WOW, Great video. I was hesitant to watch due to its length, glad I did. Your smile says it all, great job. You get triple credit for this summit, the 2 different times plus all the extra footage as you walk away from your rolling camera. Love the views on your second summit, Elkhorn is magnificent. Thanks for the extra work filming this great video.
you should a million followers your work is so great. you really no how to put a good video together. u 2 r adorable together. i love this series the best because its Canada
Always enjoy your video’s. I have followed you sense Colorado trail series I hope you keep making them I have seen the pct through your eyes. You a great talent for this👍 I always love the oblivious joy you have for backpacking Thank you Cornelius
Amazing trip that forest looked so magical. The views on the summit were so pretty. your excitement of accomplishment at the summit makes me smile.Thank you for giving us another great adventure. Happy New Year Cornelius.
Brings back some memories. Hiked this in the summer of 1986 with other members of the C.O.L.T. program from Strathcona Park Lodge, Tim Rippel was our guide. Enjoyed the video.
Always great to get another video. Looks like an amazing place. Although, I'm not sure what's better, the scenery or your meal prep. Haha. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Nice video buddy ! that tree at 08:47 was HUGE ! and what a beautiful view from the meadow/camp and the summit.... I always said if I didn't have family here on the East Coast, I'd move to BC or AB to be by those mountains. beautiful ! Hope you have a great xmas and NY ! ATB !
Thanks, yeah there are some Huge trees here on Vancouver Island, I don't plan on moving from BC ever, absolutely love it here. Wish you all the best in 2020. Happy Trails:)
So Good to see you back again and your magic camera. Thank you so much. The trail reminds me of the West Sabine and the Durville trail In the Nelson Lakes Nation park, At my home in New Zealand.
Nice video. I've added Kings Peak to my list. This summer I'm doing the West Coast Trail for the second time and also Jonas Pass - Brazeau Lake Loop. But we'll see maybe I'll squeeze this in too. Been living on the island for 13 years and it's time to stretch my legs.
Beautiful video man! That's on my bucket list but at the moment I'm trying to prepare to do the Appalachian Trail and document it like you did here. I do a little random Vlogging now and I'm really impressed with the quality of what your doing with that.
thanks for the upload I definitely have to check this out when I visit the island. I live just a fairy ride across but it's surprising how little I make it out there. hopefully this year that changes.
I very rarely comment on videos. but I love your channel. from all the noise I like to watch, this is just so relaxing. you'll be please I've watch early all your videos. thank you for sharing. for motivating, and keeping it real to life.
I enjoyed this very much. Thank you. This is literally right on my back door. Unfortunately I let myself get old, fat and out of shape. Two bad knees and a badly messed up back. I really doubt if I could make this one, so will just have to be an arm chair hiker now. Quite enjoying your channel, have subscribed and am slowly working my way through.
Great video. I have watched many of your videos but I think this is the first comment. I enjoy your appreciation of the views as you show genuine delight in your surroundings. Thanks.
Wow stunning views! What an incredible area to be in! Amazing man thanks for sharing this adventure 😁💪🏻cheers. Oh and we just did another winter hiking meetup in Algonquin Park, to far for you to come this time tho lol ✌🏻
Thanks Jeff! Wish I could have been there for that Meetup, had lots if fun on the last one, I miss Algonquin for the Winter Camping, but in exchange I get mountains so I cant complain. Happy Trails my friend!
As always your videos are the best, great stills. The color of the water is amazing so clean and clear. Can't believe you forgot bug spray on the second trip, those things are like helicopters. Hope to see more videos soon.
Thanks Jo, I appreciate your great comment. I'm Working on a trail food series of videos right now, hope to release some soon and also hope to go winter camping here on Vancouver Island this winter yet. Happy Trails.
Great video brother! Always nice to see you on trail...even with the hoards of mosquitoes!! I expect lots more videos this year considering how much you’ve got to explore in your new(ish) backyard! Next time include at least a pic of your post hike meal! Take care brother.
Don't forget end of July beginning of August 2017 you were jumping into a frozen lake with water around the edges in the G.R. , I believe Shoe Lake . My opinion , this time of year to get the full experience of the Island you need to be on a boat with the run of Salmon coming through in August . I need a fishing video not the little trouts but a nice King , Oh it's too late but maybe a nice Springer . It's been almost a year of island living , I hope your enjoying your new job and your weekend adventures till your vacation days build up .
Hey Willard, Yes I hope to catch some monster Salmon this year, work is going really well and am planning a trip on the Great Devide Trail this year, very excited for that Adventure.
@@HurlgoatHiker Be careful your first slab might get you hooked . I spent 30 years fishing the straits in the summers on both sides instead of hiking . I would like to see your facial expression on something you haven't caught like a halibut !!!
A great video. The forest was beautiful and lots of great stream. The pic of you standing by that monster of a tree was awesome!! Many beautiful flowers and waterfalls!! Amazing beauty. Was that your tent from your CT hike? Great campsite you had.
Thanks Kevin! Yes that was my Hilleberg Nallo 2 tent from my 2014 trip on the John Muir Trail and the Colorado Trail, a but heavy but hope to get the Big Agnus Tiger Wall 2 soon.
I think I would camp at that big waterfall in the spring . Ha ha. Looks like a good spot there. Great long weekend you had. Are you going to climb Elkhorn some day? Or maybe it’s too hard, it looks pretty steep.
Great video. I would strongly suggest a good pair of hiking boots. So important to avoid twisting of ankles, and easing the strain on the legs and knees over many kilometers.
No Trail runners are the way to go unless you have bad ankles, I've hiked Thousands of Miles in the past few years and will never veer from Trail Runners.
@@HurlgoatHiker You are right for comfort and ease of motion. The problem is when a problem arises, when you get hurt and are limping along a trail with a pack on. Happy trails.
Another comment here with a quick question....because your videos are always of the highest quality, this Christmas I gifted myself with the Sony FDR-X3000 camera. I'm going through all the YT videos now to supplement what I am learning about the camera from the owners manual. May I ask if you purchased the Live remote unit to help you view and shoot your footage? I don't own a smartphone because I live in an area where there is no cell service. ( Yes, there are places here in the US where that is true! ;-). So I am wondering if that would be a good investment. You should do your own review/instruction video on how to use this highly rated action cam and maybe how to video 'in the wild'. :-) Lots of folks are doing that these days and might appreciate some guidance. Thanks!
Hi Karen, congrats on the new camera. No I never did buy the live remote and never used one before, I think it would be useful to set up shots but if you just holding in your hand showing something or just walking with it I don't think its necessary, as much as I've used I wouldn't get one for myself simply cause I've never for a need for it. Maybe one day I'll such a video. I've just very busy lately and doesn't seem like life is going to slow down any.
Attempted this in the summer but turned back after that last gully before queens. How’s the path during the exposed sections towards the top, high risk of a bad fall or is it a well worn path?
Every view is a gorgeous view. Nice camera work and editing. As a city dweller the thought of setting up your tent and pack. Leaving it there and climbing to the top of the mountain without a concern kind of does not feel like the right thing to do.
I have heard there is a narrow exposed section on Queens face, did you find a way to avoid it, if not how was it(I have been doing research for about a year now and am not sure about that section)
It's really not that bad, once your there make small steps and get good hand and foot holds, you'll be fine! Done it many times and always doable with out issues
Crazy! I saw you camping near the summit when I was up there Aug 3rd or 4th. I was up at the summit until about midnight shooting the milky way before making the long dark trek back to my vehicle. What are the odds I would come across your video!?
Yes, I've seen others with there dogs out on the trail, as long as the dogs in good shape has healthy hips and listens well I think it would be no problem.
The part with the avocado bagel and you scooping the avocado with the pocket knife was beyond satisfying to watch. Great video!

