The raven black shire is my number 1 horse once you bond with him you can go into any situation with him gun fights, gator territory, ect he is a overall great horse he may not be the fastest horse in the game but he sure is a strong beast of a horse
I oncr accidently *run over* a alligator i didn't saw and considering the black shire didn't even got spooked by thr alligator to move away from it, it was until after i run over it and heard the alligator being pissed off that i finally noticed the animal xD
I always used a Shire. Then i saw some bloke post a youtube video saying any horse can be made brave if you stable it for 24 in game hours. So to test it i found a thourghbred. Stabled it for at least 1 in game day (it was prolly longer). I got it out of the stable and went right up to a gator and never got bucked off. Now it is nowhere near as brave as a shire but it is good tk have a fast brave horse. When ever the horse starts to whine give it a pat and it wont buck you.

Would even look a charging bear in the eyes without any fear. It didn't baulk over any predator. Couldn't care about predators or gunshots. Was responsive to pain and would bolt if it took a few shots but never threw me or tried to.
There's one horse in the game that's so brave that I honestly believe it's glitched. It's the black Arabian, not the one you can buy, but the one you get by stealing it from the couple being mugged in St. Denis. I've had this horse at least 10X (yes, I've played the game that much, lol), and if it's ever bucked me off, I can't remember. I hunt cougars and panthers with it, ride though gator territory, charge at wolves and grizzly bears with it, and can't recall ever being bucked off. There are other brave horses in the game, but nothing like this one.

My favorite horse for Arthur is the Dark Bay Andalusian. I like the Perlino but i think the Dark Bay and Rose Gray are the braver coat options. Buell's another favorite of mine.

In RDO I have found obviously the turko, is the bravest, but also surprisingly (and maybe im a bit biased bc they're my fav horse breed period) the Vanners you get from Naturalist role are STUPID brave, even the "lowest" level ones. I bought the white blagdon bc i really liked his colour and that horse will body check the biggest gators in Lemoyne (they blend in with the mud and sometimes I dont see the fuckers until we LITERALLY trip over them lmao), and still get up to come back for his momma. ❤😂
In my plattroughs I try to get new horses but I always end up with my light grey shire. She's always been extremely brave. And despite not being the fastest, her stamina easily helps to outrun bounty hunters, O'Driscolls and the law. I love to just go hunt with her too.
Alligator check?? The white Arabian from lake Isabella doesn’t even buck you around gators unless you force it right up to one. The cougar/panther check is the real test.
Dude, you should have checked them at the cougar. In such a situation, you will be thrown off with a high probability. Being near an alligator only disturbs the horse.

Max Bonding ? you can calm your horse when theres a preditor and dont go agains the horse derection when backing off War horses have High courage meters than the other horses with just one growl you will taste dirt alot of times

Switch between your level4 horses every 2-3 game days and you can face panthers and cougars no problemo; even with the white arabian! Your horse needs break, another meticulous detail in this incredible game.
Let me clear something, after many years of RDr2 experiences. Horse bravery is randomized. I had at least 5 perlino andalusians , 2 brave, 3 skittish. And this applies to every horse breed in the game. Most important: male horses (stallions) are the bravest and you can get them from bounty hunters, just do some violent shit and wait for them with the Lancaster repetear and high velocity ammo. Once you see the horse you want, jump on it or just shoot the owner and take it, mostly there will be stallions. Black American Standardbred, the Pieabald Tobiano Hungarian Halbred which is my nr1 favorite horse in story mode, black dutch warmblood, ardennes, etc etc. The first was skittish around crocs, the second around bears, the 3rd... omg the 3rd is like a tank, i ran over grizzlies with him just for fun. Eats snakes for dinner. lol. Perfect horse, i got it from a bounty hunter of corse, they spawn with it near Annesburg at the railway. I keep only the bravest horses which not bucks me off in any condition. Even my white arabian is quite brave, not the bravest but it can handles predators without bucking me off.
In my opinion the always brave ones are just Buell and the grey Hungarian Halfbred. Every other one (even the Perlino Andalusian one) is luck if it's brave or not. You can also have black or white Arabians that are pretty brave and don't buck you off super easily.
Man i saw that buell was brave before deciding to keep him too. I liked the house since i saw it on the second mission and the stats were quite high. I got it and it’s panicking everytime i go near snakes and gators. Bucked me off once right infront of a bear too. Still using it anyway

