    I'll be honest, earlier today I had to make a speech for English on civil rights during 1935, but having anxiety, I just stood there. The teacher went outside with me for a few minutes, talked through what came next, so I went back in, and started humming the tune to Street Lights, and even though the themes don't exactly correlate, that was the inspiration I needed to do it. Lately I have gained so much respect for Kanye as an artist and a person, and I truly hope that he continues to explore his full potential.

    Honestly, this dude is really smart, it's just his attitude towards things is what's killing it for most people. If he can conceal the forceful/abrupt attitude and use it when he needs to, he would get to where he wants to faster. There are some leaders that had ideas, but had an "ignorant-ish" approach which caused them to be less appealing, but in the future after they are out of the picture, the ideas show up again all over the world.

    The one thing I really enjoy about Kanye is that he's human. He has some insight into his profession and strong strong opinions. Even though when he speaks, his thoughts and actions, and vocals might be exaggerated, but he seems very real. Like he seems human. Like a person that you could see meeting. Someone like Drake doesn't have that. You know he's real, but when you see him its like...wow. This is a real person. It's surreal. And very interesting as well

    I see where Kanye's frustration is coming from. A lot of people don't know the back-story about how Kanye became a rapper.
    Most people just know him as the guy who interrupted Taylor Swift and to them THAT'S where Kanye West begins. However, The fans that knew him for " Through the Wire" and prior ( producing "Hard knock life" etc) this whole narrative of Kanye wanting to branch out and people telling him he can't is EERILY similar to the way he EXPLODED on the hip hop scene. As he said in the interview, " Kanye West is NOT a rapper." He didn't start as a rapper. He started as a producer and he wanted to rap because he had stuff to say. For the LONGEST time, Jay-Z , and Damon Dash wouldn't let him rap. They made a lot of the SAME arguments he's hearing from other people now about his limitations.
    Kanye is frustrated because Kanye knows himself. These other people might know fashion or whatever but they don't know Kanye. Kanye has already proved people wrong before. People need to give him a little more credit.

      Rappers are musically talented, but in a different way. Even more poetically talented than most musicians ever hope to be. Don't let Drake, Chris Brown, and artists like that fool you into thinking that's what rap consists of. Listen to knowledgable rappers like Nas, AZ, etc. Those are real rappers. Music isn't tied down to just Guitars, drums etc. Rock musicians can't appeal to people the way rappers do with their lyrics that consist soley of randomized thoughts and phrases that seem deep but in reality mean nothing. Rap relates to people and their situations, Other genres like Rock, classics, etc are self-centered. There is a reason why rap is twenty times more relevant right now than any other music genre.

    this is a legendary interview, and i hope people actually pay attention and hear what kanye is saying. AND i hope there is another part. i feel like these 2 are talking about what a lot of people don't understand.. BUT i think i'm also realizing that it's not the people who don't get it. a lot of us get it! its the old companies and corporations. afraid of change and losing control. it's really crazy and (kind of almost) illogical when a person with as much pull as kanye can't get proper backing

    All these comments irrelevant as fuck. Here is what he means in a nutshell. If you worked for company and broke walls and records for that company, you feel as if you would be recognized in some way. Someone like kanye has a lot of influence but also hype behind him. If kanye started making clothes BY HIMSELF he feels as if he would be chewed up and spit out in the fashion industry. Just as soulja boy was with YUMS at his prime. Just as Jay Z Rocawear is sold at kohls now. Company's like Gucci, Louie Vuitton, or prada were not founded over night. Look at beats by dre. Successfull rap artist and producer dr.dre sold off the company after only 8 years!

    • @chromewater1879
      @chromewater1879 10 лет назад +4

      It would be wrong for me to say "If kanye wanted to be the next Gianni Vercace he is already 10 years too late" After all, anything is possible. Kanye never released pastelle to the public, in my opinion he was afraid the line would depreciate his value. People would over wear his stuff literally over night until played out short after. We saw this before with the shutter shades. No one wears the shutter shades anymore. I dont think kanye wants that to happen to his company again. Your hot one day and thrown out the next. Its sad but kanye is so blown up i dont think he could avoid this.

    • @chromewater1879
      @chromewater1879 10 лет назад +4

      Cordy Coleman i beleive kanye wants a more timeless company, one that could be worn 20 years from now and is considered wearable still. Take a lot of Tom Ford era Gucci from 20 years ago. Also it took ford 16 years in the game before he put his name on the line literally.

    biggest things to take away from these interviews:
    STOP HATING URSELF OR THINKING NEGATIVE ABOUT ANYTHING THAT YOU ARE OR THINK YOU CAN BE.
    Manifest that positive view of yourself - believe in it - live - be it.
    Thats what life is about, self love.
    (just deleted my whole essay underneath lol)
    go figure out the rest of the puzzle or else its not worth anything to you.
    just like most people dont understand kanye so they think its worthless / just funny, they havent collected any pieces yet so kanyes puzzle pieces are just laying on the table and wont connect to any other pieces hence not creating any picture.
    peace

    He is encouraging people to lift themselves out from the bottom and move towards the top. Even if his points are a bit wrapped up in his own egotistical attitude, it still boasts a strong passion in what he does. What he creates.Many artists were / are always subjected to shit talking from the standard way of thought. Maybe Kanye isn't the answer in his actions, but the ideas laced within the interview can be rearranged and mixed towards lifting yourself up and accomplishing your dreams.

    i recall just last week sending my good friend a text saying "this will sound so silly but when i listen to college dropout, i am reminded that i am so much bigger than my circumstances and that i'm set to do big things". hearing him say that being a kanye west fan is being a fan of yourself sounds arrogant to some, no doubt, but gdamn does it ring true.

    the last part of this vid of his drive to make clothing over music due to clothing being a necessity is beyond hypocritical; he's currently selling Air Yeezys at the least of $200 and his own designer t-shirts at $500.
    that's 2/3rds of an outfit already for over $700....you call that a necessity for the average person???

      well if he wants to stay away from high-priced clothing, he has no business stressing out to death trying to get within the high fashion world, where everything represents prejudice towards those below high class who can't afford thousand dollar clothing.
