Mui Ne | Beaches and Sand Dunes in Vietnam

- Mui Ne was not what I imagined Vietnam to be like. With rocky beaches and miles of desert sand dunes, you really feel like you stepped into a different world. It was a wonderful weekend away from the busy city of Saigon.
When traveling during Tet holiday, everything is going to be a lot more expensive and things are going to book up fast. We decided to go to Mui Ne because it was a cheap to get to from Saigon. Make sure to book accommodations and bus transportation a week or two in advance! We messed up and booked our bus back to Saigon the same day we wanted to leave. Not only did we have to leave earlier than we wanted, we also had to pay double the price to get the last seats!

It has been such a long time since I last visit Mui Ne! Love the sand dunes there. Thank you for sharing. ❣️
your newest follower, fantastic editing and vlogging, so pro! love it, hope to see you too🦁👍
The Laughing Lion Thank you so much for the kind words and support! :) hope to see you one day as well!
Amazing! I didn't know there is sand dunes/desert in Vietnam!
Edward Smart Me either until I moved to Vietnam! So cool!
yea, me too, i thought its all water and jungle.
Haven’t seen a new vlog lately. Are you in the process of making one? We love your videos so much. Thanks.
TNee TV aww thank you! I really appreciate the support! :)
I'm actually finishing one up and posting today. So stay tuned!
Well that's another place to add to our must-visit list. Great video as always!
Aaron and Wera Thank you! You guys have to go here :)
I loved the endless fields of dragon fruit on the way to Mui Ne. The roadside stands sell them cheap cheap cheap, at least back in 2008 they did.
They're still there! And really really yummy :)
I was there in 2008. It was great but some guys stole the gas from my motorbike's tank while we walked to dunes. In retrospect, I am thankful that they just didn't take the whole bike. That would have been an expensive nightmare.
Wow, that's crazy! I'm glad you were able to focus on the positive instead of dwell on the negative. I hope nothing like that happens again when you travel!
I see improvement with every vid. Voiceover narration on some of the B roll footage with less prominent music can add a lot of value to the content. Some history, stories, myth, background info on the places you visit etc.
Afterall, you're Viet kieu! So unlock Vietnam for us! ;)
And keep up the good work!
Thank you! Very good ideas. I would love to learn more about my culture's history. I will definitely try to put some information like that during my next Vietnam adventure to Da Nang and Hoi An!
Alison Wanderland hit up them FB groups. I'm sure you can find knowledgeable locals. 🌹
Alison Wanderland I'd recommend Vietnam is Awesome group.
Oh great! I'll check it out :) Thanks again!!
love to watch your video.... and would love to do a video with you I will be in vietnam around the 14 to the 22 of March.
VinnyNguyen Vlogs Thanks for the support! :) I'll actually be in Da Nang around that time. Let me know if you end up visiting that area!
Alison Wanderland when will you be in saigon?
wow
What made you want to live in Vietnam? Are you going to do a Q&A video or something similar? Love the content btw.
Anh Vuong Thank for your the support! :) I was thinking of doing a video like that, but I wasn't sure if people would be that interested.
I am actually half Vietnamese so I wanted to explore my heritage and meet some of my relatives here. I was thinking of moving back to Bangkok, but the demand for English teachers is not that high and it's more expensive to live there. I ended up teaching online so that part didn't really matter, but I love that I moved to Vietnam and got to experience it.
I wish I had thought about taking a trip for Tet, it was sooo boring here. Most businesses were closed so I mainly stayed at home hah Next year I'll have to plan an out-of-town trip cuz your's looked like fun (minus the high prices of course heh) ;D
XOh Billie Yes! You have to plan a trip here :) Its not as expensive as traveling other placing during Tet. That's why we went there haha.
I heard of Mui Ne because of a comment in Raya and The Last Dragon. There's really still things I don't know about my region....
Nice editing. You should become a wedding/video photographer on the side.
Thanks! :) Still working on improving my skills. I hope to be able to do that one day though!
Thank you for this video. I never went there. Do you know if we can film by drone here or in Vietnam in general ? You are so cool in front of camera.
David-Minh TRA I’m not sure exactly what the drone laws are. I never had a drone when I was in Vietnam. You might have to do some research. Last time I was in Vietnam was two years ago and I know things change fast. Good luck!!
Wow I didn't realise there are sand dunes in Vietnam given its geographical location of being in South East Asia - Vietnam is on my bucket list to visit given that I have already visited 5 countries in SE Asia. I have been to deserts in Jordan, Egypt, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Qatar as well as Sahara Desert in Morocco and Tunisia
Pretty cool huh? I hope you get a chance to visit soon! Definitely doesn't compared to the deserts in Egypt, but it's an interesting place to visit in Vietnam for sure. :)
@@AlisonLinh Deserts in Egypt is what you expect especially given the geographical location. What makes this Vietnamese desert unique is that SE Asia is known for jungles, tropical beaches, mangroves, stunning rock formations and the weathers are tropical - you don't expect deserts in tropical climates - probably the only sand dunes you will find in SE Asia
@@brothersman524 very true! Vietnam is a very diverse place ☺️
@@AlisonLinh And due to this has now inspired me more to visit Vietnam. I have been to Thailand 4 times, Malaysia 5 times, Singapore 3 times, Indonesia twice and Philippines once so yes Vietnam is definitely on my bucket list - great job on this video
Nice video, but does it 0:55 mean you slept in the same room with complete strangers? It doesn't seem comfortable or safe.
Alison, i been to Mui Ne with my girlfriend (Now wife) back in feb 2013. It brings back the memories from your this trip. The white sand dunes was quite spectacular and it was one of the favourite attraction for me when i visited there. The beach waves there were huge and not suitable for swimming except kite surfing which was a popular activity there for foreigners. How many nights do your stay there? 1 or 2 nights would have been enough.
Ocean Eleven We stayed there only 1 night. Which wasn't too bad. It would have been nice to chill for a little longer. :) glad you guys enjoyed it there!!
It's moo neah (mui ne) not mi ni, thanks for visiting our beautiful country, hope you had a great time and enjoyed your stay!!😍😍
Pimpdaddy 69 haha yeah I suck a pronouncing things. Thanks! I had a great time there!
Mui Ne| Phan Thiet city welcome you
Lilliana Nguyệt mị ly Thank you! I can't wait to go back one day. :)
Avoid travelling in Vietnam on holidays, Tet - The New Year Festival - in particular. Crowded, unsafe, expensive. Going around Christmas time is best since it is cooler, less crowded, and much cheaper and easier to find a nice place to stay.
Tom Winds Very good advice! I wish I knew that before haha
Nice video! Didn't know they have desert there. What do you do for a living in Vietnam?
Thanks for the support! I am actually an Online English Teacher. I made a whole video on it on my RUclips Channel. You should check it out! :)
dont ask that stupid question...
Arabia has come to Vietnam with all the sand dunes. Thailand and Vietnam I saw traffic police. But in Cambodia I never saw any traffic police. I witnessed some of the most dangerous driving there. Drivers misjudge and at times three vehicles would be attempting to pass a slower moving vehicle such as a truck or even a car. Then they would be driving directly in the opposite lane. Even one of the buses we were in was in the opposite lane passing and a couple vehicles ahead were forced on the grass off the lane. In Vietnam I saw one accident between a taxi and a truck in the Mekong Delta area. In Cambodia, not long after we crossed the border from Vietnam on our way to Phnom Penh, we saw a lone motorcycle accident. Motorbike on the ground and the driver sitting on the side of the street with lots of people around him.
Wayne Samuel Wow! That sounds crazy :(
The police in Vietnam are usually not very good with catching people for traffic violations here. However, in Mui Ne they are there to mainly catch tourist and get bribes.
I witnessed the exact thing after entering Cambodia on the Mekong Express bus. The moto driver was sprawled out on the rode lifeless with a bunch of people standing around him doing nothing. And on the sleeper bus from Hanoi to Hue we ran over two kids on a motorbike. I suspect they didn't make it. We had to wait hours for them to send a replacement bus.
car accident every where in the world..
@@johnbrookhaven7134 there is a major difference between car accidents and reckless driving that lead to accidents. To start off in Asia the pedestrian has no right of way as in most western countries. Some of the highways are also poorly designed. One example that comes to mind while on a elevated highway in Vietnam I saw traffic entering from an entrance ramp on the right hand side then crossing over in front of us onto the opposite lane. Try to picture driving on an elevated highway in Los Angeles with traffic entering on the right then crossing over to the opposite lanes. Unimaginable but this is the crazy stuff you see in Vietnam which I'm sure led to deaths. You also see scooters that leave the street due to high volume of traffic and traveling on the sidewalk competing with pedestrians. How would you feel walking on the sidewalk with a sea of scooters coming up behind you?

