Well done. I never got on with Napa cabs - expensive, alcoholic fruit juice and often over-oaked - but I last drank it more than 30 years ago, so I am sure they have changed. Love Mas de D. but 2020? Infanticide! Not tried that for a while, either, so it may have 'Modernised.' You have galvanised me into action - I will try to find a bottle with some age at a reasonable price, if I can.

I drank two bottles of Caymus, same vintage, a 1990 or so. The first showed potential, but had some harshness in the tannins. I stashed the second for 3.5 years, and it was a memorable wine, with depth, richness, but still a delicious drinkability. It was the best 20 dollars I've ever spent. Yep, that's what it cost back then. Speaking of which, I also drank a Chateaux Lafitte that I paid 27 for. Give me a time machine, I need to go shopping!

I love big oaky cabernets. I once bought a half-bottle of Caymus and was very excited to try it. On the nose I was worried, it smelled like fake, candys, on the nose I thought "oh fxxx! just like that vomitous meoimi thing.". On the palate - it was worse. It tasted manufactured. I couldn't finish the glass. It made me queasy. Reminds me of trying Durian fruit ice cream. It's not often for me to think "vomit". I dont get it - I love big red wines - Shafer's Hillside Select, Henschke's Mount Edelstone , Mollydooker's Carnival of Love. I also love cheap, well-made big reds - Juan Gils Monastrell ($11.99). France is KING. Half of the country is literally vineyards. There are small producer families who have been there for 400 years. They keep all of their rules and traditions. This, along with soil and climate equals superior wines. Even the lesser known regions produce superior wines (Languedoc) and people still know very little about these quality wines. The price point ratio is ridiculous compared to overpriced Napa wines. The white wines of France are so overlooked it's criminal (I hope you do more shows on French whites).
