What would you say on having say, muscle band on the likes of ninetails/cramorant/venusaur to boost their attack speed and their 1 and 2 auto attacks a bit too? I've been playing wise glasses shell bell muscleband venusaur for a few games and it seems to work pretty good since his 3rd attack is basically an aoe 1 second stun that chunks for huge damage. Great vid though. I too was under the misconception that all moves scaled with sp atk and only auto attacks scaled with sp atk. I do wish sp attackers had scaling damage on autos with their sp attack tho, and they really need to give us more detailed info on moves in the game.
I actually like muscle band a lot on pika and Ninetales. Increases attack speed so you can weave your moves in between the faster autos. At least the third hits scale on special attack. I decided not to mention muscle band in this video because I’m not 100% it’s better than the other special attack items/energy amp.
This video was excellent. Concise, straight to the point, and incredibly informative. I'd been wondering about the items and physical/special split since release and every other point of information was all over the place. I, myself, was thinking that ranged + areas attacks were special and dash/melee were physical, but it's way easier to just know certain Pokemon are physical vs special. Thanks Joe!
Man, I wish this video was out yesterday haha, I just levelled up my Scope Lens to 20 and I only use a special attacker lol. Better to know this late rather than never though, thanks!
I'm glad now that I only got mine to lvl 10 lol the scope lens doesn't even add noticeable dmg to the big crits. It's like it's a decoy item. Most moba crit dmg enhancing items add at least 50% crit dmg to a crit, this one actually adds half the listed value of you test it.
Personally, I think it'd only be worth it to Scope Lens to have it pile on top of already existing Crit Power, like Charizard's Passive or Absol's Moves, & such. Scope Lens by itself on top of Moves that don't natively crit extra much just isn't good enough compared to other options.
@Mitadru Adhikary That happens to us all, cause anyone familiar with Main Games Greninja knows his Atk is plenty decent but his SAtk is even better... plus his Sig Move, "Water Shuriken" is Special Based. Some of the Transitions into 'Aeos-ized Versions' of stuff seems to have reacted pretty hard & weirdly to the Aeos Energy. :P
@yocuppajoe at first I thought this video was a bit patronizing then I remembered the people always on my team online (I think my rank just hasn't had time to rise yet cause I am pretty new and get mvp half my games)
Such great info in this one video I hope to see more of this on your channle u have a good voice and you wrote a great script tht is easy for any viewer to wrap their heads around GG Joe keep going !!!
I really like your videos, you sir have earned yourself a subscriber. Edit: I was curious if you think shell bell or energy amplifier would be better for Gengar
I think the odd thing about other guides suggesting special attack on someone like Talonflame is that if those people had played a main series Pokemon game, you'd expect them to know that Talonflame is primarily a physical attacker and the moves they have are all physical. Then again, Charizard is a physical attacker with both physical and special moves, so I could understand if there was confusion there (off the top of my head I think at least Pikachu, Zeraora, Cramorant, and Alolan Ninetales also have both physical and special moves). Hopefully the game makes it clear which Pokemon are physical and which are special in an update or something.
@@arkvoodleofthesacredcrotch6060 i dont have a twitter but could still click the link they posted. I know its a cesspool but if its the best chance at giving feedback then its worth filling out the form
I thought it would be much simpler and than how it already is, like if the Pokemon uses a move that makes contact with another Pokemon it's physical and if not it's special
Thing about muscle band is... I think it's kinda okay on everyone! I haven't come to my conclusion on that item, so I didn't really talk about it in this video.
My assumption for why some physical abilities crit while others don't is that these abilites that crit have "on-hit" effects like other MOBAs. For example perhaps Crustle's abilities proc on-hit effects while Zeraora does not. This is just my personal theory though and the actual reason may be way more in-depth

I'm a bit confused about the cookie. It seems a bit broken if you can got 100+ hp each time you dunk. Is there a minimum amount you need to collect before this counts?
I was doing a lot of testing today with scope lense. Mine is lvl 20. I noticed some pokemon are mixed. For example wigglytuff pound and double slap crits but dazzling gleam doesn’t.
Scope lens specifically says it only gives bonus dmg to crits from normal attacks. And the bonus dmg it gives is half of what it says it gives. Even at full value it is nowhere near as much bonus dmg as a pure atk item would give
@@arkvoodleofthesacredcrotch6060 i think at lvl 20 is 8% extra crit damage. Not much but for pokemon that are always criting it may be better then a dumbell . I know is very good if you plan to use it on tanks since they never crit but with scope lense they do frequently. I tried with snorlax and crustle
Yes. I know this differs from what happens in the mainline series, but to make it easier to build characters in this game, TiMi studios had to just make all attacks one type for each character.
Just to be clear, Zeraora is a special attacker. All the moves will deal special damage. Auto attacks are always physical though, no matter what pokemon.
Did you test to see if Zeraora’s moves are special, or are you just repeating what you heard someone else say? Because I’m in the practice area right now and getting no buffs from special attack items on any of Zeraora’s moves.
A lvl 10 special attack glasses outscales a lvl 20 wise glasses after like 4 scores. Problem is that special attack glasses require a good early game to pay off like that. I usually run both anyway though.
Muscle band and float stone for sure. Then you can go for something defensive like rocky helmet or assault vest, or go full damage mode with scope lens
@@yocuppajoe Thanks for the advice! Also, for the third slot, would attack weight work well for full damage mode since it stacks damage with the number of goals? Finally, would focus band be better than assault vest for defense in the third slot or is assault vest still the better option for Lucario?
Ahh a trilane... It has potential, but I'd rather make one lane solo instead of giving up all that jungle exp. The other team would have such a huge advantage because they are actually collecting the exp available in their jungle.

1:26 "because that's how it would work in any other moba" lol no, such bullshit, i think all moba are just as strange in dmgs distribution, it's just that all the stats are written clearly.
Thanks yocuppa, I just did the survey for Unite. Gave feedback requesting they allow resets of the item upgrade tokens so we can experiment with what works for us individually. Biggest concern with the game isn't so much the "pay to win", but that time investment could be totally wasted if (when) the meta changes and new items are released or Pokemon preference changes later on. I want to upgrade my items but I'm anxious about making a mistake. I get that spending on buying items and Pokemon wouldn't work to reset with their pricing model but the item upgrades have such a massive impact on the game that being unable to change this could be a fun killer for a lot of people and ruin the experience long term.
Nah, in almost any moba what moves scale off which damage type is well documented. No way this is an oversight either seeing as how TiMi are the ones in charge. This was a intentionally left out, but not sure if that's for simplicity or greed though.

He needs strong lungs to breathe potent fire c:
I'm a bit confused about the cookie. It seems a bit broken if you can got 100+ hp each time you dunk. Is there a minimum amount you need to collect before this counts?
No minimum. You get the same stack from a 50 score, or a 1 score. There is however a maximum of 6 stacks that you can collect.