It sure is a magical place! Happy to call it home.
Awesome, Kings peak is on my list for this summer. Your video gives me a good idea of what to exspect.
The views from the summit on your second trip up to King Peak were fantastic! The view from inside your tent looking out was cool!!
Yeah I loved my camp way up there, one of my favorite campsites ever.
Another great spot! Thanks for sharing

Lactantia garlic butter nom,, product of Quebec lol. I saw that :) Fun , tough and rocky terrain though beautiful!
Mmmmm Garlic Butter🤤
Glad you shared this hike...looks amazing! New camera? The video seems just so crisp 👍
Thanks Paul, I was using my Gopro Hero7 and Sony A6000, I exported it in 4k and seems to look a bit clearer. I also used a gimbal on a few shots.
Great to see another video. Probably tired of people asking. But what camera did you use & format. So crisp & clear. Thanks.
I was using my Gopro Hero7 and Sony A6000, I exported it in 4k and seems to be less compressed by RUclips, much clearer.
Gold river used to have families, first underground tele lines, high paying jobs etc. What a special place. And also yes it's beautiful.

HurlgoatHiker ahhh. That makes sense. Glad you are enjoying BC. From the island you could always hop on the ferry over to the Olympic mountains too.
Just fabulous ! I must ask, are you using some sort of gimbal ? Great camera work ! Thanks for sharing man !
Thanks! Yes In some shots i was using a gimbal holding my Gopro Hero7, love how smooth the videos are when using it.
HurlgoatHiker Absolutely man ! Again, great effort ! And beautiful area ! Cheers
Really liked this! What type of gear did you use to film this? Nice job btw! :)
Thanks Harry, I used the Sony A6000 and the Gopro Hero7 with a gimbal in some shots.
Awesome!! Going to have to change your name to wolfhiker after that Howell you let out at the summit lol!!
Thanks Brian, Awhooooo haha
