Im trying to get a Ethernet cable downstairs into the basement without drilling holes in the floor. I can go outside the windows from 2nd flr into the small basement windows, any ideas on how I could do this, would the screen close properly? The cable is flat and may be able to still allow screens to close. The screens are old and I'm not even sure they have springs in them they just seem to be fit right into the window.... I cant find any way to take the screens out. They are very small rectangle basement windows

This is fine IF you have the latches on the screen frame. Mine didn't. :( After struggling for 30 minutes trying to remove the screen from the front, the wife says "Why don't you try from inside the window". So in the house I go and in two minutes I discover-she was right! I simply removed a plastic strip along the left side of the screen and it came right out!
I have watched video after video trying to figure out how to properly remove and replace my screens (after having broken one a little while ago). Only today did I discover that in order to remove and replace MY screens, you have to push the two little levers on top of the window glass, and then tilt the glass inward. Once you do that, it’s as easy as can be!
I accidentally knocked mine out trying to clean snow/ice off and it fell from the second story into the snow and now a week later I was able to get it but can’t get it back in without dropping it again 😢
Screens keep insects out if the window is open. If that is not a concern, then you don't need screens. If you don't own the property cutting them out won't please your landlord.

I have to stand on the window ledge to reach the tabs at the top, but I can’t slide the tabs and pull the window down at the same time. I’ve already tried. I need to put a fan in the window but can’t open the damn thing. Have any ideas?

The building and windows are very old, I was worried i'd either fall out the window, or off the window ledge- the windows are about as tall as I am when I stand on it to reach the tabs, that's around 5'. The window is in the kitchen which also makes it difficult to maneuver. Thank you for your reply.
If you "pull" on the edge of the screen and it is "springy" then the screen comes as the one in the video. I can't say that every window manufacturer uses this method.

So I shoved it in and hope no one notices (there’s a piece that just didn’t want to cooperate when I shoved it in so now a part is just like dangling out)

I am having a hard time reinserting a screen in a small upstairs window. It looks like the same size as yours. Unfortunately, your video angle completely blocks the right track upon reinsertion. 😢 That's where I'm having an issue.
It's the reverse of removing. Place the spring side in the track (part blocked by my shoulder), push on the opposite side of the screen as shown to compress the screen's springs while pulling back on the latch of the side that it not yet in the track. While the springs are compressed slip the opposite side of the screen in the track.

Thanks for the Tip, I pulled mine out and when I did, the spring dislodged and did not now the springs belong both on one side.
what if ur window screen doesn’t have a spring and the screen won’t won’t move cause the window is about the same size
