Monkeyboi4567 and the frustration of only being told people like "him" can only have a "certain" genre and do "specific" things drives him nuts, its true , he is fighting for self as much as everyones opinion to get your voice out. Thumbs UP!1
If I had the time and talent, the whole interview would make a wicked album. All the lyrics are done, in very nice quality. Just add some genius beats and samples and you are away. KW would waaaay approve.
This is the stuff I have been saying about Kanye for a while now, he is highly intelligent and a very smart guy, the media chooses to show the side where he hates the Paparazzi and the stuff that he is an ignorant man, which he can be, but he is definitely one of the most bright minded people in our generation and I wish people would understand that. Kanye 2020
+Tyler Ramsey i agree. and lets not talk about book smarts or education. lets think in terms of vision, in terms of aspirations and the ability to achieve your goals. he has achieved every goal he as ever set out for himself, plus more. how many people can say that? not many. it takes intelligence and drive to do that.
+Casimir C Aabba is not a she. And Kanye is not a musician. He's a designer and a performer also. His shoes for example are outselling Jordans, which is quite a big deal. He sold out MSG for a clothing release. Cmon man. Give the man his props.
5 heartbeats part is a reference to the movie by Townsend "The 5 Heartbeats" which is a fictional movie about a up coming R&B group in the 60's. Dealt with the ups and down's of the music industries lifestyle from beginning of the group to the end.REAL GOOD MOVIE The singing reference Mr. West was saying was about social problems with segregation in America when the group was made to sing on the side of a road deep in the south where being of color was a problem. Mr. West might not be understood by many but his mind and his heart is in the right place, I didn't think he went overboard on any question, and the question he felt like he couldn't answer he told Mr. Lowe straight up he couldn't answer. Good interview, Zane was the bomb as well with the interview. Good follow up questions and the connection with Mr. West made it a pretty intense interview.
I feel very motivated after watching this. I absolutely love the passion this man speaks with. I used to criticize him and question his views but he has definitely made me realize what he is all about. "People don't know what they want." "The 5% can't get the message past the 10%." This is one of the best interviews I have ever watched and It made me feel so ignorant yet so much more aware.
These sound like some of Tupacs interviews. If Kanye got murdered, this would be one of those interviews where we'd look at him and be like "damn, this guy didnt give a fuck".
lol what? I Didnt compare him to Tupac. Tupac is on a whole new level. But I was just saying the interview reminds me of a Tupac like Interview. Oh and its *allowed not aloud. Stupid...
Cherelle Lynch are you crazy? kanye is no where near crazy the difference between tupac and kanye. kanye is trying to be the "white man" instead of going against them like tupac. Tupac was trying to lead a revolution kanye is trying to be the revolution. Corporation won't let him shine because he would take over the world with fashion as well as music.
Cherelle Lynch you'rea fucking idiot..look back at the same shit Pac was doing before he died and he's early career was the same as Kanye..and Pac also went to fashion shows, and he wore shit people dissed him for too...and was held back in his early time making what he could til G-shock put him on, and at that time digitals underground was like the roc when Ye got signed..and the amount of frustration with the media and passion he speaks out with agression is the same as Pac, i fucking Love pac and if i didnt i wouldnt like Ye.. - YEAH BITCH I SAID IT...IF YOU LIKE PAC YOU GOTTA LOVE YE...Why? Cause all the heart to heart songs pac made and the love yo have for fam and trying to get BLACK PEOPLE AHEAD and Stop Gang Violence and change that to COMING TOGETHER was all Pac's Dreams...and thats what Kanye's done and keeps doing,,, he said " i dont make no diss records" cause even when 50 cent fell off Kanye introduced more of that less gang violence lets make good music. Bitch you have no foot in Hip Hop or Rap...btw you love pac? you love pac? You love Pac? Then you love Ye. Stop the Violence Stop the killing lets come together and get ahead together.
i feel like this interview was actually twice as long involving kanye going absoltely off, but they had to cut it into different time intervals. like 11:53 it looks like Ye was about to go off on leaving a legacy for artists like Kendrick, but then an awkward pause & a subject jumps into Zane playing a track. I do believe the man is unorganized when it comes to interpreting his thoughts, but I'd definitely appreciate a conversation with him.
I appreciate to bc were like one of the same minds. I want material possessions and i want to feel good bc i am good, i don't wNna slowly die a good person that never made a fair life out of this i want BIG things too like my main man kanye. I used to think he was a batty man but i was wrong that's what i was just fed by the media which portrays him as a racist antagonist etc he's a creative lyrical genius
