    Nice analogy of the effing bird... lol No doubt about it. Ross can do some pretty amazing things with a guitar, and he makes it look so easy.

  • @inrockheaven
    @inrockheaven 12 лет назад +2

    I thought it was quite impressive how well the band sounded considering they "never actually played together acoustically before," per Ed. Then Ross said something about them being so busy they didn't even practice. Yet, he played so beautifully and with such precision. Witness it (again) for yourself in the "She Said" acoustic in Morocco video.

    Yeah, Ross is irreplaceable. He plays with so much heart and emotion. Check out the video "Collective Soul - hymn 24 live 1996." It's a real gem!

    Ross knows how to make his guitar do things that would take Joel a life time to learn, I don't know the technical term for how he was playing on the strings there (Why pt2)

  • @inrockheaven

    I saw them in concert two months ago, and they are in no way as dynamic as they used to be. To be fair, I have to say Joel was OK. He does the job but nothing more. Ross and Shane, on the other hand, added a lot of excitement and spontaneity to their performances. For those of us who knew the original lineup, I guess we'll always be spoiled by their brilliance.

      Resi Denata had he not have banged ed's wife he'd still be in the group. I don't wanna hear the bullshit ohh its Ed's band cuz I'm sick of Ed Roland after Joel kosche was let go which was stupid cuz he was the best replacement to Ross, + he was let go for no reason, all handled without class. This new guy Jessie triplet isn't that good. Neither is Johnny rabb, bring back Shane Evans he's working on ed's solo record bring him back into the fold.

      @danielhartin7680 2 года назад +1

      @@ladyboomer1765 Yes, I'm sure that went a long way to him forgiving her, at least on the surface. There are still diehards who hope Ross will somehow rejoin the band in the future, and that ain't happening. Seeing those two on stage together, it's all people would think about. Stephanie seems like quite a gal, she married Ross and ended up doing the exact same thing to him. She's supposedly engaged to another guy now, he'd better learn to sleep with one eye open.

    Collective Soul has been my all time FAVORITE band now since their debut. I have been to several of their concerts, and I must say, they've always pleased the crowd. Ross was an excellent guitar player, but I'd do the same if I were Ed. Shane, what happened to him then? Ross and Shane need to team up with Scott Stapp, formerly of Creed, and make a band. I would like to see that, being that Creed, even though no longer together, is my second favorite band. Let me know about Shane too. L8TR.

    No one really knows why he left, but I do know that Ryan Hoyle recorded on the 'Youth' album, which makes me believe that Shane knew he was leaving. Maybe they were waiting for Ryan to know all the songs before Shane would leave. I believe that the switch was premeditative. But, why Shane left? Don't know.

    I heard a rumor from more than one source that said Shane had issues with alcohol/drugs and that is why he left, but before Collective soul changed their website, there was a news forum that said Shane wanted to focus more on his personal and family life and get out of the spot light.... so who knows.
