    What really ticked me off about Chris getting upset about her talking with his parents is: they were VERY open with her about expectations regarding sex with Chris. So naturally she felt comfortable to talk with the very people who opened that door in the first place. He's trying to reverse his guilt onto her. I'm trying to refrain from calling him names because he triggers me so much.

    • @jazzy6911
      @jazzy6911 3 года назад +142

      Yes, the pastor on this show even said in an interview that they have a problem with matching black men and black women together because the black men say they want a white woman/eurocentric presenting woman and the black women say they want a black man. However the white women don't say they want a black man on the show, which of course creates an issue. There is a blatant problem with colorism and self hatred in the black community and these eurocetric beauty standards are mainly pushed on black women by black men. I call it self hatred because ultimately the feautures that these dudes like Chris find unattractive are the exact same features they themselves have like dark skin, thick lips, kinky hair, etc. If these guys don't think such features are attractive on a black woman then by their own logic they're not attractive on them either.

    • @Miranda-gi9fx

      @@jazzy6911 Yes, but don't forget that gender plays a role in colorism. Some characteristics are acceptable for a man but not for a woman. Have you noticed that black men generally prefer to have a dark-skinned son and a light-skinned daughter, reflecting their preference?

    Crazy how even the best of us get that imposter syndrome. Dr Honda is exceptionally intelligent and well spoken and still felt like a fraud when he was doing his masters.
    Meanwhile I get that same feeling of imposter syndrome when someone says "wow you're really smart" just because I know some random fact and I feel like I'm actually a total dumbass who just happens to know useless stuff.
    It's such a crippling issue that nobody talks about

    • @intuitivelogic5159
      @intuitivelogic5159 3 года назад +1

      It sounds like you may have an issue with self esteem , which is nothing to be ashamed about , we are all trying to sustain an idea of ourselves we can be proud of and that can be difficult .
      Typically , if I'm in a similar situation than the one you displayed , it usually makes me uncomfortable because the way they are using the word , given the context of when it is used , doesn't seem to fit my understanding of "smart" or "intelligent" and I assume if I asked them how they are using the word , it wouldn't mean anything worth feeling good about , similar to how you put it .
      Also I don't like when a narrative starts to be created that I am " smart" because they start to have these weird expectations , and I feel pressured to perform at times .
      But the difference between you and me is that I think I'm smart , atleast compared to the people around me .

  • @Theohybrid

    Seeing this makes me want to desire culture training for therapists. Chris flew under the radar for so many people but there are people who know black culture knew the type of dude Chris is/was.
    It's a little sad because, I think minorities have archetypes are are more prevalent in their culture than the mainstream, imo.
    From things like double consciousness the Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, to the distinct generational trauma that's found in Black communities.
    Iv3 only seen a little of their relationship and it was a trainwreck.
    Feel like he wanted a white female l, our culture has a problem with fetishism and inferiority and self-hatred that's prevalent throughout our culture that we fight to correct.
    I get it, "preferences" but we gotta humanize before we preference. Attraction matters but, preference shouldn't be...neccesarily race-based.
    That's illogical. Being traumatized by a race makes sense for you to be subconsciously avoidant but no preferences arrives out of nowhere. You dont just "prefer" whites over your own people without compartmentalizing somehow and showing some kind of dissonance.
    It definitely doesn't help when the environment is just chaotic and lacks a safe space to process trauma. Thus, people have triggers that may be connected visually.
    I love myself as a black person and believe our communities have been disproportionately affected and must be fought against but, I can also acknowledge that we need to admit and correct issues we have.

    • @raspberrykissable
      @raspberrykissable 3 года назад +22

      Thanks for sharing. I was with a man just like Chris except white. I am white I am also a genocide survivor with generational trauma. I completely agree with everything you said. I saw Chris for what he was from day one. I will say I don’t think he wanted a white Woman I think he wanted a lighter woman because his ex was also black. The problem with these people is that no one is good enough for them white or black he would a bone to pick. I am rooting for all people who have generational trauma healing it is extremely hard but worth it!

