- You are hearing a tuff little techno jam I had with Roland TR8 for drums, Wirehead Instruments Freaq FM groovebox for all the tones, with added OTIS Lifetones delay FX on the Freaq alone and Korg Volca Mix to blend them. Midronome supplies the MIDI and analogue clock sync.
Crum Drum not used in this, but for more on both the Freaq and Crum, see this demo I made for my pals at Thonk who sell em: • Who needs modular synt...

idk man, I think it needs a little clipping
dark warehouse vibes to the max! well done jam with the TR-8 switchups and quick edits, HELLS YEAH!
Fantastic. My kind of techno. No melody. Pure vibe.
This is amazing! I had to buy a Freaq off the back of this video. Looking for a Midronome alternative to sync the Freaq with midi devices. Will a Doepfer MSY2 do the job?
Not sure about the MSY2 (quick read looks like it will). For what it’s worth, I generally use a lazy Volca to consume midi clock and output sync to the Freaq.
Thanks for the Volca tip, that sounds like a good solution. Congratulations on creating the Freaq FM. I'm yet to receive mine but can't wait to start playing with it. It looks like a lot of fun! 🙌
Ohhh awesome, you did the thing! This is a bruuutal combo 🫠🖤 The Freaq FM is perfect for this, crikey.
great jam! 💣
how do you like the volca mix?
the feature set seems perfect for small jam setups.
love what you're getting out of these boxes! 😁 hard doof, 8-step FM nasties and Lifetones glue. great work as always! 🙏
My complements to the chef
Was the Midronome strictly required???
Seems like you couild have gotten midi synched with just the TR8 into the Freaq FM?
An intermediary is required unfortunately as the TR8 doesn't have analogue sync, and the Freaq doesn't have MIDI!
Uses 6 boxes, but claims tis but two. Beneath the subterfuge I do see. Nice try
The cake is a lie (hey there are two sound makers, but yessss we know the mixer and fx are critical)
Ah man,This is proper underground tek noize to stomp about too, on w/ends for at least 12 yrs of my life LUV IT Geezer 😁☻
Rad Sir!
Nice fades, creating beautiful suspension!!!!
(Next time some deeeep bass under it pls ;-)
Sounds great!
Plastiky!
Love this
We appreciate you not only jamming with the groovy boxes and cords...but the rhyme-stylin' is ok too! Thanks man!
Dig, Amigo!
Awesome video! Thank you for using Dehancer ♡
👍📽️
REALLY LIKE This Rustic Techno sound your getting from this setup dude
This is lovely! Unless my counting is off I count six boxes ;-) Wowzer that clap. Fun stuff.
The two is the two things that actually make sounds!
Silly question but what is the Crum Drum doing in this setup? Some sort of drums?
Why not use the TR-8 for that?
Sorry I should clarified but Crum Drum isn’t audible in this specific vid!! Would have added excellent zings and pings
🔥🔥🔥
awesome, especially that part at around 4:00
Duuuude, what are your scatter settings on the tr8 here? Never managed to get anything interesting out of that function, but this is great!
Can’t remember details sorry - except “use it at like the lowest settings it can go to” 😂 Just the most minimal amount helps and on and off quickly!
Does the freaq fm have a midi in and out port?
Unfortunately not, just analogue sync in and out!
Thanks
Thanks!!’
