This footage refreshed my silent memories..felt emotional while watching, as I was 10 in 1985, residing in Chawl near Worli Naka in Bombay (Mumbai). I feel South Mumbai is quite same now but rest everything has changed a lot. It is now super populated, filthy, traffic everywhere and even people are less friendly. Back then though the average standard of living was bad but it was very cosmopolitan, more accommodating, more freedom, more safe and had more friendly people. I left Mumbai few years back but still feels as a Mumbaikar everywhere. Thanks Sir for sharing this beautiful nostalgic video !
I am really curious to know the intention of the person taking the video. Someone shooting so casually in the 80's is such a rare thing. I really envy his passion. Thanks for uploading it for a larger audience. It really made my day. I was born in 1998, but viewing this was as amusing as it would be to a 80's born. It was like a time travel to the past.
....😊....congrats....the person who have made n posted this 'live experience' of world famous streets of Bombay(1985)...n this video takes u back to original n early eras of Bombay, what to do is Mumbai....any streets of this world famous city is just 'busy' with traffic n people walking endless on these streets either walking/travelling anytime.....most important, those old age cars(yellow taxis) can be seen in which even I was lucky to travel during my teenage......this was the thrill n actual life of average Indians....thanks.... 👍....
Wonderful. This video is s GEM. I was always curious to see the 70s and 80s of Indian Streets. This man's thought was much ahead of his time, he probably didn't know that there would be create a trend of vlogging in future. I wish to travel back to this era. Thanks to the admin for posting this video. Plz bring more such vintage videos. 😀💎
Even i feel the same but it's because of the things in it feel old as we have and seen better and newer things. Video quality can be a parameter there too and yeah 30-40 years down the line 2020 will feel the same as of 1985 for the future kids. It goes on.
It's humbling and downright awe inspiring for me to witness the significance of this video. My dad was in Mumbai somewhere in the city while this man was filming in 1985. Crazy for me to think about but so cool to get a glimpse of what my father witnessed throughout his time in this beautifully chaotic city he once called home. Thank you for the upload, it truly does mean a lot.

Cozy was the name of the company who use to at that time fit side cars on motorcycles and scooters.. Also the street vendors from VT station to fountain were my regular visit to buy things.. At 1985 Mumbai & Shanghai were same but now where is Shanghai & Mumbai still as same. Leaders should come out with some master plan to modernized the city

Thanks for sharing the video. I had smile on my face throughout while watching it. I was around 8 years old living in Bombay (now it is called Mumbai). Enjoyed seeing the old Bombay of which I have fade memories. It was quite free from vehicular traffic less populated Bombay in those years. Now it is over populated with People and Cars, hardly any space to walk and drive vehicles around. I like the old name of the city "Bombay"! God bless the City and people living in the city.

I had a teary eyes. Whatever we see in this video was more or less the same in 1988-89/90 because world wasn't changing that fast. This video took me back in time when my dad used to take me along with him to Bombay in local trains as we lived in suburbs. He used to be on foot or bus most of time as hiring taxi was considered little expensive. I remember the images/scenes of those times my dad holding my hand and walk walk and walk. I always prayed for double dekker bus when we used to wait at the bus stop. He used to buy me street food like Sing Chana, Vada Pav, Dosa, Dabeli, Juices etc. I miss my dad 😢.

I was born in 1985 April. Can't describe this beautiful feeling in words. Pure nostalgia! Thanks for sharing this. Look at that blue color truck in the beginning of the video, we have seen in so many old movies these trucks used to crush the 'boodhi Maa' 😂
Mumbai is same now as it was before. Nothing has changed apart the dressing, food & cars. The famous Mohammedali road, Dadar, Mahim, Colaba, Bycullla, Dharavi, Kalbadevi street etc all are same. People are more friendlier than before.
Nepotism promoted by none other than the Jihadi Snake called Dawood Ibrahim. SRK, Salman and Amir get their strength from him, as long as he is alive and they will also lose their strength with Dawood's death. Dawood's death should probably sound the death knell for Nepotism in Bollywood.
@@kinkosam2167 true the only way to be a successful star in today's bollywood is you hafto be star kid. This was the time sridevi and madhuri were rising