I sense that his frustrations stem from the fact that he isn't able to get the people he admires, on board with him, to do the things he wants to do. It's apparent that he is getting the meetings by him expressing how many people he has met with for a joint venture, but the frustration of wanting to be limited in his approach. There are many possibilities for this, but one can't deny the oddness of his passionate intensity & the discordance of fashion industry leaders not buying into his vision.
I know a producer here that told Kanye back in the day that he could not rap, told him he should stick to producing. Ha! Can you imagine? Ye is a God!!
society says got to school get a job and all that a trap. Run with whatever your passion is and make your job, do what you love or you might as well be dead. I would rather fight for what i love for my whole life with no income then work a 9 to 5 my whole life being depressed id rather die.
Kanye is a once in a generation artist. Those who hate on him do so because of his personality. Speaking as a professional musician who's been playing for over 15 years (guitar, bass, keys, drums, vocals, production, engineering, mixing) I can tell you, without a doubt in my mind, that Kanye West is one of only a very few artists that are still considered "mainstream" who is actually REALLY PUSHING the boundaries. Not just hip-hop. Kanye is beyond hip-hop. He's a gift to the art world. KW!
It's so painful to see some of these comments expressing that Kanye is just a rapper and should stick to his lane. Do you people not realise that he is trying to branch out and master other professions and provide new products? If he never pushed to be something else he would still be a producer. But no, he's pushed himself to be a rapper and subsequently a fashion designer who, by the way, just signed a $10 million deal with Adidas. There's only more to come, people who think he should stay in his lane are the same people that follow what they've been told to do all their lives instead of following their hearts.
yeah he's making t-shirts costing around £120 to buy....... thats why people hate make stuff the people who brough you music when you was struggling can afford.
MAZEY22 Kanye said he couldn't set the price for his shirts because those were the conditions of his deal.. That is why he was trying to get someone to back his ideas so he has the control as well as the money.
MAZEY22 funny cause people aint got pounds for shirt.... "But both black and white will smoke crack tonight" 2Pac People will make space, time, and budget to afford whatever they want. That's like saying oh what you won the lotto? Well keep it real man dont buy a house or get a new car thats selling out..keep it real bro. Thats just broke ass slave mentality....oh and just so you know...Kanye didnt set the price on the shirts..but Ye appreciates yall hate and support :D
After hearing this interview and listening to what he said, I understand his frustrations/motives and why he does what he does. I get it kanye, I finally get it.
The interview is even better because Zane is a huge fan and the questions he asks obviously shows this and therefore the questions are more interesting and it gets something out of Kanye that he normally doesn't get to express.
He's not cocky he's just EXTREMELY creative and you can clearly see that point proven because when he speaks about his passions vs. what he's done to pursue those passions the determination is there... But the ways he goes about getting there have never been done before and I can respect that 100%
no... he is a egotistical delusional puppet. nobodys afraid of him people just remember the good old kanye back in the through the wire days, back when he mainly produced for jay-z, back when he was sane, back when he made music for the love not the money.
4:35-5:22 when Kanye brought up the topic about "ego", he took the exact words of vocabulary i was trying to get out of my mouth, literally when somebody genuine is trying to give you a chance to listen up on things your suppose to listen too to make "yourself" feel that powerful feeling to get something new on yourself to feel, so people like Kanye who’s tryna to answer the issues like that, listen to them and don’t go "ego"’mode, but out of what of talking about, this is the reason why I declare Kanye West my generation idol because of how his characterization is , PRAISE YE 🤧🖤 !!!!
I agree - because this generation is completely and utterly devoid of class and originality. A "man" wearing leather skirts on stage and women's pants and incessantly calling himself a genius and cultural icon is about as far from Tupac Shakur as it's possible to be.
This is a PHENOMENAL interview! Whether or not Zane got what he wanted out of it as an interviewer as the VIEWER I got EVERYTHING out of this. Kanye is speaking true knowledge, he's on his soap box screaming out. And if you are one of those that ignores his message and keeps walking, you're the example of what he is saying when he says some of us are programmed to ignore him and some of us are programmed to question and explore and totally understand what he is saying. WAKEUP! Bravo kanye!
