them nails at the dump..
Install lockers in your truck Axles.

My Tundra 5.7L handles my 8 yd pretty good. The trailer is about 4,000 lbs.
I would not go to a dump like that , pay more dump elsewhere , tires too expensive...

I was about to say.. The last trailer you had got stuck in the gravel! Good Content keep up the hard work!
How much do you charge for a 6x14 load
Looks the same as the lake county dump. The loader operator s try to back you up so far your tire pops.

you can tow a trailer with a car lmao
Don’t bother. Tundra is not meant for this. You need minimum 3/4 ton truck.

@@j.joseph5353 is a tundra even a half ton? A 2022 tundra can tow 8300-12000lbs. A 6x12 loaded, will put the tundra to its limits.
