I love how they still sound heavy even without distortion, the cellos sound great

One of the best albums my parents ever got me korn unolugged. See them in such a different way at such a young age was transformative.

Damn I remember when I downloaded this version on LimeWire thinking it was the studio release. I didn't hear the actual release until Marine Corps Boot Camp during liberty week back in 2007. Though I like the studio version, this is always the one I come back to when nostalgia is hitting me hard.

Them Bones Korn is just not a band that just should never play their songs unplugged. So much of their music is about that heavy, 7 string distortion and aggression. Playing it unplugged is to undo the point. It’s like doing acoustic Slayer, or unplugged Ministry. What’s the point?

I see where you're coming from. But I think that it was crucial to have Korn explore that softer unplugged side just to even the playing field for the wide range of specific listeners. Having Korn exploring this side, makes it explorable to every branch of a metal audience that are in it or not.