Its fact that Kanye is a passionate person. He could only speak of what he has "seen" (his experiences). My guess is that being a black man is not easy. you could in one hand the black people who have made it, (Oprah being one of them). His frustration stems from what he witnesses in his community racial profiling, violence, addictions, abuse, etc. His powerlessness has made him who he is today. The fact that he saw his mom work so hard to fill in for both parental roles was not easy for Kanye, who wanted to help his mother out so badly. All he wants to do is help, but being pushed down so much could only make Kanye resort to how much he believes in himself and his intuition, which has taken him pretty far. So to me he is not arrogant, he is confident, (you kinda have to be if you want to survive in a society that is against you). The host seems so uninterested to what Kanye has to say because he doesn't understand the life of a black man, his eyes have only seen life through a white mans perspective. But Kanye knows that, he didn't go into the interview wanting to talk about his album he went in with a message. He made it known loud and clear. His art is an extension of who he is. Call him overly ambitious or materialistic but I think he is aware of it as he calls himself a slave to it. He is guilty of falling into buying the $5000 pants while there are people who are judged for not being able to afford shoes. I personally like Kayes old stuff but you can tell there is a storm brewing in his soul, he has purpose and attributes it to GOD this is why he calls himself yeezus. He only makes quality (dope) things = perfection and we all hopefully know that perfection is relational to GOD. People hate him because he has alot to say regarding the biases we have and judgements we carry with us, usually it is not what we expect to hear. He is extremist and his demeanor could be carried out more sensitively but, as he said it, he is frustrated at how society is so conservative. I am not trying to justify his character I just feel he gets lost in translation with so much going on his life. I could go on and on but you get the point...
thank you for speeking out those words. im glad you understood his message and also keeping yourself together like your own thoughts. i wish all people would try too understand more instead of rageing or insulting things they dont get. nobody, as kanye already said, has to be with his opinion but at least you should think about it and if not, just keep on doing what you wanted to do instead of letting out your hatred. thanks again!
Its got to to one of the most intense interviews ever, whether you agree of what he says or not is your own choice. One of the most contrevertial figures in history? He is who he is.
I hated Kanye West but I sat and watched the whole interview 1-5 and I gotta say he ain't that bad as people make em out to be...He just lost a hater, now I'm just indifferent...lol
I dont agree but, they have A LOT in common both got parents whom where panthers (but pacs parents are legends), the're both fashionable, both have a GREAT speaking voices, & talk equivalently, both are Geminis, both are ''feminine'', both have a big mouth.. But no one can be the new Tupac hes the biggest the culture could create Kanye is the first kanye. *Big differences tho is that Kanye is a perfectionist while pac made his 3 bigget albums under 3 weeks.* CRAAZY.
Tim Kruse no not 3 albums under 3 weeks, he did them separately each one of them took under 3 weeks. for example The Don Killuminati album took him 7 days, All Eyez On Me 2 weeks, and Me Against The World 3 weeks. ALOM & MATW where both done in 95 so pac even did 2 classic in one year but ALOM was released around january or something 96 but was recorded in October 13th to 27th of 1995. thats crazy.I got this from an interview with the producers and engineers of the albums on RUclips, he even help produce the beats and music videos.
This was one of the greatest things ive watched. I feel inspired. Kanye is on another level. I wish i could see the world from his eyes for only a minute
I like the way Kayne talks. He has a very storytelling and metaphorical way of speaking, he takes a while to get to his point and he often tails off and gives examples that gets him to start thinking other stuff that he goes on to speak about. The route to what he thinks to his mouth must be a mind map compared to a straight road unlike most
I can understand what he wants. He wants THE BEST. Period. If you love something, and persue what you love, "Creatively" you are going to put in the best, to get the best. Now, if you KNOW that your efforts are at a maximum, and you get denied what you deserve, then of course you will be in a rage, or feel amgrier and more driven to achieve what you earn. You are not going to let someone tell you, that you can't.
The person who denied Kanye the fashion, architecture etc deal and created this volcanic eruption must be shocked at the pandora's box he opened. Yeezus! Zane tries and tries and finally gives in to the Kanye wordy fury.
"I looked in the mirror and said grow up Kanye. I'm ready to get out of my own way. The ego is overdone ... Yes I was that guy. A 32 year old child." - Kanye West Some things never change.
Just watched the entire interview.. Definitely some fair and very true points made I respect Kanye for this and I can't wait to see how the world will respond to this. Will there be changes?..
"As you see I would rather have a conversation." Actually I see Kanye as a super villain delivering a monologue to a protagonist, tied up and hanging over the shark tank...
"we dont wanna feel good, we wanna be good"
so great
thats a pretty strong quote. Its crazy how this stuff just comes out of him naturally
Monkeyboi4567 and the frustration of only being told people like "him" can only have a "certain" genre and do "specific" things drives him nuts, its true , he is fighting for self as much as everyones opinion to get your voice out. Thumbs UP!1

