      I don't know how they are dealing with Force Healing at Disney, but it used to be that Jedi Healers channeled the Force through themselves to heal others. It cost them some but they weren't loosing any life force, just getting tired and in need of recharging their reserve of Force.

    This is our first time seeing Barriss in a whopping 11 years! The Clone Wars episode The Wrong Jedi first aired in March 2013. Leave it to Filoni to answer what happened to Barriss by ending the story that makes us ask “Wait, what happened to Barriss?”
    Maybe they plan to put her in live action- maybe for the Ahsoka series?
    Are we starting Bad Batch next Friday?

      There was an interview with Dave Filoni years ago in which he mentions that he wanted to bring Barriss into an episode of Rebels but he just couldn't work out how to fit her story together with the Ghost crew. So he said he is just going to hold onto her story until there is a better opportunity to tell it.

    Lynn was in the Kenobi series as an Inquisitor, so the final episode takes place at least 10 years after the previous two episodes. The reason Barriss looks so old is likely because healing people with the Force actually drains your own life away. Since she's called "The Healer".

  • @nolhok
    @nolhok 14 дней назад +10

    In Star Wars Legends (the Pre-Disney books), Barris was gifted in the art of Force Healing. However, she is never seen doing this in The Clone Wars, so it is cool to see her signature gift return as a signifier of her character development.
    Also, I loved the Force-Healer-Hermit that Barris became. It's such an interesting development that's so cool! :)

    Prevailing theory for why Barris seems older than she should be: They call her a healer (she is established in slightly older materials to be proficient in force healing) and it’s been established that force healing involves transferring life energy. So she’s force healed enough people that it’s aged her.
    Lyn aka The Fourth Sister was in the Obi Wan show for like a minute and did nothing. I don’t even remember if she spoke.
    Hey, we’ve got two inquisitors Ahsoka killed. The one from Tales of the Jedi and Marrok from the Ahsoka show
    Yeah that jedi was non binary
    There is a book _Rise of the Red Blade_ about an inquisitor that I believe goes deeper into the recruitment/training. I haven’t gotten to it yet.
    “Feel like the spinning [saber] is a cheat code” Dave Filoni explicitly called them cheat mode sabers 🤣
    Lyn _Rakish_ is definitely NOT a twilek. Her species hasn’t been identified. You must’ve been looking at Lyn _Me,_ who is definitely a twilek, one of Jabba’s dancers in Return of the Jedi

    22:52 Yeah that's kinda how I felt watching this. The ending felt a bit underwhelming and generally it just felt like a lot of Barriss' story was skipped over due to this taking place in a Tales series. Like if she had her own show, even if it was shortened, I feel like they could have built her up better and had a more satisfying ending. As it is, it's just meh IMO. Also, I'm a little disappointed they gave us no real interactions between her and either Vader or Ahsoka.

    @Thenormies,
    24:58 I don't think she died. I think Chris was correct in assuming that Barriss' breaths were shallow. The ending theme was hopeful, for Lyn and for Barriss. Lyn told Barriss she'd get her out of the cave. Wasn't she speaking to Barriss because she wanted her to know that she wasn't going to leave her to die in the cave? If Barriss were dead, don't you think Lyn would have said so?
    Personally, I think this story was left open-ended so it can be revisited in other media if they so choose to.

    I'm not sure how I feel about the last episode. On one hand, I'm glad to see that Barriss came so far back into the light, but on the other hand, I feel like the episode doesn't really fit in with the tone of the series. It seems more intuitive that the final episode would end with Barriss leaving the Empire, although I can see how one might make the case that it makes sense for her story to end with her helping Lyn come to her own realization and leave as well. So, yeah, not really sure how I feel.
    While I don't think this series is as deep and cohesive as Tales of the Jedi, I do still enjoy this format of using animation to tell multi-episode story arcs about different characters, and I would like to see Lucasfilm continue to do this on a larger scale. I'd love to see an anthology series that's kind of like The Clone Wars, except that it tells stories in all eras of Star Wars, with each season having its own theme or underlying story like Tales of the Jedi/Empire. That would be the dream!
    Side note: The dark side hasn't stopped Lyn from aging, like you suggested; Barriss has just aged faster, which is weird because she is the same species as Vernestra Rwoh from the High Republic books and The Acolyte, and should have the same abnormally long lifespan. The last episode of this series almost certainly takes place between Lyn's appearance in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and the fall of the Empire, so there can't have been more than a 10- to 20-year gap between the last two episodes, depending on when they take place. The best theory I've heard to explain why Barriss appears to have aged so much in a relatively short period of time is that she has been using the Force to heal people by transferring bits of her life essence into them, like what Rey and Ben Solo did for each other in the Rise of Skywalker, only she appears to have done it so many times that it's caused her to visibly age.

    It's hard finding reactors who fully respect/understand non binary individuals. I totally get the confusion with the initial realization of the character being non binary (they did a bad job making their pronouns clear to the audience) but maybe after realizing they're non-binary you stop using he/him pronouns for the character? Especially when the actor (Ry Chase), who is non binary in real life, wasn't even assigned male at birth.

      I hear what you all are saying. But, first, singular they has been in use for hundreds of years, long before it was used for people with non-binary gender. I’m 50 years old, and I’ve always used and heard other people using singular they/theirs to refer to people when the gender is unknown. It’s very natural, and people use this word this way all the time. So the accuracy of using singular they is well-attested by long common usage. And it does have a use: a simple way of referring to a single person of unknown gender. It is ambiguous (as to number of people, at least to the audience), so, sure it has a downside. But language in general always lacks complete specification. In the context of that conversation, everyone involved may have already known they were discussing one Jedi, so they may not have seen the need to explicitly specify that. Also, it is possible there was another Jedi, but they were not together at the time that the one we saw was tracked down.

      If I take it at face value, without going meta on the story and writing, then this just makes her seem incompetent or careless, something incongruent to how she had been behaving so far, at least in these episodes.