I'm traveling to Vietnam at the first of May. I would love to meet. How's your time in Vietnam been?
hikexplore Hi! Unfortunately, I'll be in Indonesia around then. I love Vietnam though! It's one of my favorite counties to live in. Good luck with your travels! :)
Cool video!
How was the bus trip?
I heard that sometimes they pair you up with strangers to share a bed.
What is the normal bribe fee if you get pulled over by a police officer?
Sang L. Thanks!
The bus trip wasn't so bad on the way there, but on the way back was pretty packed and I had to be paired up with a stranger.
That's a good question! When we were talking to the moped guy, he said that the police will take whatever is in your wallet. So if they see a lot of money, they will ask for a lot of money. That's why I said "Don't carry too much money in your wallet". However, I've never had to bribe someone myself before, so I do not know what the normal bribe would be. 😬 I'll let you know if I ever find out exactly!
I'm sorry that you were paired with a stranger.
Did they pair you up with a female passenger?
Do they normally pair the same gender?
Sang L. For me it was with a male passenger, but I didn't mind since it wasn't that long of a ride and I just slept haha. I usually book online and pick my own seat next to my boyfriend. If you don't book early or if you don't get there early enough to pick your seat, then they will put you anywhere. But it also depends on the bus company!
Best shot at 4:10. :-)
Inquisitve m one of my favorite shots as well :)
one thing around tet is that Saigon is not as busy since ppl tends to go back to the countryside(urban place)
That's so true! I feel like Saigon kind of shuts down. It's kind of relaxing though. :)
@@AlisonLinh since next Saturday the 25th is tet. are you gonna be in Vn?
iKnney not going to be there this year, but I wish!
How come the video is so short?
Do you know Red Sand Dune ? If you don't know you really missed a great place , but it's small than white sand dune
Yes I did :) It is in my video! We went there before the white sand dunes.
My Country 🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳
Sandy Buttholes. Cool name hahaha!
Can i know when is the tet holiday
miss Az Tet holiday is around February 4th-10th. Usually people will have two weeks off. Actual tet is in February 6th.
Tq girl...got a lot of info from your video..i've plan to go to mui ne this march
miss Az I hope you have a great time there!
Just a curiosity, are you a vegan? if so can you do a video about it, because i heard Vietnam has the best Vegan menu. Thanks
Kevin Nguyen Hi Kevin, I'm actually not Vegan. I have not noticed much about vegan food in Vietnam, but that's probably because I'm not looking for it haha. I will ask some of my vegan friends and see what they say. :)