Am i the only person who watched this full interview and really liked it? I was actually inspired...
If you’re a fan of Kanye you’re a fan of yourself
Me too, and that’s real, I’m a fan of Kanye and I’m a fan of myself.

+Tyler Ramsey Amen Just Think the same
+Tyler Ramsey i agree. and lets not talk about book smarts or education. lets think in terms of vision, in terms of aspirations and the ability to achieve your goals. he has achieved every goal he as ever set out for himself, plus more. how many people can say that? not many. it takes intelligence and drive to do that.

+Casimir C you're welcome to your opinion but perry much everyone who's opinion matters disagrees.
He recently stated that TIMBALAND is the best producer of all time. I agree with him on that.
Kanye was not ready to finish he could have talked all night loool. love it.
If you don't understand the poignant business principles that Kanye shares in this interview, you should rip the video and play it back at half-speed.
theyre too one minded to even do that
If you honestly think there's any more to this guy than just self absorbed loon then you've fallen for it.
Sultans Of Zing you've fallen for society, the government, corporate america, and the systems trap.
Sultans Of Zing I like this fall...seems pretty sensible to me o n by the way ur basic. Lmao
Sultans Of Zing your comment was pretty clear cut. Don't try to act like there was more to it
He is really smart and the fact that he is not afraid to speak his mind makes him even smarter. Yep.
he's the glitch
2018, 5 Years later.. Kanye was right about everything lol and new album dropping this year 😤
kanye will change the world. i believe
kanye *HAS* changed the world
tydztan he already has dawg

Kanye west is probably the greatest icon of this century
that's a true fact
Such an inspiration interview. At about 13:20 you can tell he starts to get emotional when he talks about the part he plays in the mainstream.
"Us as a people, can't do it on our own!"
Dope interview.🙏🏾💯
"My god. That was the most intense fucking interview of my life."
Too true.

I want this entire interview on dvd. This is one of the most inspiring interviews ever
I'd like to take a moment to note the lovely cinematography of this interview. Some of these shots are just perfect.
he killed this interview
There is sooooo much I can say on this.
Ty Michelle "we don't wanna feel good we want to be good"

i feel like this interview was actually twice as long involving kanye going absoltely off, but they had to cut it into different time intervals. like 11:53 it looks like Ye was about to go off on leaving a legacy for artists like Kendrick, but then an awkward pause & a subject jumps into Zane playing a track.
I do believe the man is unorganized when it comes to interpreting his thoughts, but I'd definitely appreciate a conversation with him.

I love the camera work in these interviews. It is so simple, but it keeps the interview so raw.

the fuckin ending is so brilliant
can you please explain what he was saying, is he saying hes a slave to consumer capitalism or something like that?
yea pls can someone make it clear?
He is like an Art Gallery. You either feel him, understand him, are perplexed by him, you connect OR YOU DONT. I didn't at part 2 but I do now.
I know a producer here that told Kanye back in the day that he could not rap, told him he should stick to producing. Ha! Can you imagine?
Ye is a God!!
I love this part 07:23
He has mental breakdown
definately one of the most inspirational rappers ive seen since tupac
society says got to school get a job and all that a trap. Run with whatever your passion is and make your job, do what you love or you might as well be dead. I would rather fight for what i love for my whole life with no income then work a 9 to 5 my whole life being depressed id rather die.
I totally agree.🙏
Kanye West is so inspirational. The world will see one day what you truly have to offer
That was the most real interview ever! I understand him way better now.
I couldn't have said what you've said any better. Ppl that follow what they've been told hate him. They're the assholes
MAZEY22 funny cause people aint got pounds for shirt....
"But both black and white will smoke crack tonight"
2Pac
People will make space, time, and budget to afford whatever they want.
BUT NOW HE YEEZY, THE NEWEST BILLION DOLLAR BABY

That last part was so fucking powerful 💯
Zane Lowe has just shown the world how to interview artists like Kanye and keep it dignified and about the heart of the person and his art!
people are afraid of kanye west. so they want to dismiss him off as arrogant or a douchebag.
no... he is a egotistical delusional puppet.
nobodys afraid of him

oh i get it, YOU'RE A TOWEL.
@@MAZEY22 seems like he was right
Wow....One of the best Interviews I've ever seen..
He is a Great Mind...That's why I respect songwriters...they vent beautifully...they have a way with words and can express themselves to the Masses
Zane's reaction at end was funny...You could see he hadn't expected such an intense interview!
Kanye West is dropping crazy ass gems. Zane is listening to a crazy person. I agree with both of them.
1:57 I'm speaking to everybody but I'm sending cues to the right people to say come and help me help everybody else you will win with me"
love this part
Ye was speaking to me rn in the future

Kanye quite simply has seen the bigger picture...
Kanye West = This Generation's 2pac
I agree - because this generation is completely and utterly devoid of class and originality. A "man" wearing leather skirts on stage and women's pants and incessantly calling himself a genius and cultural icon is about as far from Tupac Shakur as it's possible to be.

