Using Only NEW Large Jets to go SUPERSONIC!

- Hey everyone! I guess it's time to go SUPERSONIC for the second time! :) With the addition of 3 new propulsion sources in the 1.6 update I decided to try and break the sound barrier with each one! In this video I chose the new large jet as the engine of choice and boy did things get a little ridiculous! This was a fun challenge and I had an absolute blast doing it so let me know in the comments below what you thought and I hope you enjoyed watching this as much as I enjoyed playing it!

The most important thing to do when trying to go fast is to reduce frontal area, thus reducing drag. Putting gaps in between the engines increases the frontal area, increasing the drag. Drag is proportional to speed squared; basically, if you go twice as fast, you have 4 times the drag. So when going fast, drag matters more than the force of the engines.

Makes me wonder... perhaps single row of Engines woulda worked better to need less frontal area? Well, if a way can be found to not tip over sideways too easily...

I loved seeing the physics break down as you pushed the hinges to their limit. It does make me think though about the possibility of building podracer like vehicles designed to slide along the terrain on the large engines like this.

You should use skis instead of wheels and use hinges to camber them on their edges. I'm pretty sure that the game is using some kind of friction equation similar to IRL of the more surface area you have in contact with the ground the more frictional drag you create. So skis have less friction than wheels due to their material and the edge of the skis have less friction than plain skis because they're technically on less surface area. Besides you're going for speed, not maneuverability.

The skis are pretty much frictionless, very small and light
So to make a land speeder its the best option
You can deactivate the wheels if you have an engine by opening the engine settings and deselecting the wheels
I think kosmo forgot how the air resistance works

Makes me curious... Jet immediately in front of another Jet, no gap... does that help the Jet in the back, interfere with it, or do nothing meaningful...?
Also, ya should try out subbing out the Wheels with Skis! Maybe the Skis would be lower friction...? :D

I believe you should do some type of challenges in the campaign, I know it sounds crazy and hard to do but if you wanna have some type of challenge, I cannot only be more entertaining for you, but everybody else getting you more views
some questions:
Why putting in on the ground, while you could've just shot yourself straight up?
Why put steering on a vehicle which only purpose it to go as fast as possible in a straight line?
Why add more aerodynamics blocks that just add more weight?

That backwards jet got me fuming
I got about 1320 in jet form with those engines. The new engine parts are a lot lower powered than I would like, especially the single small one, which is quite a let down.

This update means I can make a decent a-10 thunderbolt II with the mini guns
as soon as we get new propulsion, we're already breaking the sound barrier.

funny enough I myself had break the sound barrier by using yes the new big jets, AND the hover pads, and yes i know it's not breaking it on land, yet with the least amount of power I managed to do it in less then 30 cores.

the thrusters don't have perfect earo. you have no stabilisers. I am very bad at this game, but I think everyone can do better.
Going super sonic isn't about aesthetics sadly also if you put wedges in front of the engine and removed the wheels or added wedges to the wheels along with removing a ton of weight you'd go faster (I'm assuming I'd have to build and test myself)
pretty much yeah :) But I try to switch it up!

you should add more jazz to your creations. Just jets is boring
Why on earth are you putting your center of thrust infront of your center of weight you dork, lol. It's no wonder why you had such instability problems, if the craft was rolling in the other direction, with the cockpit in the front and the weight of the engines in back, it would have been smooth, but as you put all the weight in front, your vehicle naturally wants to spin out.
