- The Three Stooges, consisting primarily of Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Curly Howard (and later including Shemp Howard, Joe Besser, and "Curly Joe" DeRita), are an iconic and enduring comedy trio. With their signature slapstick humor, physical comedy, and memorable catchphrases, they left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment. The Stooges began their comedic journey in the early 1920s, initially as part of a vaudeville act, eventually transitioning to short films produced by Columbia Pictures. Moe, with his distinctive bowl haircut and leadership skills, served as the de facto leader and "boss Stooge." Larry, often seen with a wild mass of curly hair, played the role of the violin-playing Stooge, while Curly, known for his bald head and childlike persona, brought chaotic hilarity to the group.

Their comedy was characterized by physical gags, eye-poking, pie-throwing, and absurd wordplay. Curly's unique physical comedy, involving wild takes and contortions, made him a fan favorite. Tragically, Curly's health declined due to a series of strokes, leading to his early retirement from the act. Shemp Howard, an original Stooge from the vaudeville days, returned to replace Curly and brought his own distinctive style to the group. Over the years, the Stooges created a legacy that transcended generations. Despite their often absurd and chaotic routines, their humor was universally relatable, resonating with audiences of all ages.
Their enduring popularity led to numerous short films, feature films, television appearances, and fan clubs worldwide. Beyond the laughter, the Stooges' chemistry and timing were impeccable, showcasing their skill as performers. While they faced their share of personal challenges, their commitment to making people laugh never wavered. Even today, their influence on comedy endures, with new generations discovering their timeless humor. The Three Stooges remain an integral part of the comedic pantheon, a testament to the enduring power of laughter and their enduring status as comedy legends. In this video, we’re taking a look beyond their legendary performances. We’ll delve into the personal lives of the Stooges, as well as their final years and tragic deaths. @@FactsVerse 50'S AND EARLY 60'S SCI-FI‼️👍🏻
The Three Stooges has been my favorite show, even to this day! My Grandad worked as a Radio Repair Man in WW2 and then, went on, to work on ALL electronic devices and I was, right there, with him cleaning the TVs, after repairs and I dusted off the new TVs, that he was selling. EVERY TV, in his shop, was turned on to The Three Stooges. I would clean and sit and watch The Stooges, on ALL the TV's...I never could make up, my mind, which Stooge I loved the BEST, because ALL were my favorites!!!!!!
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
love the tree stooges use to watch it as a kid early 2000’s what a classic r.i.p to all of them.
I use to watch them as a child in 70's and again with dad in 80's. They were so funny! I had a bad habit of slapping a bf due to the shorts 😮😂 Rest In Peace Stooges (all). Thank you for the laughs! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you too for sharing your memories of the Three Stooges. We love them 😊😊
They can't Ever be duplicated comedy Legends!!!! Moe was my favorite!!! RIP to All.
One of our favorites too, you've got fine taste! Who comes in at second place?
@@FactsVerse In Second place it's definitely Larry then third Shemp. LoL
My favorite Stooge was Moe. All of the Stooges were good in the parts they played on screen. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Facts Verse. 🤗
One of our favorites too, you've got fine taste! Which episode is the most memorable for you?
Curly was the best But Moe Larry.and Shemp were great too RIP Guys and Thanks for making the World Smile 😂😂❤
Curly was married four times. His third wife Marion Buxbaum divorced him in 1946. His last marriage to Valerie Newman lasted until his death in 1952.