Even after all these years it’s still a goated interview. Kanye speaks his mind so freely that this interview coulda carried on for so much longer

I would maybe agree with you. But your vocabulary and grammar is the level of a 3rd grader
Shut up
*Clapping in out bro* by FAR greatest reply to one of my comments
I hated Kanye West but I sat and watched the whole interview 1-5 and I gotta say he ain't that bad as people make em out to be...He just lost a hater, now I'm just indifferent...lol
Mexicano9213 how do you feel about him now?
I needed to watch this today
Best interview I've ever seen or heard
Yeezy going through some breakthroughs
a genius who is widely misunderstood.
Kanye is the new 2pac to me
I dont agree but, they have A LOT in common both got parents whom where panthers (but pacs parents are legends), the're both fashionable, both have a GREAT speaking voices, & talk equivalently, both are Geminis, both are ''feminine'', both have a big mouth.. But no one can be the new Tupac hes the biggest the culture could create Kanye is the first kanye.
*Big differences tho is that Kanye is a perfectionist while pac made his 3 bigget albums under 3 weeks.* CRAAZY.
Ive been saying for years now that he and Pac have uncanny similarities with only a few differences here or there.
Samuel Sjöstedt Gonzalez 3 Albums in under 3 weeks? for real? nooo way
Tim Kruse no not 3 albums under 3 weeks, he did them separately each one of them took under 3 weeks. for example The Don Killuminati album took him 7 days, All Eyez On Me 2 weeks, and Me Against The World 3 weeks.
Have u heard about a legend a king named eminem?
this still makes sense, he was so ahead of his time that he could say this all again, and it would still make sense
This was one of the greatest things ive watched. I feel inspired. Kanye is on another level. I wish i could see the world from his eyes for only a minute
this is deep shit.
who's here from flyingkitty?

Kanye woke up only to realize most of the world is still sleeping.
probably one of the best interviews i've seen in my live...
I don't think many rappers can say that they are as passionate about every single word that comes out of their mouth as Kanye is
5:25 whos here from @genius
4:45 “We DoNt kNoW wTf It’S rEaL”
Oh no I don't expect people to understand me at all
Lol
Kanye is the best
in amongst all this erraticness, lack of self awareness and self control were some big philosophical questions and real clarity.
This was probably the funniest shit I have read in a very long time...I needed that laugh so fuckin bad. God bless you.
This aged well
“When you don’t feel like playing with a cat//That’s racism”
Kanye is gonna be Pictured as a God in the year of the Aquarius like Jesus was in the year of Pisces
do you really think so??
I like the way Kayne talks. He has a very storytelling and metaphorical way of speaking, he takes a while to get to his point and he often tails off and gives examples that gets him to start thinking other stuff that he goes on to speak about. The route to what he thinks to his mouth must be a mind map compared to a straight road unlike most
The best interview of all time.
This man is a genius
He's not stupid he's pretty smart but his mental condition makes him seem worse than he actually is
Flying kitty brought me here
I can understand what he wants.
This was an incredible interview
" I like dopeness"
The person who denied Kanye the fashion, architecture etc deal and created this volcanic eruption must be shocked at the pandora's box he opened. Yeezus! Zane tries and tries and finally gives in to the Kanye wordy fury.
"I looked in the mirror and said grow up Kanye. I'm ready to get out of my own way. The ego is overdone ... Yes I was that guy. A 32 year old child." - Kanye West
Some things never change.
Just watched the entire interview.. Definitely some fair and very true points made I respect Kanye for this and I can't wait to see how the world will respond to this. Will there be changes?..
I got to the eighth minute & decided to scroll down, saw your comment & i can't stop laughing XD Thaaaank you
I expected the interview to end with Kanye rubbing one out and climaxing on his own stomach. Apparently there wasn't enough time for that.
"As you see I would rather have a conversation."
Actually I see Kanye as a super villain delivering a monologue to a protagonist, tied up and hanging over the shark tank...
Zane Goes Mhm A lot And It Sort Of Pisses Me Off
Such an inspirational man!
Godliness with CONTENTMENT is of great gain....
Still on the internet.... Big fan of Kanye but just sayin....its still on the internet
Why this guy is looking and talking all around and not to the person that interviews him...
16:57 "What the fuck is he talking about"
Ok. Rock / Metal chick here. 2021. Glad i made an effort. I really respect the passion and honesty!
Wow!!! What he's saying makes so much sense and he has become my inspiration
