Look at the Bulls bench in the first half, especially at Steve Kerr. Jordan was hitting some difficult shots and you can see Kerr cover his face as if to say "holy shit!" Starks played Jordan relatively well. Starks was around 6'5", athletic and aggressive. In the 4th quarter, despite having 5 fouls, Starks kept good body position. It's not a knock on Starks, it's more of a testament to how well conditioned Jordan was. Played minor league baseball for the past 1.5 years, this was his 5th game back from retirement, practiced with the team for about 2 weeks before coming back to play at the highest level. His conditioning wasn't all there but it's incredible his timing and sense for the game was still at this level.

John Starks was listed at 6-5 when he played for the Knicks but when he stood next to Michael Jordan who's listed at 6-6 was at least 2 or 3 inches taller than John Starks. John Starks also looked a little shorter than Vernon Maxwell who was listed at 6-4.

That fade away @ around 3:25, SMFH!
I played alotta ball when growing up and praticed the fade away alot. Ppl don't realize how hard it is to fade to ur opposite shoulder like that. That is a very difficult shot, that u don't see Lebronze taking, or really anyone for that matter. MJ WAS F'ING SICK. SO GLAD I WAS ALIVE TO HAVE WACHED ALL THESE OLD GAMES.

A virtuoso shooting performance and then to seal the victory with a pass

They don't make Knicks like this anymore.

thegreatcalvinio - seriously. Both of these teams made me fall in love with basketball in the early nineties. Even though I had watched since back in 84, I started becoming a serious fan in 91. As a NewYorker, I couldn't help but love the blue collar, physical team that the Knicks were - physicality like this breeds rivalries in a way that today's free flowing game never will. It's not just the style of play - today's commercialization of the NBA and today's overpaid kids have chased the hunger to win out of the kids playing today. It's a sad state of affairs for true NBA fans.

What a player!!! But that spin move baseline (0:46) was a shuffle aka travelling violation! Respect the G.O.A.T.

In 2025, I will dedicate the most infamous event where Michael Jordan returned to the NBA since retirement. It will become the most unforgettable night that he made history in Madison Square Garden. Also, this will be next year's 30th Anniversary of the NBA's Double Nickel. 🇵🇭

4:03 No one gets fouled like that in today’s league and there’s no huge fight or controversy. That right there is 80’s-90’s b-ball that these players today have NO CLUE about.

The patience and poise to not take the last shot just because Starks fell in front of him, use time, draw out Pat, dish. And the faith in his teammate to finish, not just bail him out. The Jordan of all time.
