Something I'll say about hammer vs reaper. Hammers are typically available most stations, while reapers are a lot less common. I find myself using them more often early on just to give my frigates some firepower. And much like you mention on how the ai works, they often just toss hammers out asap like they're annihilator pods. Tends to take care of low end shields and sometimes hits hull en masse. Though I'm a mod enjoyer so i just spam tawa standoff wheen I can as they're a great general missile (but don't excel at everything)
Layered mod campaigns sound pretty. Watching mod page grow with time but also not feeling lost is a much better way to handle starsector mod community. One of the first mods i would like you to add on the list is goathead aviation faction. They have a lot of cool hullmods and very unique ships but a lot of their stuff is overtuned
I remember having similar sudden performance issues with modded starsector upgrading the java version fixed it for me, which the devs wan't to do for the next version anyways I think. Also yes the siege laser is stupid powerfull. Edit: nevermind, should learn to finish the vid before commenting lol
Mr, Big Brain Energy, have you tried before the "Mayasuran Navy mod"? It only adds one relatively weak faction, but it adds a ton of cool ships and weapons!