For Story, my faves, in no particular order: Perlino from Roanoke, weird warped Arabian from Wapiti, Buell (but he totally throws) and as John, silver mustang from new Austin, and definitely el tigre mustang from new Austin. In online, the black turkoman is the sniz. The strawberry ardennes is a great war horse, too. I care mostly about over all stats and but getting thrown, the mft's are fantastic, but they're expensive, so of course they're great. Arabians are mostly crap. The only one I ever found that didn't throw me immediately was the warped weird brindle duder up by Wapiti. And he's a fun guy to break. BUT, he was my main guy for my second play through, and I almost cried when, you know, the thing. That particular Arabian literally never threw me once. Gun fights, gators, cougars, wolves, sooo many wolves, bears, more wolves, in hindsight, it might've been a glitch, because I should've been thrown from him, but anyway, screw most Arabians, mustangs are chill for speed. For Arthur, just get the perlino andalusian by roanoke ridge for free. It's fast, brave, and even though it's like, super identifiable, no one seems to notice. I really wish rock star still cared about this game... gta f*ckin blows goats.
I'm vision impaired so there are a lot oftimes I simply cannot see the wolves or cougars and such until they are up my ass. I'd prefer a hotse to stand it's ground and circle the enemy so I can add some extra holes to it or, if it runs, take me with it. I missremember the one but you can get it from the Braithwaite stabkes during a mission, it does alright. Everything else except the first Shire spook at a moth fart. I've seen rumor the beat up horses the inbreds up in Roake ride are brave as all get out but need TLC to start. Plan on trying it this playthru.
The Mangy Black Rabicano TW is oddly a very Brave horse. Classed as a Work and it’s appearance is quite the trick. It’s great for hunting and gun battles.
there is no brave or fear stat ingame, even in the codes theres none unless you include online because i dont know that one there seems to be a few horses ingame where bucking off code is bugged and will not buck you off even if they have low cores but i think they fixed those horses
All War horses Great for predators 2 of this you can get using a glitch haha the ardennes you can get early in after hunting using a glitch for the speacial interaction and for buel just do the first one and after that run over and him he will run and you can get him
Bravery doesnt exist. There is not a horse in the game that couldnt pass that gator test at full bonding, well fed, and calmed. But its still fun to pretend.
@abraxas511 bro if u look in the compendium at horse descriptions it literally tells you that some horses are good for their bravery and using multiple breeds of horses in my experience it shows. The perlino Andalusian is most definitely brave hunted the legendary panther unphased only bucked me once in Murfree gang ambush trying out the Strawberry roan rn tho
@@taetae-ju6qp No. Its proven to not exist. The code has been checked, its not in there. Its all how you operate them. If you search videos, you will find extensive tests done proving it. They originally planned to put it in, but they never did. So some of the guides and compendiums say that. I get it, I feel it too sometimes. But ive played enough to know it doesnt matter. Health is important, and Stamina. But bravery is non existent, its about bonding, calming, feeding and grooming. Do all those things right, and they all behave the same in the same situation.
@@abraxas511 I get what your saying it’s not in game files as a more interactive feature for us to use but it’s literally a journal for each breed that describes the characteristics of each horse hence is why you would find that commonly you would find war horses tend to braver in most situations war horses are literally made for bravery which is why you can shoot on certain horses without them being distressed then others even though most horses can do what others can overall it’s still the fact some do things better then others even if the files show nothing about it it’s already imprinted on each breed their capabilities. That’s the whole point of having different classes of horses.

The horse breeds in the real world have those traits, and they planned to have that in the game, and made guides and journals to include it. But they cut it out. So there is no such thing now. It simply cannot exist or there would be game codes. People have scoured the code, and its not there. Mostly I think it comes down to experience. Most people start using Arabians, because they are considered the best by so many. They then get bucked easily, because their skill is bad as an unskilled rookie. As they move on, and use different breeds, their skill improves and then they get real good, and they believe its because of the horse, its actually that their skill is better. I use an arabian a lot of the time, because I like the speed. And after playing through the game twice, there is nothing an andalusian can do bravery wise that a morgan cant, if you operate it properly. Simple as that.

The black shire from mission is verry beautiful but he is not warhorse, he not brave, i got kick off many time while riding shire !

@@abraxas511 I get what your saying it’s not in game files as a more interactive feature for us to use but it’s literally a journal for each breed that describes the characteristics of each horse hence is why you would find that commonly you would find war horses tend to braver in most situations war horses are literally made for bravery which is why you can shoot on certain horses without them being distressed then others even though most horses can do what others can overall it’s still the fact some do things better then others even if the files show nothing about it it’s already imprinted on each breed their capabilities. That’s the whole point of having different classes of horses.

The horse breeds in the real world have those traits, and they planned to have that in the game, and made guides and journals to include it. But they cut it out. So there is no such thing now.
It simply cannot exist or there would be game codes. People have scoured the code, and its not there.
Mostly I think it comes down to experience. Most people start using Arabians, because they are considered the best by so many. They then get bucked easily, because their skill is bad as an unskilled rookie.
As they move on, and use different breeds, their skill improves and then they get real good, and they believe its because of the horse, its actually that their skill is better.
I use an arabian a lot of the time, because I like the speed. And after playing through the game twice, there is nothing an andalusian can do bravery wise that a morgan cant, if you operate it properly.
Simple as that.

Andalusian Perlino must be luck because mine bucked and ran off several times even at lvl 4 bond.
