@VladVexlerChat I think his arrest is about looking for someone to blame for Russia's failures & to of course take out opposing factions. The truth is all these factions' were created by Putin & the Russian Government & they served a huge purpose in 2014 go try & give the perception of a partisan uprising fighting against a tyrannical Ukraine Government. After Putin openly declared his second Invasion he no longer need that perception & all these partisans where no longer important. I really don't think this says anything about Russian Culture though because that muntity was something you'd never see allowed in Western Run Nations meaning those Governments are more strict in reality. Hell just look at what happened in America when people tried to protest the rigged Election. They killed an unarmed Navy Veteran & got away with it. Im actually surprised it took this long to silence Girkin but I don't think it will have much effect on the War. Maybe it will cause some Russian Citizens to not accept the War but only a Defeat of Russia & pushing them out of Ukraine militarily is going to solve this.

When Girkin and his militants shot down a plane with innocent passengers, including 16 children, Russia did not consider him a criminal, and not a single criminal case was initiated against him. As soon as Girkin doubted the power of the dictator, Putler's cunning servants immediately opened a criminal case against him. This is for you as an example of what modern Russia is like. You can be a murderer, a scum terrorist, a child molester, and you will get nothing for it if you are loyal to the authorities. And if not, then all possible criminal cases will be brought against you.

The western services have been thinking about the Girkin phenomenon for a long time. How is it possible that in a country where you can be arrested or pay a fine for one inappropriate comment insulting the Russian authorities on vKontakte or Telegram... there is a person who does it with impunity for several months. Have you thought about it? Girkin has never attacked Patrushev and Bortnikov, the former and current head of the FSB... it was different with Alexeyev, the head of the GRU. There may also be some people behind them who are temporarily unknown by the names. Apparently, that's how he has protection and that's how he plays his game. The Hague and honorable service to the fatherland in previous conflicts are not enough here. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that such people like Igor play the role of a catalyst, gathers the dissatisfied around him, but does not call for a revolution... on the contrary - he keeps repeating about "Smuta" and presents his club as a possible advisory body for the current authorities. He insures, secures (like the institution in which he serves / served) the highest authorities, gathering around him various "patriots" dangerous for the power, whom he "civilizes" (Kvatchkov has not succeeded so far, maybe, apparently someone else is paying him) and turns back from the path that is dangerous for the broadly understood Kremlin. As they say - "good agent"... and that's why he's still alive, regardless of how much it costs to protect his "honorable" person and what escort he shows up at some meetings. Later, he raves about the club's financial problems... and the russian people can't connect the dots, but all in all, this whole circus is also for us, for us - the western partners. ;) I think Girkin did his job well. It is significant how Girkin's narrative has changed in the last few weeks, so suddenly... after several months when he distanced himself from direct criticism of the russian president. For the time being, his mission has been completed, dangerous people remain under observation, and "Colonel Girkin" himself is resting after the task, in one of the recreation centers belonging to the FSB (FSS). Girkin, Prigozhyn - both have done their job... now the services are controlling all those who have not revealed themselves so far. Putler is safe, there will be no any revolution. Kind Regards - S.

We all get your point, but you need add at least one qualification to differentiate Russia from the west, where very similar attitudes are held - 'the rich and powerful are above the law, and it is all but illegal to be poor.'
That qualification is to note that in the west, broadly, this is a bug in the system which the elite exploit but democratic institutions work to close (admittedly anemicly).
In Russia, it is a feature with which the elite and the institutions they control have no intention of dispensing, regardless of any concept of the will of the people.

He said this was the same for all the conscripts in his unit. The MoD is playing with fire by not paying the troops. This alone can destabilize the Russian forces in Ukraine.