Shows clearly Bombay was already overcrowded in 1985. Too crowded and noisy for me with the incessant honking. I believe it was ok till around 1960 or so. I dare not say anything about 2023!
Too crowded, full of traffic and extremely noisy what with the incessant honking. I couldn't live there. And, if that was the case in 1985, I wonder how it must be now. I have seen videos of Bombay dating back to 1920's. It seems way better then further back I go in time. Personally, from the videos I have seen, might as well say 1960 was alright for the city. Still manageable. Not later.
That was the time when Super Stars like Amitabh, Jeetendra, Mithun, Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Raj Babbar, Rajesh Khanna, were ruling the film industry no SRK no Salman Khan no Akshay Kumar no Aamir Khan no Ranveer Singh were there
I must have been less than 1 year-old old during this video, crapping my nappies or suckling for milk not realising that this gem of a video will catch my eyes 39 years later. In this video, Bombay feels just as hot, looks just as dusty and smells just as sweaty as it does today. But yet there is something about old Bombay that stands out for us millennials! If you walk the streets at DN road, Colaba or Flora fountain today - things haven’t changed much. The same people from the video are still walking the streets - they are just wearing T-shirts - more colours than just plain white - and holding a mobile phone to their ears or arching their neck onto their phones.
It's not plaza cinema.. Its the junction of mandvi post office mohammed ali road.. This left and then right which the taxi driver took is just after the shalimar hotel..
Beautiful video. For those who think life was bliss then, let me say that a lot of things have become easier now. Life was tough tben. Bombay was very filthy with slums all around, defecation on most streets outside of South Bombay, and corruption all around with the underworld controlling the economy. How things have changed... technology has made it possible for people to be more aware. For the generation born later, ur seriously blessed to have more opportunities today than ever before. use ur present to make a better tomorrow .. ❤

Kinko Sam after 2-3 years of it srk salman and aamir was entered in bollywood
Nepotism promoted by none other than the Jihadi Snake called Dawood Ibrahim.
SRK, Salman and Amir get their strength from him, as long as he is alive and they will also lose their strength with Dawood's death. Dawood's death should probably sound the death knell for Nepotism in Bollywood.
@@kinkosam2167 true the only way to be a successful star in today's bollywood is you hafto be star kid. This was the time sridevi and madhuri were rising
time when Bollywood had made good movies too i believe...amitabh,mithun,jeetendra...then anil kapoor, sunny deol, jackie shroff, sanjay dutt, kumar gaurav and even rajinikanth....
Imagine how happy will be vasant after seeing himself in this video from 80's
Thank you so much for uploading ❤

Nowadays
"You are on RUclips"
Shows clearly Bombay was already overcrowded in 1985. Too crowded and noisy for me with the incessant honking. I believe it was ok till around 1960 or so. I dare not say anything about 2023!
What an Era
I was there in 1977 for a couple of months and I felt it's a dirty city, can't breath good air, mostly I spent at the sea shore side
Not later.
That was the time when Super Stars like Amitabh, Jeetendra, Mithun, Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Raj Babbar, Rajesh Khanna, were ruling the film industry no SRK no Salman Khan no Akshay Kumar no Aamir Khan no Ranveer Singh were there
Golden times with gold 💓 people fun unlimited
Where must that vasant be now?
Vasant must be a old man retired back to his village where he came from
Vasanth has become a billionaire/crorepathy like Tata

I love and miss you grandfather cry and cry come back to me
Even in 1985 Bombay was so ahead of it's time in India
Because of British
Because of it’s people :) British has no contribution in lifting up the cosmopolitan spirit of the city.

Days were so simple and beautiful back then
Beautiful video. ❤
It’s same today
@@rohanutep81 its the same today for those who think everything is an entitlement for them.
He traveled from Byculla ..Mohd Ali Road..VT(CST)..Fort..Handloom house(DN road)..Mumbai University...Elphinstone college & then returned to Crawford market. I live in this part of Mumbai. I was 10 years old then.
South Mumbai is the only part of Mumbai worth seeing. Rest is Concrete Jungle and Slums.
