- This dog survived being swept away in a rain-swollen river for a gnarly two hours. His name is Scooby, after the lovable, loyal cartoon character. Angela Buono is Scooby’s relieved owner. Viewers were glued to their screens watching Scooby’s life and death drama play out on live television in Los Angeles. The German shepherd mix had run into the morally dry Los Angeles Riverbed, but on this day, rain turned it into a fast-moving river.
That poor guy who risk his life to save the dog and Scooby bit him. He's a hero. I would have done what she did to save her dog, so glad everyone is safe and Scooby is ok.

No human should ever risk their life to save any animal. That person’s death will effect far more people than just the rescuer who died. Total waste.

@@TJWatt-eh7fp Ohh, letting the dog drown would be a PR nightmare. I even felt for him. This thing went on for about two hours. One good thing that comes out of this dog rescue is the additional rapid water rescue team get in real life training.
These drains here in Los Angeles kills people all the time. They didn’t get rescued. The LA Country fire department has gotten a lot better at saving people.
My point was, What kind of PR would happen if a rescuer had died saving a dog. Remember the one guy tried to jump in to save the dog, and he had to be rescued. That put the helicopter crew in danger. It is possible he could have drowned. The water was very rapid.

Scooby was a like dog! I watched the rescue and it was awesome, the rescuers never gave up, tough job! Glad to see the dog is okay and everybody who was trying to help. 🐕

I kept getting alerts about the rescue, I'd watch, then turn it off it was super stressful seeing him floating away, I can only imagine how traumatizing it was for Scooby. Was so happy when I heard he was rescued!! Hope she stays away from the area next time it rains!
So very happy for her; Scooby looks like our dog. I'd be terrified. No wonder he bit a rescuer; he was justly terrified. Blessings to the man who got bit; you were doing the right thing and he was justifiably terrified. I have a rescue too; and animals get PTSD.

We had a similiar case in Brazil, but to rescue 3 dogs in the busiest highway in the country (Rio-Niterói). Authorities had to block the road in both ways for 20 minutes and to suspend the operations of the Rio de Janeiro's subway.