    • @Theohybrid
      @Theohybrid 3 года назад +7

      @@raspberrykissable Amen to that.
      I want to mention an aspect to the thought that you mentioned.
      I am theorizing that the reason why he wants a female maybe white is because in the Black community, as we deal with our facets of self hatred or inferiority living as minorities and contlstantly see status from white to lighter skin, that status might be what they/we are lowkey searching for.
      Its insecurity that they are trying to correct using societal standards such as colorism.
      There's nothing wrong with Paige and she literally hasn't shown any abusive behavior towards Chris. He is just not mature to be with someone and has not dealt with his trauma nor has developed a health sense of self or esteem to be with someone without harming them via his insecurities.
      Sorry, had to reply to that aspect. Got another comment for you.

      @Theohybrid 3 года назад +3

      @@raspberrykissable I am curious about your comment about being a 'genocide survivor'? I am not so familiar with the term.

      @jazzy6911 3 года назад +22

    • @raspberrykissable
      @raspberrykissable 3 года назад +5

      @@Theohybrid thank you for elaborating!
      And I agree that he could have been after some sort of status and that’s why he a wanted white woman. He clearly had not dealt with his trauma. I also had self hatred so I can relate to that aspect and my heart breaks for the black community as they cannot see their beauty and worth just as I hadn’t seen it. It took a while to love and accept myself. I hope through healing I see the same in your community.
      Paige is saint and an amazing woman. I felt really bad that she kept entertaining him because she is worth so much more.

    Im gonna say it. There's no way that she could communicate with him that would have made him reasonable with her. Ive experienced it. When a certain type of man doesnt find you attractive the only style of communication they will give you is constant gas lighting and attacks. They will be nice when you give them something, but they dont value you or see you as human so you wont get basic decency. Its a harsh reality. It happens in many settings even when there is no romantic involvement either. The same way some women wont even bat an eyelash at men with low or no money. Some men just wont see you as a person if you're not what they find attractive.

I saw a video about that pairing from a black female RUclipsr and that video showed a clip of one of the black matchmakers stating that he was against that pairing but got overruled by the white matchmakers who thought they were a good match. (Why am I not surprised?) If they are going to be making a show about matchmaking, they need to make sure they have a diverse group of matchmakers as well, not just a diverse group of contestants.

    Dr. Honda, you're not gonna understand alot of things with them 🤣🤣 but either way, I'll elaborate a bit without giving much info. He's upset because of two reasons:
    1) He wants to put up a front that everything is "perfect" and they couldn't possibly be having problems already or if they did, it couldn't possibly be his fault. He wants everyone to think he has everything together. The fact that she went and talked to his family, and they came and talked to him, made him feel like he was being chastised and he was a disappointment to them. He can't handle that kind of pressure or the feelings attached to it, so he would put the issue on her instead of seeing the whole picture and acknowledging his fault in it.
    2) Chris does NOT want anyone to know he's having sex with Paige because he does not want it to get back to his ex. His family is still in contact with her and that could lead to issue down the line.

    Chris is a textbook time waster. To me, he only wanted to string Paige along until he could either get his ex back or he could find someone else that he found more attractive. People that like to play games like this know exactly what to say and do to keep the other person invested just enough to keep them on the hook, but they will never fully invest in the relationship or try to actually improve the relationship.

    Apparently, there is alot of behind the scenes stuff that doesn't put Paige in a good light.
    Supposedly, Paige had an out early on in the show, but because if you end it early your check is smaller she continued on because of that and asked Chris for come back and participate in the show.
    So, alot of it was just acting posturing for the camera. That's why you kept seeing Paige and Chris come back.

    It's funny because i watched your reactions to thus years ago, but had never watched the season. I'm now watching the season but forgot about this, so started having some de ja vu. But anyway your commentary on how Chris told her bridesmaids he wasn't attracted to her comes across differently to me. You said he said she's not his type, when in fact he never said that once, but i kept WISHING he would. It would be a lot kinder than what he did repeat over and over, which was "she's beautiful... In her own way." 😐

    The way Chris communicates, speaks, phrases his sentences is really uncomfortable? I got the impression that he loads his sentences with complicated words so that his meaning gets lost. Like if we broke down what he was really trying to say in simplest terms he was either saying something offensive/mean (but is buried under words), or is saying nothing at all.
    It's hard to describe, the way he speaks makes me uncomfortable.

    I wonder if he felt pressured to have sex with her because of gender role expectations. I can imagine feeling very distressed after having a sexual encounter with someone I don’t have chemistry with. If we tell men that they have to want sex because you’re not a man if you don’t is soooo detrimental to boys and men. I have no idea obviously, but if there are grounds to include narcissistic disorder in a differential diagnosis way then I can see that playing a role in the situation they experienced