The icons the three stooges live on forever
Curly is my favorite. He's a lot funnier than the rest of the Stooges. Curly is the best.
One of our favorites too, you've got fine taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
@@FactsVerse anything with Curly in it.
A long lost part of my childhood was The Three Stooges, with their jazzed-up "Three Blind Mice" theme song. More recently, I learned that Curly was actually a star athlete (basketball, of all things) in his high school.
A nice tribute to the 3 Stooges! A quick correction though, several times you mention Curly as an original Stooge. That’s not correct.
The originals were Moe, Larry and Shemp. Curly came in to replace Shemp who quit because he hated Ted Healy (back in their vaudeville days) so much.
Then Shemp replaced Curly as you mentioned when his stroke(s) sidelined him.
I did get a chance to meet Larry once at the Motion Picture Home in Woodland Hills where he lived his last few years. I was a boy of 11 or 12 and huge stooge fan as a kid. Thanks again for the video.
Thanks for the correction! We'll take a note of it.
THE THREE STOOGES;IS THE GREATEST COMEDY TEAM;OF ALL TIME;AND ILOVEDTHEMALL:ANDTHE"RETHEGREATEST:❤❤😊😊
We absolutely agree! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Be safe and enjoy the rest of your evening!☺
Larry’s wife pre-deceased him by a few years before he had his first stoke. They not only had a son who died in a car crash in 1961, but a daughter too. She died in 1989 of cancer.
I remember watching Larry Fine in a commercial on KCAL-TV Channel 9 (Los Angeles) about 1970 or 1971. He was in a wheelchair in the commercial. If I remember correctly, the commercial was for an appliance store. In the early 1970s, KCAL aired "reruns" of the Three Stooges in the afternoon.
@@alexale6-qh2co Thanks for the correction, so glad someone remembers those days in SoCal. I used to listen to the Dr. Demento Show on AM Radio about 1973.
To all the three stooges thank to each for the laughter and joy that you gave us rest in peace God bless 🙏 to all and there families 😊❤
Larry Passed away before Moe did Larry Died in January 1975 Moe in May of 1975 he was the Last original stooge To die
My father could have passed as Moe's twin brother. In fact I used to call him Moe
He also died of lung cancer.
The video showed some Curly-Joe while you were taking about Curly
I loved them dearly. Dear Shemp was my best.
Rest in peace Larry curly and moe
Don't forget Shemp, Joe, and Curly Joe too.
Great Commentary .
Mabel died long before Larry, passing away of a heart attack in 1967 at the age of 63.
I liked all 6, but I'd have to say Curly was my favorite stooge
We love Curly too! Who comes in at second place?
9:54 The original Three Stooges lineup was Moe, Larry and Shemp. When Curley had a stroke Shemp returned to replace Curley.
His wife Mabel died of a heart attack in 1967. They had a daughter along with their son, her name was Phyllis. She died at age 60 in 1989.
Thanks for the info! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
Mabel died first in 1967 while Larry was on tour from a Heart Attack.
I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with Moe Howard and had a phone friendship with Joe Besser.
We're very happy to know about this! How was Moe personally?
@@FactsVerse I met Moe while I was working at an animation studio in Hollywood. It was the early seventies. Moe was generous with his time and seemed to welcome questions about his career with The Stooges. A memorable afternoon with one of my heroes.
I never heard anything about Shemp bring a heavy drinker; just Curly.
Just watch one of the earlier shorts disorder in the court to understand what made them such comedy legends i dare anybody not to laugh 😂🤣😂🤣
Thanks for watching! We're glad to know that you love our video. What other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?

Hello my favorite Stooge is Moe for sure he weas one of the good ones his hitting slapping work is nothing but great m\y favorite sound is the nose honks because it makes me think of a Clown and my favorite word is wise guy eh because as a Canadian I say that word a lot and my brother can be one of those smart guys so you get the skitt
You Saud Larey was last of the 3 stooges yet Saud same thing about Moe's
More died later in 1975
Soo many errors. For one how did Larry's wife help him after his stroke in 1970 when she died in 1967? Most of the info on Curlys wives was wrong too, after that I gave up on this attempted documentary
How can both Moe and Larry have been the LAST SURVIVING MEMBER OF THE 3 STOOGES?
You're right. The last surviving member of The Three Stooges was Curly Joe DeRita.
@@melissacooper8724 Technically, yes. But of the original Stooges, it was Moe. Personally, to me, the only Stooges were Larry, Moe, Curly and Shemp.
Loved the Three Stooges
Us too! Which episode of the show appealed to you the most?
Plus Larry had a daughter as well.
Moe was the last surviving stooge not Larry.
Out of the six Stooges, only Curly and Shemp didn't live to the age of 70, and only Curly didn't even make it to 50.
Thanks for sharing this info! What other types of video would you like to see?
All of them may they RIP
We miss the Three Stooges! Which one is your favorite?
My favorite was Shemp.
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! Who comes in at second place?
I hate that you mentioned Joe Besser and Curly Joe. They were strictly stand ins and their heart wasn’t in it. They only did it for the money.
this said shemp was a car collector and he had a phobia of cars never had a license according to moes book?
Shemp had a fear of driving and automobiles.
3 stooges are cool ! 😊
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. Who was your favorite Stooge?
What comedy team has lasted the longest 😸😁!!!
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
This is a nice clip, but not entirely accurate. Larry’s wife Mabel passed away in May of 1967 from a massive heart attack.
10:35 Curley was Moe's younger brother! That's three big mistakes so far.
Moe had a ceramics studio.
Interesting, thank you so much for sharing this info! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
8:43 That is NOT Curley
Hollywood really took advantage of them those poor guys 😢
Sad but true. Who is your favorite Stooge?
I liked the original 3 actually named one of my cats after curly LO. L.
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! What other types of video would you like to see?
These facts about Larry are inaccurate. His wife Mabel passed away in May of 1967 of a massive heart attack.
Why was it a shock if he was a heavy smoker 🤔😮
By the way my little curly cat is chubby
Thanks for watching! We're glad to know that you love our video. What other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?
@@FactsVerse How about things in nature
All three were heroin addicts for decades curly also an alcoholic died young after multiple strokes they may have brought last to us but their lives were pure misery
Along with Moe and Larry Curly just kept the laughs going. Shemp was really funny after Curlys departure but Joe Besser as the 3rd stooge just wasn't that funny.
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
The cast from That 70s show.@@FactsVerse
I never liked Joe.
I totally agree with you on that one mate Joe was worst three stooges ever
May we ask why?
